Re: politician stubs

I made the changes because I feel that tiny photographs don't really add much while, on the other hand, a flag does. A flag is also a neutral symbol; choosing a photo of a notable politician from the state is inherently biased. As for state seals, they are also neutral symbols, so I don't really have a problem with using them either. I did briefly consider adding seals, but decided to just stick with the flags as that has been standard convention on many other templates. -- tomf688 ( talk - email) 15:04, 1 July 2006 (UTC) reply

All I know from here is that it existed in Bruceton Mills up until at least the mid 70s. There was a park where some regional acts played, and Bob Gill tried to jump the lake in 1974. The lake is still there, but whatever happened to the park? -- DarkAudit 23:14, 22 July 2006 (UTC) reply

Re: Cherry River photos

The top one is definitely looking downstream. It's from a long pulloff/turnaround between Holcomb and the Gauley River bridge (nearer to Holcomb, I think) which appeared to be an unofficial fishing/drinking/hangout spot with several paths down to the river. (I couldn't get down into the riverbed because of the high water). The North Fork picture is looking upstream, I think (Judging mostly from the other pictures I took at the site.) It's from a footbridge at the North Bend picnic area. Malepheasant 23:41, 25 July 2006 (UTC) reply

Assistance needed on Template:OH Highways

I have revamped the List of Ohio State Highways page, splitting it into three categories, very similar to what was done for the West Virginia log:

Some assistance is needed at Template:OH Highways to add the remainder of the highway log from List of Ohio State Highways to the template. I've gotten a great start on it, but due to time constrants, I can't finish it all in one day (or two) it seems. I am also proposing that the template not be added to individual highway pages due to its size, which will only triple by the time its finished. I added, for instance, at the Ohio State Highway 7 page, a "See also" link to the List of State Highways in Ohio page. I think this is sufficent? Thanks for the barnstar

Hi youngamerican, I've been away for a while and wanted to thank you for the barnstar you awarded me last month. It's very nice to be noticed! I was in WV/OH recently and should have some useful photos to put up in coming days/weeks. Also, have you seen the West Virginia Encyclopedia? It's excellent. -- Malepheasant 02:39, 19 July 2006 (UTC) reply

Naming

"State Route X (Ohio)" and "NC X (highway)" to match what ODOT and NCDOT (and other sources) use. -- SPUI ( T - C) 02:44, 19 July 2006 (UTC) reply

I don't actually have a source on that, just a general Google search and my intuition that new ceremonial names are never used. -- SPUI ( T - C) 12:05, 19 July 2006 (UTC) reply

I've seen documents from ODOT (I go to their regional offices quite often to get status updates on projects) that cite them as "State Highway XXX". I have yet to see ODOT use "Route" in official documents. Seicer ( talk) 00:19, 20 July 2006 (UTC) reply

Appalachia Lake

I need a little advice, please

Y.... Can you please take look at my notes in Talk:David Matthews (musician) and advise me how to proceed, or if I should proceed. I identified a hoax article, marked it as so. Another editor removed the hoax article and added an incorrect link. In response I left my indented remarks on the editor's Talk page and the articles Talk page. Your suggestions on how to proceed (or not proceed) would be appreciated.

As I've only been here a couple of months, I am looking to fit in and yet make try to make solid contributions. Thanks! WVhybrid 03:33, 3 August 2006 (UTC) reply

It all worked out okay. The hoax template was returned and the adf tag added. Any comments you might still have are welcome. WVhybrid 05:05, 3 August 2006 (UTC) reply
Did everything work itself out ok? youngamerican (ahoy-hoy) 12:35, 8 August 2006 (UTC)
Yes. Sorry to delay so long to reply. The article turned out to not be a hoax, just had some very big mistakes in it. WVhybrid 02:31, 22 August 2006 (UTC) reply

Thanks

Thanks for the links on July 4th. You're right in noticing that I'm not new, but actually I needed those links because I'm still new to the process. Thanks also for introducing me to this talk feature; I didn't know it existed!

KY SH 8

I amended the Kentucky State Highway 8 page with a new route box. I believe it is more simple to understand and in a better table format, so I wish to extend this to the rest of the Kentucky, Ohio, and West Virginia highway pages. Request for comments in the project page. Thanks! Seicer ( talk) 14:18, 4 August 2006 (UTC) reply

West Virginia mountain articles

Being that we're known as "The Mountain State", shouldn't we have more articles on our various mountains? I've written some stubs for mountain ridges in the Eastern Panhandle but noticed that many of the bigger boys towards the center of the Allegheny Mountains and Allegheny Front did not have articles. Is a West Virginia Mountains WikiProject in order? I was just curious as to what you thought about the issue! -- Caponer 22:04, 5 August 2006 (UTC) reply

Thank you very much for your comments and the barnstar. I really appreciate it. :) -- TBC TaLk?!? 12:26, 8 August 2006 (UTC) reply

Your assistance is requested

Please assist in [2]. SPUI is up to his old tricks, by reverting numerous pages and undoing the work of myself and others. Thanks. Seicer ( talk) ( contribs) 05:32, 10 August 2006 (UTC) reply

Intersted in becoming an admin?

Hello! I hope you remember me. You were the user who welcomed me to this great project way back in January. A few months back, I asked you whether you would be interested in becoming an admin. You told me that you are not ready yet. Well, I feel that you are ready now, so please give me a reply soon with regards to this subject matter. I strongly believe that Wikipedia would gain much by your added responsibilities. You helped me once by welcoming me and I intend to return this favour which I believe, is much deserved. -- S iva1979 Talk to me 17:42, 23 August 2006 (UTC) reply

I was reading Siva's talk page and saw your message on hot dogs. Very similar to US and the rest of the world due to Westernised culture in Singapore, so nothing different actually. So there's nothing to add. Ter e nce Ong ( T | C) 12:33, 25 August 2006 (UTC) reply

Caperton

ok, I believe you that you don't have a connection to her, but the article is extremely fawning, long and detailed for someone whose contributions to scholarship seem minimal at best. It does not seem NPOV. just my two cents. Appalachiangirl 16:27, 25 August 2006 (UTC) reply
