there's no full sentece, it is the term itself. They use it in album covers:

Altaypilar: Haluk Kurosman (see maNga (album))

As I said it is a term used in music. -- Teemeah Gül Bahçesi 13:34, 1 May 2006 (UTC) reply

Hi Teemah sorry for this late answer i wasn't active this weekend, and i don't ask that and the full sentence? part. First of all correct form is altyapı it's difficult for me to give you and exact translation but i'll try to help you. this is a link for meanings of altyapı but none of them give proper meaning. But most proper word is underwork:low-level work. Really if i can see a sentence it would be better, but Altyapılar: Haluk Kurosman can mean musical underwork or maybe in technical part. Maybe about rhythm etc. Haluk Kurosman seems to be producer. I hope that will help you -- Ugur Basak 13:58, 1 May 2006 (UTC) reply
thanks. I translated it as underworks, for I didn't fin any suitable translations at all, also. Maybe someone with a musical background could...? yes haluk kurosman is the producer of maNga'ss elf-titled album :) there's no problem with that, I wrote the article, LOL. :D I was just not sure how to translate altyapilar correctly. I know it separately means alt - low, under, down, yapi - work but ... anyway. Thank for the help. -- Teemeah Gül Bahçesi 12:40, 2 May 2006 (UTC) reply
Really its a tough word to translate, it has a wide usage but difficult to translate directly. I just search on google and find these "müzikal altyapısını kısa zamanda oluşturmayı başarır." one of many links to müzik+altyapı. I guess you can understand that sentence, it just says in short time he succeed to form his musical underworks or we can just say basics or his style:) Really a tough one. Btw, i guess you've translated Şebnem Ferah article to :hu from :en which i translated from :tr. Görüşmek üzere. -- Ugur Basak 13:08, 2 May 2006 (UTC) reply
Altyapı is exactly meaning infrastructure. -- Zubeyr Dereli 13:02, 6 May 2006 (UTC) reply

Can you help me?

Could you help me with defining what "yüksek lisans" is in English? I need a proper equivalent. Is it some stage after finishing uni but before starting a PhD programme...? or the PhD programme itself? Or something completely different? One of my friends is going to be a "yüksek mimar" and I'd like to know what kind of architect he actually is going to be :). Yardimin icin tesekkürler -- Teemeah Gül Bahçesi 08:59, 26 May 2006 (UTC) reply

I don't know the exact term in english, but it must be graduate or postgraduate:) As you say it's after finishing university but befor starting PhD. But it's not necessary to start PhD without yüksek lisans. like; both of these ara possible. university -> yüksek lisans -> PhD and university -> PhD . I guess this page can be the exact term Master's degree. Now i've to quit, if you want more explaination i could help you:) Saygılar -- Ugur Basak 10:00, 26 May 2006 (UTC) reply

A little help in a Turkish issue?

Merhaba

I thought to approach you by email instead of leaving a message at your userpage but I found you have not specified any email address here. So I tell my problem here then though it is not related to wikipedia but is related to Turkish history

I am a Hungarian about to start writing my thesis in English about the relations between England and Turkey during Atatürk's lifetime, a period I am most interested in conserning the history of Turkey, and I am going to Istanbul and Ankara in July to do some research work on the topic, and for this I need to fill in an application form that requires listing some of the documents I want to have a look at. The problem is I would need their name. Can you help me suggesting a few documents to consult (in Turkish)? 2-3 is enough. I thought of documents of the Disisler Bakanligi, for example any official notes about the Lausanne conference, or other major conferences/meetings between Turkish and british officials, and books about the life of Atatürk and Ismet Inönü, but I need books that are academically accepted and not just popularized semi-history books because my supervisor is a genius in history and would immediately spot any tiny failures... :D I speak some Turkish (well, somewhere around pre-intermediate level) but I thought to approach you in english for this is the english wikipedia here.

If you could help me a little with these documents I'd be most grateful. Yardiminiz icin tesekkür ederim.

Sevgilerimle, saygilarimla,

Timea

Naming

You moved Tarkan to Tarkan Tevetoğlu saying "that's his proper name!". I just want you to be careful because the proper name is not always the right article title. Take for example 50 Cent whose proper name is apparently Curtis James Jackson III... my point is that sometimes the name you go by in show business is the most important name and the one that should be used. gren グレン 06:33, 27 June 2006 (UTC) reply

There is a degree of ambiguity even in Wikipedia:Naming_conventions_(people) but there is no standard for everyone on Wikipedia. We have John F. Kennedy not John Fitzgerald Kennedy and Bill Clinton not Willian Clinton. I think the best comparison is the use of Madonna (entertainer) instead of Madonna Louise Veronica Ciccone. So, it's not a big deal... but, I do think it goes against our conventions. But, conventions are vague and unless others try to foce you it's pretty inconsequential to me. gren グレン 18:49, 30 June 2006 (UTC) reply

Hi!

I noticed your edits on Turkey related topics and I'm quite surprised (really) that you can write in Turkish this well as a foreigner, shocked at the fact that you don't have any bias on Turks. I am working on Robert College article these days to improve it to pass the GA nomination. Would you like to contribute to the article? What about creating the Hungarian version on Wiki-Hungary? You are into history, as I have seen; Robert College was a party to the Conference of Lausanne, representing foreign educational institutions in Turkey. Bulgarian independence war started at Robert College (five or six of Bulgarian Prime Ministers are RC graduates). Turkish politicians Bülent Ecevit, Tansu Çiller, İsmail Cem are also among graduates.

If you have time, I and Wikipedia would appreciate your edits. By the way, a Hungarian friend of mine told me that Hungarian suffixes were similar to Turkish, and there were many words in common. (He heard it somewhere, he can't speak Turkish, in fact only knows the meaning of Gül.) Anyway, is that right? -- Maestro 19:38, 24 March 2007 (UTC) reply

That's OK, whenever you have time... By the way Robert College is a GA now. -- Maestro 13:12, 26 March 2007 (UTC) reply

Tarkan Gossip

Hi. I don't think I misunderstood what you wrote about Tarkan. You said i know these things, and you know these things, we saw these things on television in several interviews BUT foreign people here did not and therefore they won't believe until they see a linked source. So where are these interviews where Tarkan admitted he was gay and then took it back? That's my point. You make out as though the gossip about his sexual preferences (which he denies and as a living person we should respect that) is true and that somehow Turks know this but we have no proof to show foreign readers made me respond by saying "well I'm a Turk and I don't know what you're on about". Tarkan has been said his not gay since 2001, and never admitted he was on any interview or show I ever saw. Thanks for the advice about reading carefully - maybe you should think carefully ebfore you write, too? Blue sea 21:47, 28 May 2007 (UTC) reply

Non-free use disputed for Image:Yan_yana.jpg

Warning sign This file may be deleted.

Thanks for uploading Image:Yan_yana.jpg. However, there is a concern that the rationale you have provided for using this image under "fair use" may be invalid. Please read carefully the instructions at Wikipedia:Non-free content and then go to the image description page and clarify why you think the image qualifies. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If it is determined that the image does not qualify under fair use, it will be deleted within a couple of days according to our Criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Bigr Tex 20:16, 9 June 2007 (UTC) reply

What is needed is a statement (or rationale) of why you feel that the actual use(s) of this image meet our Non-free content criteria policy. A guideline for preparing a rationale can be found at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline, and there is a lot of discussion at the talk page because of the recent enforcement of missing rationales. ~ Bigr Tex 14:53, 12 June 2007 (UTC) reply

Just butting in here. Maybe I can help. I had to add fair use rationales for all the Tarkan images that I had uploaded. You can go and check these Tarkan images and use as a template if you wish. Deff 6 02:19, 14 June 2007 (UTC) reply

Fair use rationale for Image:Tarkanpromo.jpg

Thanks for uploading or contributing to Image:Tarkanpromo.jpg. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in Wikipedia articles constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use. Suggestions on how to do so can be found here.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the " my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any fair use images uploaded after 4 May, 2006, and lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Bigr Tex 22:03, 18 June 2007 (UTC) reply

Image:Tarkanpromo.jpg

Thanks for uploading Image:Tarkanpromo.jpg. I notice the 'image' page specifies that the image is being used under fair use, but its use in Wikipedia articles fails our first fair use criterion in that it illustrates a subject for which a freely licensed image could reasonably be found or created that provides substantially the same information. If you believe this image is not replaceable, please:

  1. Go to the image description page and edit it to add {{Replaceable fair use disputed}}, without deleting the original Replaceable fair use template.
  2. On the image discussion page, write the reason why this image is not replaceable at all.

Alternatively, you can also choose to replace the fair use image by finding a freely licensed image of its subject, requesting that the copyright holder release this (or a similar) image under a free license, or by taking a picture of it yourself.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified how these images fully satisfy our fair use criteria. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on this link. Note that any fair use images which are replaceable by free-licensed alternatives will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Bigr Tex 17:11, 20 June 2007 (UTC) reply

-- Zubeyr Dereli 13:02, 6 May 2006 (UTC) reply
but not in the musicial sense, I suppose.... -- Teemeah Gül Bahçesi 14:48, 6 May 2006 (UTC) reply

Teşekkürler zaman ayırdığın için . It's not a big problem, if rest of the page is OK. I shortened the intro because of the messages on the featured portal candidacy page. With the quote it's very hard to place Atatürk's photograph somewhere on intro without seperating it from the text. Various sized lines are because of "center" code on the page, and I removed it now. Also you can change it in order to make it better. -- Bugtrio | Talk 19:47, 6 January 2007 (UTC) reply
