I was so impressed and blown away by your diligent research in our discussion in WP:AMOS that I was compelled to award you this well-deserved Barnstar of Diligence. Thank you so much for the hard work. - Anas talk? 21:17, 22 March 2007 (UTC) |
It's a pleasure to meet you, Dr. Swan — yeah, did a Google search. I'm a Canadian-Syrian young man living in Saudi Arabia for the time being (off to Canada in a few months). It always gratifies me to learn from an experienced person like you. :-) If you ever need any help or assistance, please feel free to contact me in my talk page, or send me an e-mail. Thanks again, have a good day. - Anas talk? 21:17, 22 March 2007 (UTC)

Just popped up on my watchlist. Would you like some help designing your user page? :-) — Anas talk? 15:00, 7 April 2007 (UTC)
Very valid points indeed. I do also believe that Paul Anka is, historically, of Syrian ancestry. He was born to Syrian parents and sang in a Syrian church, but his parents were Maronites, so undoubtedly Anka himself asserts that he is of Lebanese descent. I think it's not a major issue actually. What's important is that we have noted that in the article. Being in a certain category or tagged as part of WP:SY is no big deal. Thanks for the information and the link. :-) Regards, Anas talk? 18:07, 8 April 2007 (UTC)
Swan, as the page move is disputed, please go through Requests for page moves. As I recall, this involves organizing a mini poll on the page, then asking an uninvolved admin to interpret the results and make the decision. Many thanks, SlimVirgin (talk) 22:49, 11 April 2007 (UTC)

Hello, ais523. I've been working on some edits in the article "American and British English differences." Problems keep cropping up though. It seems if I do a longish edit, the "save" blanks out the first two and 1/2 sections of the article. This just happened when I tried to save an edit adding a reference to the article. The first time this happened, I thought it was vandalism and just reverted back to an earlier edit. But it keeps happening. Any trouble shooting ideas? Cyg-nifier 16:54, 16 April 2007 (UTC)
I'm getting the strong impression that you're going around adding your personal views to Wikipedia, whether it be about Harvard referencing or anything else, which is why I'm requesting sources for your edits. Rather than throwing out accusations of harassment, it would make more sense for you simply to provide the sources, and to read the content policies, which will save you problems like this in future: see WP:NOR, WP:V, and WP:CITE. Also, have you edited Wikipedia with any other user name/IP? I'm getting a strong sense of déja vu from some of your editing and your responses. SlimVirgin (talk) 21:28, 29 April 2007 (UTC)
As you're reverting a lot, I should also warn you about our 3RR policy. Please take the time to review it carefully. Many thanks, SlimVirgin (talk) 21:31, 29 April 2007 (UTC)

Hey, I appreciate you assisting with the Wikipedia:Citing sources related articles.. I feel they are some of the most important to the project. Please don't be discouraged that not all your changes have stuck, it happens to everyone. There are plenty of other details (and gaping holes) which would benefit from your attention! Also, if you are sure about something, strong and specific sources will work wonders. Stick around,.. feel free to drop any questions or requests my way. ∴ here… ♠ 04:36, 1 May 2007 (UTC)
Hi Swan (if I may..), how's it going? :-) You don't need to sign your edit summary usage comments. I just noticed you have signed all of them; I think you assumed signing them would register your name in the edit history, but that is done automatically. Cheers, Anas talk? 18:08, 15 May 2007 (UTC)

Greetings from the
League of Copyeditors. Your name is listed on our
members page, but we are unsure how many of the people listed there are still active contributors to the League's activities. If you are still interested in participating in the work of the League, please follow the instructions at the
members page to add your name to the active members list. Once you have done that, you might want to familiarise yourself with the
new requests system, which has replaced the old
/proofreading subpage. As the old system is now deprecated, the main efforts of the League should be to clear the substantial
backlog which still exists there. The League's services are in as high demand as ever, as evinced by the increasing backlog on our requests pages, both old and new. While FA and GA reviewers regularly praise the League's contributions to reviewed articles, we remain perennially understaffed. Fulfilling requests to polish the prose of Wikipedia's highest-profile articles is a way that editors can make a very noticeable difference to the appearance of the encyclopedia. On behalf of the League, if you do consider yourself to have left, I hope you will consider rejoining; if you consider yourself inactive, I hope you will consider returning to respond to just one request per week, or as many as you can manage. Merry Christmas and happy editing, The League of Copyeditors. |

I've reraised an issue at Harvard referencing on changing Harvard referencing to author-date referencing before Wikipedia changes the reality. Author-date is a much more intuitive name. OptimistBen ( talk) 05:26, 15 April 2008 (UTC)
