Welcome!

Hello, Re4sonkernel, and welcome to Wikipedia! Thank you for your contributions.

I noticed that one of the first articles you edited was Kali NetHunter, which appears to be dealing with a topic with which you may have a conflict of interest. In other words, you may find it difficult to write about that topic in a neutral and objective way, because you are, work for, or represent, the subject of that article. Your recent contributions may have already been undone for this very reason.

To reduce the chances of your contributions being undone, you might like to draft your revised article before submission, and then ask me or another editor to proofread it. See our help page on userspace drafts for more details. If the page you created has already been deleted from Wikipedia, but you want to save the content from it to use for that draft, don't hesitate to ask anyone from this list and they will copy it to your user page.

One rule we do have in connection with conflicts of interest is that accounts used by more than one person will unfortunately be blocked from editing. Wikipedia generally does not allow editors to have usernames which imply that the account belongs to a company or corporation. If you have a username like this, you should request a change of username or create a new account. (A name that identifies the user as an individual within a given organization may be OK.)

In addition, if you receive, or expect to receive, compensation for any contribution you make, you must disclose your employer, client, and affiliation to comply with our terms of use and our policy on paid editing.

Here are some pages that you might find helpful:

I hope you enjoy editing here and being a Wikipedian! Please sign your messages on talk pages using four tildes (~~~~); this will automatically insert your username and the date. If you need help, check out Wikipedia:Questions, ask me on my talk page, or ask your question on this page and then place {{Help me}} before the question. Again, welcome! More brief hello

Hi Re4sonkernel, Thanks for the screenshot and all the updates! This edit was what got my attention, especially deleting " Debian-derived" (Isn't it?) and the 2019 improved support for installing... with a linux-magazine.de source. The article is already light on "reliable, secondary sources" to support "notability," so we need to add more sources, not delete them. :) You really should also heed the Conflict of Interest stuff too. Cheers! -- Yae4 ( talk) 08:09, 4 April 2020 (UTC) reply

Thanks for your feedback

Hi Yae4, Thanks heaps for the info. Yes, I might have a conflict of interest being a contributor to the project and I'd appreciate it if someone could proofread my contributions. "Debian derived" didn't flow well in that particular context but we can add that to the "Kali Linux" portion. NetHunter itself is not a Debian derivative, Kali Linux within the container is. I removed "the 2019 improved support for installing... with a linux-magazine.de source" because that part of the article was not referring to NetHunter at all but to Kali Linux and the quoted "Wine and new installation workflow" were Kali features and are not applicable to NetHunter. This article looks like a German translation of the original blog post that summarised changes in Kali and NetHunter and someone seemed to have mixed those two up. I will spend more time today adding referrences to blog posts and articles in english so we can pick up on those mistakes. I really appreciate your help and I hope that I won't be causing too much work. Re4sonkernel ( talk) 01:26, 5 April 2020 (UTC) reply

Updates

Hi Yae4, Thanks again for your feedback. Could you please have a look at my userspace draft and let me know if there is anything you'd like me to change before merging with the nethunter page? I have added plenty of references and more content. Hope it meets your standards.

Many thanks. I much appreciate your help. Re4sonkernel ( talk) 03:14, 5 April 2020 (UTC) reply

Updates feedback

Hi Re4sonkernel, Glad to help. Thanks for being understanding, open, and positive about it all.

I'm not a good wikilawyer, so I'm not going to link to the many policies and guides that address things. There's lots of "what wikipedia is" and "what WP is not" articles available, probably linked above. These are just my thoughts. Take it all as just "In my opinion." If you want more suggestions with "authority," user/admin Newslinger has been generally helpful and responsive, and seems to have good WP links at their fingertips.

For the COI stuff, take care and good luck. It's a minefield and sensitive thing at WP... You could see the Replicant article Talk, and user GNUtoo user page, for examples. I'll put the "COI edit tag" on the NetHunter Talk page. I'm happy to make changes (assuming I agree). Offensive Security could also use some updates, so I welcome any suggestions for that too. Comments follow:

  • Thanks for clarifying. "Debian-derived" is in Kali Linux, so that's probably good enough; it's OK not being in NetHunter. That said, a summary of those connections or changes or a few details (Debian->KL->NetHunter overlay) could be interesting info, somewhere.
  • linux-magazine.de source: I suggest then using it as another source for statements about devices, F-Droid NetHunter store, and tools.
  • Weak Suggestion: Don't make the device list in the Lead section any longer, and consider making it shorter, or moving it down in the article. To me, the lead is not the greatest place for lists of devices. I like seeing a summary of what it is, what makes it different, or interesting, up top, and will dig deeper in the article, and go to download pages, which are the better place to keep updated lists of devices, if interested.
    • Aside: I don't like including (usually long) lists of devices (which may need updating, and become out of date) in Wikipedia, in general. But many articles do anyway... Similar for current versions in infoboxes. There should be a way to automate that, but I don't know it yet.
  • Suggest wiki-linking Offensive Security the first time it appears, not lower in the lead.
  • [1] Goes to a page that says "documentation has moved." Suggest going direct to the "moved to" page directly (unless you're referencing something specifically in the old page that isn't in the new one).
  • Last sentence in lead: "by a large community" sounds like "puffery," is vague, and makes it sound like advertising. I'd delete it unless you can find a reliable secondary source saying that.
    • Aside: FYI, All the github, gitlab, kali.org, offensive-security.com links are "primary" sources. They are OK for basic, uncontroversial facts, but should be minimized, and outside/independent "secondary" sources are preferred.
  • [13] Link is to the "Rootless Edition". Should go to www.kali.org/docs/nethunter/#1-0-nethunter-editions ?
  • Daniel W. Dieterle book, amazon link: Maybe change to Google books link. I know those are OK; less sure about amazon links.
  • General: The article could be criticized for almost looking like an abbreviated copy of that "moved to" documentation page, unless/until there is a "reliable secondary source" to point to with similar info. But, it's a balancing act... You've left out a lot of details, and mostly included just the screenshots, and a few details, so maybe it's OK... It's somewhat more relaxed in less controversial articles.

Thanks again for all the updates and corrections! -- Yae4 ( talk) 07:12, 5 April 2020 (UTC) reply

Feedback incorporated

Awesome feedback Yae4! Thanks heaps for taking the time and doing such an amazing job. I've incorporated all your sugestions and it's looking much better now. Good point with it looking like an abbreviated copy of the documentation page but that's kind of the intention because people didn't read the documentation page but only read the wikipedia page and got the wrong ideas. We are updating all the documentation pages and hope that they will be reflected in the mainstream media which, in turn, we can use as secondary sources. Thanks again for your help. I much appreciate it! Re4sonkernel ( talk) 08:20, 5 April 2020 (UTC) reply

Re4sonkernel, Updates have been incorporated, with minor copyedit changes here and there. FYI, the Dieterle book banged into a "self published" (or something) filter warning, but looks like a good source to me, based on the Bio. I see I messed up a Reference somehow, so that will need fixing, and let me know if you see anything else needing fixing. Cheers! -- Yae4 ( talk) 10:17, 5 April 2020 (UTC) reply
