INFORMATION: -mostly- c. 2013. "Archive 1" reflects the first initiated talk page belonging to User sandbox. I'm not clear on the difference between checking/unchecking the signature markup box in user preference. it states, "If unchecked, the contents of the box above will be treated as your nickname and link automatically to your user page. If checked, the above markup will be used for your name when you sign with mazal or mazal 07:30, 21 July 2013 (UTC); including any Wiki markup, links, or other valid formatting that it includes."

ok, so leaving the box UNCHECKED, "Treat the above as wiki markup," and saving said preferences will display my user sig *mazal* as a link back to my user/talk pages with time stamp (four tildes; without time stamp (three tildes).
