Strange, it does say that. But the map on that site shows Lamy as the next station. Well, I know it was a mistake on Amtrak's part. I live in Albuquerque, and I know where all those towns are. :-) PerryPlanet 18:28, 23 October 2006 (UTC) reply

Hi

Thanks for the recent edits on ABQ Ride. Good to see a fellow Abq-er ('cept I'm moving on Monday) who uses the transit system.

Just wanted to say I looked at your blog and particularly liked this gem:

I really hate to say it, but no mass transit system is going to solve the traffic problem on the West Side. You people chose to live in the suburbs, you chose to deal with the traffic. No amount of buses or light rail is going to solve the West Side traffic problem, because everyone out there convinetly(sic) decided to live miles and miles from anything, making all modes of public transit pretty much useless.

Huzzah! Take that you SUV-drivin', pedestrian-ignorin', pollution-lovin' numb-nuts. Glippy00 01:01, 16 December 2006 (UTC) reply

Amen! Thanks for your comment, that definetly brightened my day. PerryPlanet 18:58, 15 December 2006 (UTC) reply

ABQ RIDE new buses

You seem to know quite a bit on what is going on in Albuquerque. In January 2006, ABQ RIDE supposedly ordered Gillig Advantage Hybrids. The article mentions this. However, in December 2006, there was a New Flyer DE40LFR doing test runs in Albuquerque. The bus resembled the one in the following link: [2]. It even featured the same livery. Do you happen to know about who has won the contract for ABQ RIDE's new 40-foot buses? Most bus drivers tell me the new buses are New Flyers. It would make sense for ABQ RIDE to go with New Flyer, since they already operate DE60LFs and have six more being delivered in the coming weeks. I know that for sure the new buses will be 40-foot low-floor diesel-electric hybrids. They will replace 35 of the 100 and 200 series TMC RTS buses. Andros 1337 04:05, 31 January 2007 (UTC) reply

ABQ RIDE DE60LFs

Hey, today I saw two of ABQ RIDE's new DE60LFs. The new buses are the 6600 series, I saw 6604 and 6605 today. They look similar to the current fleet, but with different-looking windows. They still feature the front multicolor destination signs, and do NOT feature New Flyer's restyled front end. Thanks. Andros 1337 15:52, 5 March 2007 (UTC) reply

PRT edits from anon IP

Did you make these edits? You were recently editing the PRT article and you are from Albuquerque, which is where the IP address is from, so I thought maybe it was you and you forgot to log in. If it was you, was there a reason you removed PRT links from everywhere? If it wasn't you, well, then nevermind. :-) ATren 02:13, 4 September 2007 (UTC) reply

No, it wasn't me. It's weird though, it seems like all of us anti-PRT people are on Wikipedia today. I was editing the PRT article today, and so was Avidor, and then there's this loon.
I do know a few people at school who share my anti-PRT feelings, maybe one of them did this. PerryPlanet 02:23, 4 September 2007 (UTC) reply
OK, I was just wondering if there was a good reason for the edits, but if it wasn't you then I'm guessing it was just some random IP editor expressing his POV, and the reverts were correct. Thanks. :-) ATren 03:07, 4 September 2007 (UTC) reply

Update on new buses

Hello Perry. I just noticed that on your blog that ABQ RIDE has just got one of the first new buses delivered. You stated on your blog that the Alibi shows an image of one of them. I personally would like to see it. Could you explain what it looks like? I was told that it looks like a shorter version of the Rapid Ride buses painted in a red livery but without the Rapid Ride titles. Any images or descriptions would be helpful. ANDROS1337 00:56, 4 October 2007 (UTC) reply

ABQ RIDE article

Hello there. It has been a while since I sent you a comment. However, I have noticed that you haven't made any edits on the ABQ RIDE article in a while. Specifically, I would have expected that you would have uploaded a picture of one of ABQ RIDE's new 700 series buses by now. I know there are several in service now, so simply taking a good picture wouldn't be very difficult. You took the picture for the Rapid Ride bus on the ABQ RIDE article.

Speaking of the 700-series buses, I finally got to ride on one yesterday on the 155 route. They are nice and quiet. However, they do not have as much capacity as the 300-series buses due to the low floor design. ANDROS1337 23:39, 23 January 2008 (UTC) reply

Ooh, good point. Unfortunately, they're rather unexpected and every time I see one I don't have my camera. But I'll try to catch one. PerryPlanet ( talk) 04:12, 24 January 2008 (UTC) reply

Update to ABQ RIDE article

Just to let you know, I replaced the gallery at the bottom of the ABQ RIDE article with small images inside the fleet table, modeling it after the Bus models used in New York City Transit and MTA Bus article. While it may not be possible to get images for every bus type in ABQ RIDE's fleet, Busboy at ABQ Bus stories has an image of a 6600-series Rapid Ride bus: [3]. I noticed that you are a member of that blog, and if possible, could you ask the owner of that blog (Busboy) if you can use that 6600-series bus image here on Wikipedia? Thanks. ANDROS1337 18:33, 25 February 2008 (UTC) reply

Edit: Also, don't worry about getting an image of a 100-series bus or bus 436. The 100-series buses are becoming rare as they are being phased out, and getting a picture of 436 will be very difficult as it is one of a kind. Bus 436 isn't really assigned to any particular route, it simply rotates between routes in and out of the Daytona Transit Facility, operating in place of a 100, 200, or 700 series bus. More ABQ RIDE updates

Well, it has been quite a while since I last responded to your talk page. However, I have an update about ABQ RIDE. Online, I have found an audit that states that ABQ RIDE will be acquiring 30-35 new buses in addition to the ones that have already been delivered by last March. However, it makes no mention of who will be the supplier of the buses, nor does it mention how long the buses will be. I actually wonder if they will replace the 300 or 400 series buses, or will be used for service expansion. I wonder if they will be numbered as the 800 series.

Here is the audit right here: http://www.cabq.gov/audit/pdf/MicrosoftWord-07-04-104FFinal051308vmd.pdf

Latest ABQ RIDE updates

Well, I know you now know that ABQ RIDE will be ordering 30-40 regular buses (presumably 40-footers) and 10 Rapid Ride articulated buses, as you have posted it in your blog. However, the manufacturer of the buses has not been selected. I actually called the City of Albuquerque purchasing department, and the person I spoke to said that the deadline for the bids should be by the end of this month. As I stated, in addition to New Flyer, I assume that Gillig, NABI, and Nova Bus will make bids as well at least for the new regular (40-foot) buses. Of course, we won't know who ABQ RIDE will go with until at least a month from now.

FYI, I know you are a member of the ABQ Bus Riders group on DukeCityFix.com. I don't know if you have seen it, however, I made a poll on which bus do you think should ABQ RIDE order for the new 40-footers. Of course, I am a New Flyer fan, however, the poll includes four options (New Flyer, Gillig, NABI, and Nova): [4]. I hope that you have time to vote in my poll. Thanks. Thanks for creating this article. I made a few changes (such as the current renovation of Mitchell Hall). As a suggestion though, I perhaps would suggest you should include a section of past buildings that have been demolished (such as Tapy Hall, which was torn down last fall). Other than that, it is a great article! ANDROS1337 19:07, 5 May 2009 (UTC) reply

Once again, thanks for creating the article. I can't wait until Mitchell Hall re-opens for the Spring 2010 semester.

Anyway, if you are curious, here is what the new Mitchell Hall will have:

  • A new computer pod.
  • Wireless internet access.
  • A new food mart, similar to the one at Dane Smith Hall.
  • New energy-efficient windows.
  • Improved heating and cooling.
  • Restrooms on the first and second floors.
  • A brand new KONE EcoSpace machine room-less traction elevator. This elevator will use 1/3 the energy of a hydraulic elevator, and it will talk ("First Floor, Going Up").
  • Built-in projectors and motorized screens in classrooms.

I am pretty sure there are several other improvements as well. ANDROS1337 02:00, 6 May 2009 (UTC) reply

Suggestion for WikiProject United States to support WikiProject New Mexico

It was recently suggested that WikiProject New Mexico, to which you are a member, may be inactive or semi-active and it might be beneficial to include it in the list of projects supported by WikiProject United States. After reviewing the project it appears that there haven't been much active discussion on the talk page in some time and the only content updates appear to be simple maintenance so being supported by a larger project might be beneficial. I have begun a discussion on the projects talk page to see how the members of the project feel about this suggestion. Another user has added the project to the WPUS template and I added it to the list of supported projects in the WPUS main project page but before I take any further action I wanted to contact each of the active members for their input. -- Kumioko ( talk) 14:48, 8 August 2011 (UTC) reply

Pit pics

Hello. For several months I've been developing the Lobo basketball page, and I've recently revamped the The Pit page. Thank you for your excellent pics of The Pit, which I have put to use on both pages. So then ... got any more? ;) I don't want to flood the pages with images, but a couple of good quality interior pics would be greatly appreciated. Especially one like this, with the arena empty, like this, with it full, or shots of the new amenities on the concourse. If you don't have time or access to the building, or if you aren't in Albuquerque any more, I'll certainly understand. But I thought I'd ask. The Lobo basketball page, in particular, is getting quite heavy with text, and a couple more good pics would be a nice improvement. Honolulu Map

Hello, I was wondering how you generated the Honolulu map here: https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:Honolulu_districts_map.svg

I checked out Open Street Map, but wasn't able to replicate the image. Thanks Traversc ( talk) 23:20, 1 August 2016 (UTC) reply

That image was actually created by me using an image program called Inkscape and downloaded roads and shoreline data from Open Street Map. It's not something you would be able to generate in Open Street Map; I recolored a lot of stuff and added some labels of my own for the purposes of a Wikivoyage map. PerryPlanet ( talk) 01:01, 2 August 2016 (UTC) reply
Hey, thanks! What boundaries did you use for the districts? I like how it doesn't include the forest reserve and non-building wilderness areas. I couldn't find that information on OpenStreetMap. Also on an unrelated note, the current administrative boundaries on OSM don't include Pearl Harbor as part of Honolulu. I was wondering your thoughts on that. I drew the boundaries myself. On Wikivoyage, we break up our content on large cities into "districts", which we divide on the basis of travel content. Which also means we don't have to strictly adhere to official city boundaries. PerryPlanet ( talk) 17:12, 3 August 2016 (UTC) reply

2019 US Banknote Contest

US Banknote Contest
November-December 2019

There are an estimated 30,000 different varieties of United States banknotes, yet only a fraction of these are represented on Wikimedia Commons in the form of 2D scans. Additionally, Colonial America, the Confederate States, the Republic of Texas, multiple states and territories, communities, and private companies have issued banknotes that are in the public domain today but are absent from Commons.

In the months of November and December, WikiProject Numismatics will be running a cross-wiki upload-a-thon, the 2019 US Banknote Contest. The goal of the contest is to increase the number of US banknote images available to content creators on all Wikimedia projects. Participants will claim points for uploading and importing 2D scans of US banknotes, and at the end of the contest all will receive awards. Whether you want to claim the Gold Wiki or you just want to have fun, all are invited to participate.

If you do not want to receive invitations to future US Banknote Contests, follow the instructions here

ANDROS1337 20:09, 25 February 2008 (UTC) reply

Thanks again, Laszlo Panaflex ( talk) 05:18, 27 October 2013 (UTC) reply

Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page.

Traversc ( talk) 22:07, 2 August 2016 (UTC) reply
