Hi -- are you sure the stress is on the i, and not on the a? Please discuss at Talk:Yolanda Saldívar. Thanks. -- Nlu 07:22, 13 October 2005 (UTC)

I adjusted the article name to accomodate the change made on March 31—I'm not entirely positive where the stress is located. McMillin24 ( talk) 21:47, 13 October 2005 (UTC)~

Mcmillin24, when I post information about an article, you can be trusted it will turn out to be true. I had sources close to the band, in this case, that informed me prior to the official announcement.

You should be the one treading carefully.

That looks great, thanks! -- Kristbg 18:57, 9 June 2006 (UTC)

publically is NOT an incorrect spelling, if you look it up in something like the say, i don't know, merriam-webster's dictionary, you would see that it is an acceptable variant - 68.32.34.152 18:34, 21 July 2006 (UTC)

Dispute resolution help

Hi. I found your name on the member list for WP:IOWA, and I was hoping you could help me get a better understanding of the dispute resolution process or perhaps help me in an informal manner. A couple of editors have recently added some irrelevant—and in some cases offensive—information to the Ottumwa High School article. While I'm sure that most school articles (especially high school articles) often experience this type of nonsensical editing, an attempt to politely negotiate with Imfromottumwa ( talk · contribs) seems to confirm that he/she'll not be reasonable when discussing edits. What's the next step for an article where a further revert would cause me to violate WP:3RR? -- McMillin24 contribs talk 23:00, 14 September 2006 (UTC)

Thanks for your note, MacMillin.
The material this user/these users added was certainly offensive, and both users (if they really were seperate users) had been warned, then continued to add the material, in what added up to multiple reverts to the same version. I have placed both accounts on a 24 hour block, and the user or users will be free to edit once the block expires. You did exactly the right thing by not reverting past 3 times, and seeking out assistance. You are also free to post any problems on WP:AN/I. Seems like you're a civil sort, and I look forward to seeing you around the Iowa articles and on Wikipedia. Please do let me know if the abuse continues when the block expires. Your attention to quality is important and appreciated. :) Best wishes, Firsfron of Ronchester 01:58, 15 September 2006 (UTC)
No problem. Keep up the great contributions, and feel free to drop me a note any time. Happy editing! :) Firsfron of Ronchester 03:34, 15 September 2006 (UTC)

for reverting vandalism on my userpage. -- After Midnight 0001 20:28, 1 October 2006 (UTC)

Hello Ottumwa expert

I hope this is the right place to do this.

I've been looking for a HS friend lately and have a feeling you might be able to help.

We were in meistersingers together back in the day ('97).

Any information would be appreciated, I realize this is public and I'm not currently clever enough to send a private msg.

Lo siento.

First of all, congratulations for a great work! The peer review page is on my watchlist already :)

Oh, and thanks for letting me know! It's about time a U2-related article gets promoted to FA status... speaking of which, I've been trying to add references to the U2 article. We could use some help there! -- Kristbg 00:36, 17 October 2006 (UTC)

...and thanks for letting me know again! I'll be watching the discussion... good luck! -- Kristbg 10:52, 15 December 2006 (UTC)

Nice work on the article. I am adding a few bits and peices, hope you don't mind - i see you have the glorious book. One question: ref no. 18. Refers to the Sydney Zoo TV video, but the song wasn't played in SYdney 1993. have i missed something? -- Merbabu 13:02, 15 December 2006 (UTC)

Orphaned fair use image (Image:Coldplay What If.jpg)

Thanks for uploading Image:Coldplay What If.jpg. I notice the 'image' page currently specifies that the image is unlicensed for use on Wikipedia and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable under fair use (see our fair use policy).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the " my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any fair use images not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. Gay Cdn (talk) (Contr.) 16:07, 3 December 2006 (UTC)

Flag of South Africa FAR

When you submit an article for FAR, as you did with this one, please do not remove the {{featured}} tag from the article. Perhaps inadvertently, you removed the tag from this article. The article must first be examined and discussed, and the contributers must have the time to address concerns. Additionally, it is also suggested that one notify all concerned parties (article creator, FA nominator, relevant project pages) with the notice it has been submitted to FAr. This is astressful process, and we don't want to engender any more ill will than necessary. Thanks. Jeffpw 22:31, 21 January 2007 (UTC)

Sunday Bloody Sunday

Stuck at home in the ice, I came upon the Sunday Bloody Sunday article, which is the only time in my history of messing around with wikipedia that I actually thought "Hey, this would make a good featured article." Then I noticed that it had been nominated, but failed.

Not sure if you're the one to ramble to, but what the heck...

Maybe some of the changes had already been made, but it seems to me that the major complaints about the article are 1) The prose isn't "brilliant", whatever that means and 2) Too many references. I'll take those with the assuming good faith grain of salt.

What I liked about the article is 1) it IS referenced, as it should be 2) There is a discussion of the song in a "clinical" way (i.e. very high-level music theory POV) 3) Discusses the sociological impact of the song vis-a-vis its message and target audience, 4) provided a general history of the song in live performances, which is significant for a band like U2, which has had several notable tours over the past two decades, and 5) Though I don't know what constitutes "brilliant" prose in encyclopedic writing, I say that its qualifies. Tom Clancy and Stephen King may not write "brilliant" prose, but they spina pretty good yarn. And this article is certainly written better than Red Storm Rising or The Stand.

Overall, however, I was struck by the "Musical structure and lyrics" section. If you take most song articles, they do not discuss the songs actual structure. I think the strength of the article lies there.

Kudos to you all who worked on it.

Fair use rationale for Image:Dapperdans.jpg

Thanks for uploading or contributing to Image:Dapperdans.jpg. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in Wikipedia articles constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use. Suggestions on how to do so can be found here.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the " my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any fair use images uploaded after 4 May, 2006, and lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Rette tast 21:38, 25 June 2007 (UTC)

Fair use disputed for Image:AH Yours to Keep.jpg

Thanks for uploading Image:AH Yours to Keep.jpg. However, there is a concern that the rationale you have provided for using this image under "fair use" may be invalid. Image copyright problem with Image:Arizona State University logo only.png

Thanks for uploading Image:Arizona State University logo only.png. You've indicated that the image is being used under a claim of fair use, but you have not provided an adequate explanation for why it meets Wikipedia's requirements for such images. In particular, for each page the image is used on, the image must have an explanation linking to that page which explains why it needs to be used on that page. Can you please check

  • That there is a non-free use rationale on the image's escription page for each article the image is used in.
  • That every article it is used on is linked to from its description page.

This is an automated notice by FairuseBot. For assistance on the image use policy, see Wikipedia:Media copyright questions. --14:17, 9 May 2008 (UTC)

Disputed fair use rationale for Image:Arizona State University logo only.png}

Thank you for uploading Image:Arizona State University logo only.png. However, there is a concern that the rationale provided for using this image under "fair use" may not meet the criteria required by Wikipedia:Non-free content. This can be corrected by going to the image description page and add or clarify the reason why the image qualifies for fair use. In particular, for each page the image is used on, the image must have an explanation linking to that page which explains why it needs to be used on that page. Can you please check:

  • That there is a non-free use rationale on the image's escription page for each article the image is used in.

Orphaned non-free media (Image:The Simpsons 5F02.png)

Thanks for uploading Image:The Simpsons 5F02.png. The media description page currently specifies that it is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, it is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the media was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that media for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

Note that all non-free media not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. BJBot ( talk) 05:20, 3 December 2008 (UTC)

Image copyright problem with File:U2 Sunday Bloody Sunday.ogg

Thanks for uploading File:U2 Sunday Bloody Sunday.ogg. You've indicated that the image is being used under a claim of fair use, but you have not provided an adequate explanation for why it meets Wikipedia's requirements for such images. In particular, for each page the image is used on, the image must have an explanation linking to that page which explains why it needs to be used on that page. Can you please check

  • That there is a non-free use rationale on the image's description page for each article the image is used in.
  • That every article it is used on is linked to from its description page.

Proposed deletion of List of Carnegie libraries in Alabama

A proposed deletion template has been added to the article List of Carnegie libraries in Alabama, suggesting that it be deleted according to the proposed deletion process because of the following concern:

List of statistics

All contributions are appreciated, but this article may not satisfy Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and the deletion notice should explain why (see also " What Wikipedia is not" and Wikipedia's deletion policy). You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{ dated prod}} notice, but please explain why you disagree with the proposed deletion in your edit summary or on its talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised because, even though removing the deletion notice will prevent deletion through the proposed deletion process, the article may still be deleted if it matches any of the speedy deletion criteria or it can be sent to Articles for Deletion, where it may be deleted if consensus to delete is reached. ASU Images

Thanks for switching the images from .jpg to .svg. How did you do that? By the way you got the campus acres on the info box mixed up on the West and Polytechnic campus with both of them showing Downtown's acres. Fairly new to editing on Wikipedia. Also noticed you were apart of when the images Image:Crowasu.jpg and File:Manzanita.jpg that I got from the State Press as well as File:Kush.JPG from a Flickr user got deleted. What would be the appropriate way to file these images under to prevent deletion?-- Forkemdevils ( talk) 22:51, 21 July 2009 (UTC)

Lo siento.

You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that media for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

Image:U2_One_single.jpg

I have tagged Image:U2_One_single.jpg as {{ no rationale}}, because it does not provide a fair use rationale. If you believe the image to be acceptable for fair use according to Wikipedia policy, please provide a rationale explaining as much, in accordance with the fair use rationale guideline, on the image description page. Please also consider using {{ non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair_use. Thank you. – Dream out loud ( talk) 17:02, 19 November 2007 (UTC)

Thanks for uploading or contributing to Image:Ottumwa High School insignia.png. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is not a suitable explanation or rationale as to why each specific use in Wikipedia constitutes fair use. Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale.

Note that any non-free media lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Zedla 00:40, 4 December 2007 (UTC)

Image:U2_streets_single.jpg

I have tagged Image:U2_streets_single.jpg as {{ orphaned fairuse}}. In order for the image to be kept at Wikipedia, it must be included in at least one article. If this image is being used as a link target instead of displayed inline, please add {{ not orphan}} to the image description page to prevent it being accidentally marked as orphaned again. – Dream out loud ( talk) 02:14, 27 December 2007 (UTC)

Disputed fair use rationale for Image:Arizona State University logo only.png}

  • That every article it is used on is linked to from its description page.

Please be aware that a fair use rationale is not the same as an image copyright tag; descriptions for images used under the fair use policy require both a copyright tag and a fair use rationale.

If it is determined that the image does not qualify under fair use, it might be deleted by adminstrator within a few days in accordance with our criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions, please ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thank you. NOTE: once you correct this, please remove the tag from the image's page.

Hi, I presume you meant to create the above page at User:Mcmillin24/sandbox. Which already exists, or I would do a page move. I suggest you copy and paste the content of Mcmillin24/sandbox to User:Mcmillin24/sandbox and then mark Mcmillin24/sandbox for deletion under CSD G7. Cheers - Kingpin 13 ( talk) 19:09, 24 June 2009 (UTC)

All looks good. Don't mention it :), hope that what ever you're building in that sandbox turns out well - Kingpin 13 ( talk) 19:18, 24 June 2009 (UTC)

In case you hadn't seen it...I left a few notes. Not looking too bad. Cheers, Casliber ( talk · contribs) 03:42, 2 July 2009 (UTC)
