Ulf Wakenius (born April 16th 1958 in Halmstad) is a Swedish jazz musician ( guitar), most famous for having been a permanent member of the Oscar Peterson quartet since 1997. Ulf Wakenius also plays with his own bands, and is at present probably the most famous Swedish musician.

In the 80’s he played with Peter Almqvist in «Guitars Unlimited» who among other things played intermission for 600 million viewers of the Swedish Melodi Grand Prix in 1986. A stop in Rio de Janeiro resulted in a record with Sivuca Let's Vamos (Sonet 1987). The cooperation with Niels-Henning Ørstedt Pedersen also started this decade, and they also recorded This is all I ask (Verve, 1998) and Those who were (Verve, 1996).

His own U.W. Group released Venture (1991) with Jack DeJohnette drums, Bill Evans and Bob Berg sax, Randy Brecker trumpet, Niels Lan Doky piano, Chris Minh Doky bass and Lars Danielsson bass. The work with Americam musicians continued in New York meeting with Niels Lan Doky piano, Ira Coleman bass, and Billy Hart drums.

His Enchanted Moments (Dragon, 1997) was recorded with Lars Jansson piano, Lars Danielsson, bass and Raymond Karlsson drums. On Dig In (Sittel, 1997) he plays with Gösta Rundqvist piano, Yasuhito Mori bass and Jukkis Uotila drums. Live (Dragon), The Guitar artistry of U.W. (Dragon, 2002). After that came Tokyo Blue (2003) with Carsten Dahl piano, Morten Lund drums and Yasuhito Mori bass; Forever you (Stunt, 2003), with Carsten Dahl, piano, Morten Lund drums and Lars Danielsson bass; and Checkin' In (Megaphon, 2004) His latest release, Notes from the hart (ACT, 2005) is a tribute to Keith Jarrett, with Lund and Johansson

Wakenius had together with Håkon Graf piano, in the early ninetees the group Grafitti with members from the John Scofield group, Dennis Chambers drums, Gary Grainger bass. He’s appeared on Duke Ellington Swings (Telarc, 1998); with Oscar Peterson he released Summernight in Munich (Telarc, 1999) and Trail of Dreams with Oscar Peterson and Michel Legrand (Telarc, 2000). With Ray Brown he played on Summertime (1998) and Seven steps to heaven (1999), as well as Some of my best friends are guitarplayers (Telarc, 2001).

With Pat Metheny he played Jazz Baltica 2003. In Norway he has played with Hot Club de Norvège and Vertavo-quartet ( Hot Club Records, 2005), and also participated on the record Guitaresque on Hot Club Records with Jon Larsen, Stian Mevik, Jimmy Rosenberg and others. Other contributions has been on Lisa Nilssons Små rum (2001), Cæcilie Norbys First conversations (2002), as well as recordings by Victoria Tolstoy and Esbjörn Svensson. 2006 he toured with his show In the Spirit of Oscar with Kjell Öhman piano, Hans Backenroth bass och Jocke Ekberg drums.

Definition

Learning power refers to the collection of psychological traits and skills that enable a person to engage effectively with a variety of learning challenges. It emerged during the 1980s and 90s, for example in the writings of the cognitive scientist Guy Claxton, as a way of describing the form of intelligence possessed by someone who, to quote Jean Piaget’s phrase, ‘knows what to do when they don’t know what to do’. The forms of learning envisaged are typically broader than those encountered in formal educational settings, for example those that are of most use in learning sports or musical instruments, or in mastering complex social situations.

Though Learning Power is conceived as a form of intelligence, it differs from some more familiar notions of intelligence in a number of important ways. First, it is seen as eminently practical, and not revealed particularly through solving abstract problems against the clock. Second, it is not primarily intellectual, but involves characteristics more usually associated with personality, such as emotional resilience in the face of difficulty or frustration. Third, learning power is conceived of as a composite of interwoven capacities, rather than as a distinct ‘monolithic’ mental entity.

Fourth, the elements of learning power are usually described as ‘dispositions’ (David Perkins), ‘habits of mind’ (Art Costa) or ‘capacities’ (Guy Claxton) rather than skills. Skills are abilities that may need prompting - they do not necessarily come to mind when they are needed - whereas learning power refers to a persistent orientation towards learning. Those with high levels of learning power are generally open to learning opportunities, and typically find engaging with challenges where they are uncertain of success pleasurable rather than aversive.

Finally, all the elements of learning power are seen as capable of development. Whereas conventional measures of IQ are taken to reflect intellectual endowments that are relatively constant over time and context, learning power emphasises the role of experience in expanding, or sometimes contracting, the dispositions towards learning. This emphasis reflects the concern of those who use the concept with education: specifically with education seen as a preparation for lifelong learning.

Composition: the elements of learning power

Different authors have produced lists of the ingredients of learning power that differ somewhat, but largely overlap. Those of US authors such as Costa, Perkins and Ritchhart tend to be more focused on the kinds of intellectual learning typical of high schools and universities, while that of Claxton and his associates in the UK (Ruth Deakin-Crick, Bill Lucas) attempt to cover learning in informal as well as formal settings.

Within his ‘Building Learning Power’ framework, for example, Claxton proposes a list of 17 learning capacities grouped into four clusters called resilience, resourcefulness, reciprocity and reflection. Resilience covers the emotional and attentional aspects of learning, and includes perseverance, absorption (or ‘flow’), concentration (or ‘managing distraction’) and perceptiveness (or ‘attentive noticing’). Resourcefulness focuses on the cognitive aspects of learning, including questioning, connecting (‘making links’), imagining, reasoning, and capitalising (making smart use of resources). Reciprocity covers the social dimension of learning, and includes interdependence (balancing social and solitary learning), collaboration, listening and empathy, and imitation (receptivity to others’ learning strengths). Reflection covers the aspects of learning that are to do with strategic management and self-awareness. They include planning, self-evaluating (‘revising’), looking for further application (‘distilling’) and fluency in the languages of learning (‘metalearning’).

Education

As noted, those who use the term ‘learning power’ share an interest in schools and colleges as sites for the development of learning power. Many of the authors have developed practical tools for schools that are aimed at enhancing students’ confidence and capacity as learners, both within the institution and beyond. The tools include Art Costa’s Habits of Mind programme (ref); David Perkins’ and Ron Ritchhart’s Visible Thinking routines (see Harvard website), Ruth Deakin-Crick’s ELLI (Effective Lifelong Learning Inventory) self-report questionnaire for assessing the development of learning power (see www.ellionline.co.uk) and Guy Claxton’s Building Learning Power (BLP) publications and materials (www.guyclaxton.com). Some of these concentrate on practical routines and methods for use by classroom teachers, while others attempt to take a broader approach towards whole-school culture change.

Evaluation

Most of the educational approaches based on the idea of learning power are still in development, so large scale evaluations are thin on the ground. Ritchhart records his work on dispositional development in his PhD thesis (published as Intellectual Character). The ELLI instrument is well trialled and several reports of its development and use have been published (see below). Claxton’s BLP programme has produced several hundred action research reports (see below)

Klub VIHARNIK je bil ustanovljen 04.02.1995. Glavni pobudnik za ustanovitev kluba je bil Ivan Laharnar naš dolgoletni predsednik, ki pa je z letenjem začel že proti koncu leta 1991 (glej pod prvi letalec). Skoraj istočasno se je na Bukovem oblikovala skupina zainteresiranih posameznikov ki so pristopili h klubu. Svojčas so bili z Bukovega kar štirje letalci iz ene same družine vključeni v klub. Kasneje se je pokazalo še več zanimanja za letenje in sedaj ima 34 članov. Klub Viharnik je združeval pristaše prostega letenja širšega področja severne primorske, naši člani so prihajali iz Gorice, Tolmina, Idrije, Poljanske doline, glavnina članstva pa je iz Cerkna. Iz naših vrst sta nastala tudi padalska kluba iz Idrije in Gorenje vasi. CD++Builder is a plugin for the Eclipse software that provides the users to create, edit or view CD++ simulation projects in an integrated development environment ( IDE). The tool, implemented with the Eclipse workbench, provides an IDE where one can create, open and save projects. It enables editing CD++ related files and support for developing multiple projects.

Introduction

CD++Builder is essentially a front-end to CD++, a toolkit for DEVS and Cell DEVS modelling and simulation. CD++Builder uses Eclipse and its plugin development platform to provide an easy and simple environment to use CD++. It includes a lot of features such as a coupling text editor with syntax highlighting, C++ editing support, importing and exporting data, and a graphical user interface for the CD++ tools are featured in the plugin. However, Eclipse has many of its own user-friendly tools that make it possible to develop anything on its workbench.

C++ support is also featured to allow users to edit C++ related files involved with a CD++ project. Creating, viewing and editing any sort of C++ file is done within a text editor with a syntax highlighting ( C++ editing support is featured from the CDT project).

CD++Builder packages all the potential tools that can be used in a CD++ project from the existing CD++ toolbox to the Eclipse workbench and its own tool set. In Eclipse, a perspective defines a set of editors and views arranged in an initial layout for a particular role or task. A default perspective for CD++Builder is given to support the CD++ environment. The CD++Builder plugin must be installed to use its features.

Talan Torriero is a rock/acoustic singer/musician and is signed to the record label Joe Simpson/JT Entertainment. Torriero is also notable for appearing on Season 1 and 2 of Laguna Beach: The Real OC, where he dated many of the other cast members. He has also been linked to many celebrities such as Nicole Scherzinger (lead Pussycat singer)and Tara Conner (Miss USA 2006) to name a few. Since his part on the reality show Laguna Beach, Talan Torriero has appeared on other TV shows, films, commercials and magazines.

His interests include a lot of sports, ranging from hunting to volleyball, where he played for Varsity CIF.

Torriero previously made headlines with Rod Stewart's daughter, Kimberly Stewart, after being engaged for 11 days and then splitting.

Marijan Ivanusa studied medicine at the University of Ljubljana, Slovenia. In his youth he was involved in the theatre. In 1984, he published his first poems. In 2003 his first book entitled How I Swam the Stone River came into the world (Slovene edition). The book was a big success, hence its reprint in 2005. In 2008 the book was awarded with the Italian Citta di Salo special award (Premio speciale per la narrativa in lingua Slovena).The same year the English version of the book was published (Trafford). In 2005 another book of his was published, a novel titled Villa do Abraao – The day before last. Marijan Ivanusa holds an international certificate of a trainer of neurolinguistic programming. He has authored several travelogues in different journals.

Agnigol was something to similar to earlier version of these missiles. When agnigol packed with this seeds used to explode in air it acted like cluster bombs & inflamed broken seed fragments traveling at high speed use to penetrate unprotected humanbody parts.Injury list in durrani camp inlclued many top durrani knights including Ahmed Shah himself,his brother in law,nephews,cousins.Some times Agnigol were attached to arrow shot from bow & could reach around 1 Km distance.This agnigol caused psychological & anatomical damage in durrani forces & were cause of slow painful death for more no. of soldiers in durrani forces after the battle in due course of span >10 years than around >42000 durrani soldier who died on the day of battle.Later on this was improved upon along with missiles as used by Tipu’s army by English army engineers & was used at Waterloo against Napolean’s French cavalry with devastating results.

Touro University Rome is a branch of Touro College.

The university is accredited by the Middle States Commission to teach Business and Management.

The university is starting with the first semester in Fall 2008 in the Rospigliosi Palace in Zagarolo.

An agreement has been signed between the Province of Rome, the Municipality of Zagarolo and Touro College.

HIS memory

Eddie as we all knew him as in the Westside Of Fort worth was a great guy in heart. For his short life to end so soon was a heart braking event for his family and friends. His lost of life the night of September 22, 2007 has many "?" marks around it. But all these Question marks will soon be answered in late September Of 2008 when the trail of his murder is planed to be heard by a judge in the City Of Fort Worth. With one year mark of his passing coming up it reminds use of what life could be so short.

About the creators and franchise

First there is Paddy Selby as a young child this guy had a dream, a dream that one day he would own a company, a company worth over 1 million GBP. his dream became true at the age of 15 when he released his own firm. the firm now known as PADDY'S P***Y CREW . the firm associated in business advertising and clothing retail. but later went on to other advertising deals. the firm is now known in country's such as the uk, u.s.a and austraillia. and clothing can be seen worn all around the world.
