History According to Corban tradition as recorded in the Corban Primer, Corbanism started when Corban, an English blacksmith originally from Germany, journeyed to China in the mid-1600's. Corban found the fact that the Chinese operated successfully without the Western concept of God to be intriguing. Equally intriguing was that Europeans, having a God, did not seem to have the practical application of spirituality that the Chinese had. Corban, who had always felt out of place in European society, concluded that if two great societies could exist despite that they had different religious views, that religion meant, indeed, very little. Corban continued to compare and contrast European and Chinese life philosophies throughout his life. His studies eventually became what is now referred to as the Manuscript--a relitively short work containing all of Corban's major theories as translated by his students. Until the latter 1700's, the Manuscript was maintained largely by oral tradition, but by the mid-1800's nearly every Corban (disciple or follower of Corban) had his own hand-written copy of the Manuscript. Even though the Manuscript has passed through many hands and gone through countless translations, all the Manuscript written between 1886 and 2007 have an amazing amount of continuity (no authenticated Manuscripts have been found from the period before 1886). As such, it is generally concluded in Corban circles that the present documents are reasonably accurate. Major Beliefs The Manuscript has two major sections that govern the lives of the followers of Corban, the Four Principles and the Philosophicals. The four principles are general "do good" admonishments and are often viewed as guidelines to living a good and productive life. The Philosophicals, on the other hand, form the basis of Corban life choices, political views, ethics, etc. One of the major components of the Philosophicals is an implicit "removed" way of living. All Corbans believe that they are better off in life observing mainstream society and only becoming involved when they feel they absolutely have to. Thus, the vast majority of Corbans, unless they see no other recourse, do not vote, run for political office, or seek posts that put themselves in a position to dictate social conventions. SynopsisIn the wake of their blissful sojourn in the city of Lamentable Moll, the intrepid sorcerors Bauchelain and Korbal Broach -- along with their newly hired manservant, Emancipor Reese -- have set out on the wide open seas aboard the sturdy Suncurl. Alas, there's more baggage in the hold than meets the beady eyes of Suncurl's hapless crew, and once on the cursed sea-lane known as Laughter's End -- the Red Road in which flows the blood of an Elder God -- unseemly terrors are prodded awake, to the understated dismay of all. It is said that it is not the destination that counts, but the journey itself. Such a noble, worthy sentiment. Aye, it is the journey that counts, especially when what counts is horror, murder, mischance and mayhem. For Bauchelain, Korbal Broach and Emancipor Reese, it is of course just one more night on the high seas, on a journey without end -- and that counts for a lot. A blastodisc is a small (~2-3mm diameter) circle on the surface of the yellow yolk of an egg that has been laid. It floats upon a column of white yolk. In a fertile egg, it contains all of the genetic material of the pre-developmental embryo. It is from this mass of cells that a bird chick, for example, develops.

Big Dick Johnson is a large caucasian male of unknown age, who appears in WWE wrestling, often in a humorous capacity. He mostly wears only a very progressively cut european men's bathing shorts. He is notable for being very fat and happy and wearing very little on a television program, and having an outgoing sexual/playful demeanor, in defiance of the cultural norm that dictates very fat people should be highly modest or ashamed. Although his very appearance is entertaining to many fans, he is also employed in specific scenarios. When there is an expectation of a sexual display whether from male or female sometimes instead Big Dick Johnson is presented to confound that expectation or subvert it because Big Dick Johnson is overweight in contrast to the leaner physique of the average wrestler. Yet as seen in the bachlorette skit on Tuesday he has a joyful energy so that Kristal ended up dancing with him, wearing her flimsy nightgown and even grinding on him. He often squirts himself with oil to give him a shiny appearance. In some ways he is reminescent of the dead comedian Chris Farley's chippendale dance character from Saturday Night Live, but there is no savage nihilism to Big Dick Johnson, he is always smiling. There are many youtube videos of Big Dick Johnson moments. Once JR had Big Dick Johnson dress as a rival football fan to appease a crowd angry about a football loss. It is not clear if Big Dick Johnson was appearing then as Big Dick Johnson or simply as a generic kind of target for JR to rail against, like a scapegoat. Big Dick Johnson did not on that occasion become naked nor dance nor oil himself. ok Here are text articles about naming him... for many years he flew under the radar and the WWE did not officially name his character. http://www.wrestlingepicenter.com/articles/161905348.shtml Here is where Kristal danced with him wearing her attractive thin-material nightgown http://slam.canoe.ca/Slam/Wrestling/2007/09/15/4498995.html http://pwtorch.com/artman2/publish/TV_Reports_9/article_22829.shtml And here is from when he dressed as a crazy oily baby! http://www.prowrestling.com/article/results/1173 http://www.wrestlingattitude.com/smackdown-2007-08-17.php

Modern Yoga Modern Yoga is said to have begun a the Parliament of Religions in Chicago, 1893. During this meeting the young Swami Vivekananda from India made a deep impression on the American he introduced to Yoga. Vivekananda became whom of the most popular members of the Parliament, and he subsequently toured the US giving lectures on Yoga. Many Yoga masters would later cross the ocean and follow in his footsteps, spreading Yoga to all corners of the continent. Yoga schools where founded and increasing numbers of people fell in love with the yogic forms of exercise. Many masters also went to Europe where the reception, for some reason, wasn't quite as warm. Yoga, in the form of Hatha Yoga, debuted in the consciousnesses of the American masses when russian born Indra Devi, of the called "the first lady of Yoga", opened a Yoga studio in Hollywood in 1947. She taught movie starts like Gloria Swanson, Jennifer Jones and Robert Ryan, as well as educating hundreds of Yoga teachers. During the 1950s one of the foremost Yoga teachers of his time, Selvarajan Yesudian, wrote the book "Sport and Yoga", and it was through this book Yoga entered the world of sports. This book has been translated into more than fourteen languages and has sold more than half a million copies. Today we can observe many athletes and sports teams that has incorporated Yoga in their injury reducing, strengthening and focus oriented training regimens. One of the most well known examples are the NBA stars of the Chicago Bulls. 1961 Hatha Yoga was presented in american television by Richard Hittleman, and his book called The Twenty Eight day Yoga Plan sold in the millions. In the middle of the 60s, Yoga got a real promotional boost when the Yogi Maharishi Mahesh taught Yoga to the famous pop-stars in the Beatles. Many other artists and musicians where influenced to take up Yoga as well. During the 60s and 70s Yoga became a way of life for many people living on the American west coast. On an interesting side note, Dalai lama is a great yogi from Tibet, representing Buddhism and Tibetan Yoga. He was awarded the Nobel price for peace and has inspired many westerners to learn more about Buddhism and Yoga. The musical is currently entering its cast changeover date - Mazz is staying as one of the last of the production members (e.g. Jenna Lee-James, from small part to Scaramouche will be leaving). Black & Veatch started as a small, local engineering firm in Kansas City, Missouri in 1915 by Ernest Bateman Black and Nathan Thomas Veatch, Jr. Veatch and Black were engineers who worked for the J.S. Worley Company, founded in 1908 by John Worley from Toledo, Ohio. When he started the company, Worley had invited Black, a former associate, to join him. Working out of a one-room office in Kansas City, which was then a bustling town full of opportunities, the two began designing and building water works, road paving, sewer systems, and electric lighting projects. The firm expanded in 1911 to a three-room office. It numbered some 32 communities among its clients. During the expansion N.T. Veatch ]was hired as a resident engineer to work on the construction of electric light and water plants. HistoryThe prototype of the hylOs system was presented at the international workshop for blended learning in Villach in 2002. hylOs is based on the three years before started development of the Media Information Repository (MIR), which allows the strict sepparation of content, structure, logic and appearance based on the XML technology. The company spin-off started 2006. BackgroundSince hypermedia systems have been introduced to teaching and learning environments, the composition and reception of learning material have undergone a shift in paradigm. Linear instructional designs manifested in books or scripts are now complemented by meshed knowledge networks. Content access no longer follows a single predefined path, but multiple, associative rules driven by individual inquiries. Portable electronic formats and hyperreferences in addition stimulate content exchange and interrelations between authors. Following these changes, a new perspective on content as a net of confined, self-consistent 'knowledge nuggets' has been developed. In the field of educational content management the concept of atomic, self-consistent content units became standardised 2002 as IEEE LOM eLearning objects (eLOs). A base for reusable learning objects was established. hylOs is one of the first systems, which consequently realize this approach and allow a full graphical creation and composition of elearning objects. Authoring eLearning objects (eLOs) needs the aggregated, self-consistent presentation of a self-contained subject matter in multiple types (slides, long text, animation, etc.) if applicable as well as their decoration with metadata and structures. To relax this comparatively complex process for authors is the reason for the development of hylOs. hylOs have one editor, which is used to create coherently different kind of content and metadata. The core component for content creation is a MS-Word-like WYSIWYG XML editor. Manual updated metadata will be reduced to seven attributes by different acquisition techniques. The hylOs presentation layer operates under an extensive understanding of the eLO semantic: Following the LOM attributes the learner can adapt individually the frontend to complexity levels, contexts, semantic density and other specifications. Various access paths admit the usage of suitable didactic models. In addition presented hyperlinks can be choosen according to free definable semantic decorated 'link contexts'. Innovations in hylOsThe concept of multiple, contextsensitive linksHyperlinks, as we know from the WWW and as they are implemented now, address exactly one target and don't include any semantic. Their loss of context teached us the Lost in Hyperspace phenomenon. In the field of online learning, however, especially interactive elements take up an outstanding function: A learner should see only links, which satisfy his learn context, thus, supporting his learning process. It is easy to understand, that one word will be linked with different information, e.g., beside a web reference exists a bibliography or glossary entry. Such references guide the learner to different relationships and can be of different help, depending on the learner's knowledge level. A beginner is looking, e.g., for a definition, an advanced learner for additionanl information and an expert for background literature. Links will be associated to certain contexts. It is important that only links will be shown, which are of interest for the learner, such that the learner will not be distracted. ![]() hylOs allows exactly that using standards like XLink: different hyperlink layers may be applied onto the same content, as have been predefined by the teacher or selected by the learner. The link contexts realized in hylOs may be understood as the first available implementation of the ideas in the article The rhetoric of hypermedia: some rules for authors by Landow from 1989. Links are represented within contextual containers with the help of semantic web technologies. Consequently links in hylOs are real, semanticly interpreted data objects. Instructional pathsLearning content will be saved in eLOs. A complete learning unit, however, consists mostly of multiple learning objects. The process of forming a didactically structured outline from many single learning components is commonly known as instructional design, the way taken by the learner is called instructional path. For an arbitrary reuse of eLOs it must be ensured that the elearning objects can be loosely added to a net. It is necessary to create an overlay network, which is possible in hylOs with the fully graphical iDesigner. The hylOs iDesigner is an advanced authoring tool enhancing the process of eLearning course production by providing an additional layer for didactical setup. For this purpose hylOs introduces instructional container objects (ICO), which flexibly combine eLOs and instructional descriptions to courses. ICOs are derived from eLOs retaining the complete LOM metadata set and the nesting facility. Hence, the hylOs iDesigner bridges the gap between reusability and atomicity of eLearning objects on the one hand and individually and coherently designed courses on the other. Arbitrary publication channels![]() Content saved in the hylOs core system remains independently from its appearance. Content can be arranged and published arbitrarily in specific designed output channels (HTML pages, PDF, etc.). For this purpose there are publication generators, which create dedicated structured XML data. Through this, one and the same content can be associated not only with different layouts, but can also be transferred natively to specific, e.g., mobile end devices. Further features of hylOs

Plot SummaryThe Wife of Bath’s Prologue belongs to Fragment III (Group D) of Chaucer’s The Canterbury Tales and is essentially about marriage. The Wife of Bath, or Alisoun, establishes herself as an authority on marriage in the first three lines of her prologue. She tells the other pilgrims that she has been married five times and, likely anticipating the hostility of her fellow pilgrims, attempts to provide justification for her numerous marriages. Alisoun states that Christ never stated the number of times people could marry, but people assume that because he attended a single wedding, that of Cana of Galilee, individuals should only marry once. She points to how Abraham and Jacob each had more than two wives. Alisoun’s justification of her actions continues with her note that, while Christ is perfect, she is not. Alisoun moves away from her attempts to justify her numerous nuptials and, instead, starts to discuss the men that she married and her relationships with them. According to her, three of the five were good men and the other two were not. The three that were good were all old and rich. Alisoun prides herself in telling the other pilgrims that she had control over them, which she apparently achieved by lying to them. She used to tell her husbands that they said horrible things about her and women in general while in a drunken state, in order to gain the upper hand in the marital relationship. Alisoun then speaks of her fourth husband, whom she fondly remembers torturing because she felt he robbed her of her youth and beauty: it is suspiciously unclear how he died. Her fifth husband, Jankyn, is the husband that the reader is provided the most information about and whom she recounts as loving the most out of the five, despite their tumultuous relationship. She notes how she first met him at her friend’s home while still married to her fourth husband and then ended up marrying him a month after her previous husband’s death. Alisoun describes her marriage to Jankyn in detail, noting how their relationship was characterized by his desire to control her and her unwillingness to submit. It is only after a physical confrontation, the cause of which is Alisoun’s desecration of Jankyn’s “book of wikked wyves,” that he gives up his quest to control Alisoun. This is symbolized by his returning of her property (which she gave to him out of love). They live in harmony until Jankyn’s death. Thus, the Wife of Bath’s Prologue is one woman’s take on marriage based, as she says at the start, on her own “experience.” Antifeminism/SourcesIt is crucial for any reader of the Wife of Bath’s Prologue to understand that it is working within the tradition of antifeminism. As Helen Cooper notes, Alisoun’s “materials are part of the vast medieval stock of antifeminism” (Cooper 1996: 141), specifically St. Jerome’s Adversus Jovinianum, which was “[…] written to refute the proposition put forward by one Jovinianus that virginity and marriage were of equal worth” (Cooper 1996: 141). The simple fact that Alison is a widow who remarries more than once suggests she is an embodiment of antifeminist beliefs. Further evidence of this can be found through Alisoun’s observation: “For hadde God comanded maydenhede, / Thanne hadde he dampned weddyng with the dede” (III 69-70). Alisoun refutes Jovinianus’ proposition concerning virginity and marriage by noting that God would have condemned marriage and procreation if He had commanded virginity. Her decision to use God as a defense of sorts for her promiscuity is significant, as it shows how the Bible is another source that Alisoun draws upon, although her interpretations of Scripture, such as St. Paul’s view on marriage (III. 158-161), are tailored to suit her own purpose (Cooper 1996: 144). In addition, while it is quite obvious that Alisoun is an embodiment of antifeminist beliefs, it may be less obvious that she is also someone who resists them as well. For instance, her repeated acts of remarriage are an example of how she mocks “[…] clerical teaching[s] concerning the remarriage of widows” (Carruthers 1979: 213). In actual fact, as noted by Mary Carruthers, “a rich widow was considered to be a match equal to, or more desirable than, a match with a virgin of property” (Carruthers 1979: 213). Alisoun illustrates this point by describing her ability to remarry four times, and also to attract a man who is much younger than her, Jankyn. Thus, while Alisoun is portrayed as epitomizing antifeminist traditions through her very thoughts and actions, she also attacks them, in part by forcing readers to realize that it is men, including the author Chaucer, who construct them in the first place. Proper Behaviour in MarriageMary Carruthers and Helen Cooper reflect on the way that Alisoun, in particular, does not behave as she should in any of her marriages. Through Alisoun’s nonconformance to the expectations of her role as a wife, the audience is shown what proper behaviour in marriage should be like. Carruthers’ essay outlines the existence of deportment books, the purpose of which was to teach young women how to be model wives. Carruthers notes how Alisoun’s behaviour in the first of her marriages “[...] is almost everything the deportment-book writers say it should not be” (Carruthers 1979: 213). For example, she lies to her old husbands about them getting drunk and saying some regrettable things (III.380-382). Yet, Carruthers does note that the Wife does do a decent job of upholding her husbands’ public honour. Moreover, deportment books taught girls that “the husband deserves control of the wife because he controls the estate” (Carruthers 1979:214); it is clear that Alisoun is the one who controls her husbands in her various marriages. Perhaps this is because of the fact that her first three husbands are so old “that for syk unnethes myghte they stonde” (III.394). Helen Cooper also notes that behaviour in marriage is a theme that emerges in the Wife of Bath’s Prologue, and although she does look at the character of Alisoun and notes how she did not really exhibit the behaviour expected of her, she also describes Jankyn. Cooper notes how Jankyn “[...] cannot be taken as any principle of correct Christian marriage” (Cooper 1996:149). He, too, does not exhibit the kind of behaviour that he is supposed to within his marriage, which can perhaps be attributed to his young age and lack of experience in relationships, although he does change at the end, as does Alisoun. Thus, through Alisoun’s and Jankyn’s failure to conform to expected behaviour in marriage, readers are taught to realize what proper behaviour in marriage likely is–the opposite of Alisoun’s and Jankyn’s. Female DominanceAs Helen Cooper argues, the theme of female dominance is fundamental to the Wife of Bath’s Prologue. The Wife’s dominance is highlighted in terms of sexual dominance. It is quite clear that she is the one who is the master of the bedroom based on the comments that she makes to her fellow pilgrims. For instance, she notes that: Unnethe myghte they the statut holde In which that they were bounden unto me. Ye woot wel what I meene of this, pardee! As help me God, I laughe whan I thynke How pitously a-nyght I made hem swynke! (III.198-202) The manner in which Alisoun describes how she made her husbands labour, “swynke,” for her pleasure reminds one of the relative situations of men and lords. Alisoun’s husbands are depicted as peasants who must cater to her sexual appetite. Her characterization as master, or sovereign lord, is particularly evident in the following passage: Of tribulacion in mariage, Of which I am expert in al myn age – This is to seyn, myself have been the whippe. (III.173-175) The image of the whip solidifies her role as master; she tells everyone that she is the one in charge in her household, especially in the bedroom. Alisoun appears to have an insatiable thirst for sex; the result is a satirical, sexualized depiction of a woman, but also of feudal power arrangements. Economics of LoveIn her essay, “The Wife of Bath and the Painting of Lions,” Mary Carruthers describes the relationship that existed between love and economics for both medieval men and women. Carruthers notes that it is the independence that Alisoun’s wealth provides for her that allows Alisoun to love freely (Carruthers 1979:216). This implies that autonomy is an important component in genuine love, and since autonomy can only be achieved through wealth, wealth then becomes the greatest component for true love. Love can, in essence, be bought: Chaucer makes reference to this notion when he has Alisoun tell one of her husbands: Is it for ye wolde have my queynte allone? Wy, taak it al! Lo, have it every deel! Peter! I shrewe yow, but ye love it weel; For if I wolde selle my bele chose, I koude walke as fressh as is a rose; But I wol kepe it for youre owene tooth. (III.444-449) She appears to make reference to prostitution, whereby “love” in the form of sex is a “deal” bought and sold. Alisoun’s use of words such as “dette” (III.130) and “paiement” (III.131) also portray love in economic terms, as did the medieval Church: sex was the marriage debt women owed to the men that they married. Hence, while the point that Carruthers makes is that money is necessary for women to achieve sovereignty in marriage, a look at the text revels that the concept of love is, among other things, an economic concept. This is perhaps best demonstrated by the fact that Jankyn gives up wealth in return for love, honour, and respect. Sex and LollardyWhile it is quite obvious that sexuality is a dominant theme in The Wife of Bath’s Prologue, it is less obvious that Alisoun’s sexual behaviour can be associated with Lollardy. Critics such as Helen Cooper and Carolyn Dinshaw point to the link between sex and Lollardy. Both describe Alisoun’s knowledge and use of Scripture in her justification of her sexual behaviour. This associates her with Lollardy. When Alisoun states that “God bad us for to wexe and multiplye” (III.28), she appears to suggest that there is nothing wrong with sexual promiscuity, because God wants humans to procreate. Alisoun’s “[...] emphatic determination to recuperate sexual activity within a Christian context and on the authority of the Bible [on a number of occasions throughout the text] echoes one of the points made in the Lollard Twelve Conclusions of 1395" (Cooper 1996:150). The very fact that she remarries after the death of her first husband could be viewed as Chaucer’s characterization of Alisoun as a supporter of Lollardy, if not necessarily a Lollard herself, since Lollards advocated the remarriage of widows (Cooper 1996:150; Dinshaw 1999:129). Inversion of NormsIt can be argued that much, if not all, of The Wife of Bath’s Prologue is an inversion of norms, or that it, at the very least, deals with this theme on some level. Alisoun’s dominance and sexuality are definitely inverted norms. Her aggressiveness towards Jankyn when she rips a few of the pages from his book and punches him is an inverted norm. Carolyn Dinshaw argues that the presence of the queer Pardoner in The Wife of Bath’s Prologue also represents an inversion of norms. As Carolyn Dinshaw notes, Chaucer “[...] has the Wife naturalize ‘the body’ as specifically heterosexual [...]” (Dinshaw 1999:131). Consequently, the Pardoner’s homosexuality is made to seem unnatural, and thus, an inversion of the perceived norm of heterosexuality. Why Chaucer chooses to invert so many norms in the Wife’s Prologue is debatable, but maybe he is suggesting something about the way in which individuals view the world. Perhaps Chaucer wanted people to question why norms exist and in what ways they are vulnerable to inversion and change. Or perhaps Chaucer just wanted to have a little fun with a commonplace character like the Wife, as an antitype of female deportment or antifeminist exemplum, and then to show that she is not so commonplace after all.

In 1912 the firm changed its named to Worley & Black, with Worley as president and Black as vice-president. Two years later the firm expanded into a nine-room office, with Veatch listed as the principal engineer. By the end of 1914 the firm had completed projects for more than 100 communities and private companies.
Today, Black & Veatch works in four main sectors: Water, Power, Telecommunications and Federal. Sources147.182.5.50 16:03, 27 September 2007 (UTC) Articles for creation/2007-09-27 reply
