I created this article nearly a decade ago, and it was attempted speedied yesterday (schools cannot be speedied under A7). However, it clearly does not meet the GNG and I would never have created it today. Raymie ( tc) 21:14, 13 March 2020 (UTC) reply

  • SUPPORT – I nominated this article for a speedie. And I'm always happy to learn – e.g., that A7 does not apply to educational institutions. Anyway, let's clear a bit of this unnecessary WP clutter. – S. Rich ( talk) 05:23, 14 March 2020 (UTC) reply
  • SPEEDY KEEP. A WP:BEFOREsearch I just conducted found many WP:RS. Under WP:CONTN, if the source material exists, even very poor writing and referencing within a Wikipedia article will not decrease the subject's notability. I found the sources below on Newpapers.com. This article needs improvement, but it does not qualify as a candidate for deletion: it meets WP:GNGGrand'mere Eugene ( talk) 22:04, 14 March 2020 (UTC) reply

  • Keep - the community's position hasn't changed. Any terminal secondary school in a developed country is going to meet WP:GNG on the presumption of existing offline sources. For such an experienced editor, this nomination shows a remarkable lack of BEFORE. School notability is at least partially based on Wikipedia's gazetteer function due to a school's social significance as a part of the community. It doesn't take much to meet WP:NSCHOOL. • Comment it looks like there is only coverage in one or two local newspapers. That doesn't necessarily make the school notable. b uidh e 06:30, 19 March 2020 (UTC) reply
    • And your point? What is it you think is necessary? A book? An NYT article? Historically at AfD, any terminal secondary school has been kept as long as it clearly exists and there are reliable secondary sources to provide content. The second is a given for any US school. A school article helps fulfill Wikipedia's WP:GAZETTEER function. Even a permastub (which this isn't), with only basic information like stats and sports is worthy of being here. A somewhat morbid example why? There have been at least two (including one of the biggest, MSD) school shootings that, when they occurred, we had no article on the school. It's a sad comment on today's world I guess, but most school shootings don't rise to the level of notability. It's far simpler to manage the edit onslaught after any school shooting if there is already a place for the content to land. John from Idegon ( talk) 08:08, 19 March 2020 (UTC) reply
    • More of the references in the article are to books from major publishers rather than to local newspapers, so I don't understand that comment. Phil Bridger ( talk) 09:57, 19 March 2020 (UTC) reply
