Hello, and welcome

Hi Ultimoed; it's nice to have another Rhode Island editor on wikipedia. I do a lot of Rhode Island history, mostly colonial people (governors and early settlers). Seeing that you are a Cranston librarian really struck a chord with me. My grandparents, while living, lived in the big house next door to the Oaklawn branch library. I spent many summers at that house, and two years ago my wife and I stopped by there and talked to the current owners. It was a nostalgic visit. Also, the owner of the Edward Searle House in Oaklawn is an old friend of mine from half a century ago. I was interested in several of the projects in which you are hoping to engage, such as historic Oaklawn. Best wishes with your forthcoming editing. Thanks for reaching out to me! I would be very interested in collaborating to try and add more information to the Oaklawn village page. I am currently researching Fiskeville to try and update that stub. I'm trying to get the library staff more empowered to edit and add entries about Cranston and RI. I was trying to reach out to the Wikipedia Loves Libraries effort to find someone who might be able to come in to the library and train staff members on editing Wikipedia. Would that be something you might be interested in doing? Ultimoed ( talk) 1:31PM, 7 November 2012

I had not heard of Fiskeville before your mention of it. Kudos for your outreach to other librarians. Though interested in helping, I live in Maryland so am not disposed to doing anything in RI. I hope you'll be editing Fiskeville soon; I'll put it on my watchlist so that I can follow along. Sarnold17 ( talk) 10:11, 8 November 2012 (UTC) reply

2019 US Banknote Contest

US Banknote Contest
November-December 2019

There are an estimated 30,000 different varieties of United States banknotes, yet only a fraction of these are represented on Wikimedia Commons in the form of 2D scans. Additionally, Colonial America, the Confederate States, the Republic of Texas, multiple states and territories, communities, and private companies have issued banknotes that are in the public domain today but are absent from Commons.

In the months of November and December, WikiProject Numismatics will be running a cross-wiki upload-a-thon, the 2019 US Banknote Contest. The goal of the contest is to increase the number of US banknote images available to content creators on all Wikimedia projects. Participants will claim points for uploading and importing 2D scans of US banknotes, and at the end of the contest all will receive awards. Whether you want to claim the Gold Wiki or you just want to have fun, all are invited to participate.

If you do not want to receive invitations to future US Banknote Contests, follow the instructions here
