Ust-Kansky District ( Russian: Усть-Ка́нский райо́н, Ust'-Kanskiy rayon; Altay: Кан-Оозы аймак, Kan-Oozı aymak; Kazakh: Қан ауданы, Qan audanı) is an administrative [1] and municipal [5] district ( raion), one of the ten in the Altai Republic, Russia. It is located in the west of the republic. The area of the district is 6,244 square kilometers (2,411 sq mi). [2] Its administrative center is the rural locality (a selo) of Ust-Kan. [1] As of the 2010 Census, the total population of the district was 15,007, with the population of Ust-Kan accounting for 27.5% of that number. [3]
Within the framework of administrative divisions, Ust-Kansky District is one of the ten in the Altai Republic. [1] As a municipal division, the district is incorporated as Ust-Kansky Municipal District. [5] Both administrative [1] and municipal [5] districts are divided into the same eleven rural settlements, comprising twenty-four rural localities. [1] [5] The selo of Ust-Kan serves as the administrative center of both the administrative [1] and municipal [5] district.
