Hello Nicholas, I am an Admin on the German Wikipedia (de:WP). I was rather surprised about this edit of yours. Aside from the fact that you have no admin privileges on de:WP, this is not how we propose a Deletion on de:WP, let alone actually delete an article. Hi Nick,
Would you mind helping re-establish a non-advertising orientated ooVoo definition and reference. The page was created by consumers interested in sharing knowledge about the company and finding out more about its origins. I work for ooVoo and have helped to maintain the page following examples of similar companies trying to ensure it was not overtly advertorial.
I would appeal that if there were elements that were overtly advertising related, that these elements are removed. Removing the entire reference to the company and service is a little extreme.

I accept that your edit was more considered than others who feel that Burns' authorship of the Auld Lang Syne verses needs challenging, and that calling your changes "BS" was probably a bit out of order. On the other hand, I notice someone else has already reverted YOUR changes. Have a look at what has already been said on this article's discussion page on the topic, and feel free to add your own comment there. That is really the place to bring up changes to an article when those changes are proving very unpopular and are getting reverted (as you can see from the history I am far from the only editor doing this at this particular point). One thing that may be causing confusion - this article is about the full five stanza poem by Burns, not the original folk song - snatches of which have surfaced in the verses of other Scots poets. In fact the exact form of the original song is essentially unknown - except by inference from the points in common of the various "literary" verses that may or may not be derived from it, but seems unlikely to have run for more than a single stanza. Like many "collected" folk songs it may in fact have been a mere fragment. This whole question is an old perennial - every year some politician, journalist, or other media personality comes up with some superficial stuff about Auld Lang Syne - attributing its authorship, and the writing of the melody, to all kinds of people. The matter HAS been carefully researched, and we think we have basically got it pretty right. - The BoE license is NOT a 'free' license like CC-BY-SA is , thusly under Wikipedia policy, it needs a fair use rationale,
which could give exactly the same explanation you left on my talk page. I can't delete (or restore the image) concerned, you will need to find an admin to do that. Also , the images of banknotes may have been tagged for deletion sometime ago given that the license given by the BoE had 'technically' expired. Obviously BoE banknotes ARE fair-use on Wikipedia, so it's advised that you get the BoE to give an 'official' renewal via the permissions queue. The reason BoE banknote images are not 'free' is due to the rather stringent rules the UK has about potential counterfeits. ShakespeareFan00 ( talk) 13:34, 11 October 2010 (UTC)
