There is no reliable source coverage of this proposal. This is a discussion that seems to have so far only appeared on Reddit and this article was clearly created by someone who knows very little about the political affairs of either country and probably just assumed that having a similar name is all that counts for anything. Most of the Google books
search returns for "Congolese unification" are about the struggle of the DRC to unify itself.

Delete This maybe was a borderline proposal back in the 1960s per my BEFORE - and even that is barely covered. BALL, lack of GNG, NOR, and lack of sources are all issues with this article.

As a note, in the late 1950s up through 1960 there was a movement among the
Kongo people for the restoration of the
Kongo kingdom. This basically involved the secession of the western portions of the RoC, DRC, and Angola (in the DRC it was viewed as a separatist movement). This however has nothing to do with this article's proposal of the unification of the entirety of the RoC and DRC. -
