Welcome to Wikipedia!

Hi there, Shelby! Welcome to Wikipedia. I'm TI. Gracchus, and think I can speak for everyone when I say I'm glad you're here. I started on Wikipedia as part of a college class myself, but I've stayed on (albiet with some pretty large hiatuses) because being a Wikipedian can actually be really satisfying and fun.

I see you've found the China Wikiproject, and I'd invite you to become a member yourself! That way other people in the project will be able to seek you out based on your expertise. Despite the huge size of the project, there aren't all that many people working on it, and none of them list "women," "feminism," or even "NGOs" as areas of speciality. Having you on board would really bring an entirely new and valuable set of skills and expertise to the project community.

If you're interested, all you have to do is add yourself to the list of Project China participants. There's no approval process, no commitment of any kind, and you can remove yourself from the list whenever you like. It's just a way of letting like-minded people know you're here. There are also Wikiprojects for feminism, gender studies, political movements, government, and other related topics which can be found in the list of History and society Wikiprojects. Even if you don't join, watching these pages, or their subpages where new projects are listed, is a good way to keep informed on what tasks could use your help.

If you do join a Wikiproject, you can add also add a project's userbox to your profile so people stopping by your page can see your interests. If you're interested in reaching out through your user page, or just like bright colors like I do, please stop by my page to see one way to display them.

Anyway, I don't want to talk (type?) your ear off, so I'll leave it at that. Hopefully I haven't just told you a bunch of stuff you already know - if I did, thanks for your patience in slogging through this message! :)

Welcome again to Wikipedia! Be bold, edit bravely, and, most of all, have fun! TI. Gracchus ( talk) 20:26, 19 February 2014 (UTC) reply

Welcome to Wikipedia! This little game is a fun way to learn editing skills and WP's basic content policies in a short time. It takes about an hour, but it doesn't have to be done in one sitting. Hope you enjoy it! Madalibi ( talk) 06:50, 25 February 2014 (UTC) reply
