If you want to make any further unblock requests, please read the guide to appealing blocks first, then use the {{ unblock}} template again. If you make too many unconvincing or disruptive unblock requests, you may be prevented from editing this page until your block has expired. Do not remove this unblock review while you are blocked.

Explain this nonsense. -- Yamla ( talk) 14:45, 21 March 2024 (UTC) reply

I reviewed that request, it seemed to make sense to me but I couldn't work out how to actually unblock them. Yamla - are you able to assist in unblocking us both please? Thanks. Obie Douglas PhD ( talk) 15:27, 21 March 2024 (UTC) reply
That's not remotely a sufficient explanation. Why on earth did you think it was appropriate for you to review the unblock request? How did you find that particular unblock request? Are you aware that you do not have the ability to lift the block? I mean, come on, surely that's obvious? I see no reason to lift your block at this time. -- Yamla ( talk) 15:30, 21 March 2024 (UTC) reply
That seems extraordinarily harsh for one simple mistake! Please can I have another chance? Obie Douglas PhD ( talk) 15:40, 21 March 2024 (UTC) reply
Answer the questions I'm asking you. -- Yamla ( talk) 15:42, 21 March 2024 (UTC) reply
"Why on earth did you think it was appropriate for you to review the unblock request?" I didn't realise I wasn't allowed to. I thought the point of Wikipedia was that everyone can contribute, I didn't realise it didn't apply here.
"How did you find that particular unblock request?" I stumbled across the category page whilst looking at templates, and saw there was a randomiser button. Thought I'd give it a go.
"Are you aware that you do not have the ability to lift the block?" I wasn't at the time, but am now thanks to this thread. In hindsight, I guess it is obvious. Obie Douglas PhD ( talk) 16:01, 21 March 2024 (UTC) reply
Well, I'm not going to lift the block, but I won't oppose another admin doing so if they think they can trust you to edit appropriately from now on. -- Yamla ( talk) 16:03, 21 March 2024 (UTC) reply
I understand, thankyou Yamla. Obie Douglas PhD ( talk) 16:34, 21 March 2024 (UTC) reply
What edits do you intend to make? I assume that you will no longer involve yourself with unblock requests? 331dot ( talk) 18:03, 21 March 2024 (UTC) reply
I specialise in post-Soviet border disputes amongst the former republics (primarily the Baltic states). I was intending to update/enhance the content in pages such as [1] once I'd familiarised myself with the editing process. I wasn't expecting to find myself blocked so quickly! Again, I assume you will not involve yourself with unblock requests? 331dot ( talk) 08:01, 1 April 2024 (UTC) reply
No I will certainly not be making that mistake again, believe me! Obie Douglas PhD ( talk) 22:55, 4 April 2024 (UTC) reply
