In that case, the section was even more wrong. They weren't "aligned with evil"; they were paralyzed into inaction by the influence gained by Saruman over the king through Wormtongue.

Besides, this is a featured article we're talking about, and an entirely unreferenced section simply should not be added. I also have no need to go to the article talk page about this.
