I'm not 100% sure if your comment was directed at me or Paul Erik (or possibly both of us), but I do want to point out that I did not bring up TPH's edit-warring, even though I noticed it, because as I said at AN/I, my intention is not to get TPH blocked. I think the more AN/I threads he starts about Hullabaloo while simultaneously edit-warring and making insults elsewhere, the more likely it is that an admin is going to get tired of it and block him, which is why I think it's in his best interest and everybody's just to be a little more diligent with these AfD nominations and stay off HW's talk page. That's not an unreasonable suggestion, is it? 28bytes ( talk) 05:57, 14 January 2011 (UTC)

Article of the month –
List of valkyrie names in Norse mythology
In Norse mythology, a valkyrie is one of a host of female figures who choose which warriors will win or die in battle. The valkyries bring their chosen who have died bravely in battle to the afterlife hall of the slain, Valhalla, ruled over by the god Odin, where the deceased warriors become einherjar. There, when the einherjar are not preparing for the events of Ragnarök, the valkyries bear them mead. Valkyries also appear as lovers of heroes and other mortals, where they are sometimes described as the daughters of royalty, sometimes accompanied by ravens, and sometimes connected to swans. I notice you've
reverted an edit I made,
which is of course just fine. The original addition of "Mr Cool" as nickname was
hereabouts. Is it common knowledge, but just waiting for a reliable reference? I've had
a little look around and can't find anything that conclusively puts 「遠藤保仁」 together with 「ミスター.クール」.

Re [1], thanks, heh, it seems I think so too. But my user page now seems a little narcissistic to me. Not to mention that, with all the enemies I'm making with my AfD work, I should probably remove real-world identifying information. Maybe I'll just leave the two quotes at the top. They are basically about my take on Wikipedia: it really is a hierarchical top-down organization, not some anarchic Wild West -- but with not so much at the top, and with (mostly) rational discussion about what properly constitutes an order, sir. The history of Auftragstaktik suggests that excellence in strict hierarchies is possible. Alas, it also suggests that their weakness is in how they are so often shackled at the top to powers that can become arbitrary, self-deceptive and demagogic. Wikipedia looks like an almost-mathematical existence proof that such shackles aren't necessary. Occasionally I sit back and marvel: how cool is that? Other times, though, I want to check the proof again: maybe a crucial step is wrong? Yakushima ( talk) 12:26, 7 February 2011 (UTC)

Regarding your AN3 report please understand that using rollback for edits that are not vandalism (or one of the other allowed purposes) is not acceptable. I'm not going to take it away from you, because, honestly, you do a lot of good work with it, but another admin might choose to do so. If you would discuss the changes in question rather than to revert them using the vandalism revert tool and template the user with warnings, there is at least a chance that a mutually agreeable decision could be reached. If not, Wikipedia has plenty of dispute resolution processes available and it's not like Libya-related topics are wanting for editors right now. You could start a discussion on the template talk page about the appropriate topics for inclusion and post a neutral notification of it at Talk:Libya and probably get multiple eyeballs on it. But whatever you decide to do, revert warring using rollback isn't a very good option. -- B ( talk) 13:59, 1 March 2011 (UTC)

Is it the position of Wikipedia that non-free articles of live people are not to be used at all? If so, then the primary difference is between a) removing it from articles where they have occured and then speedily deleting it and using non-use as the speedy reason, or b) attempting to delete it (for the fact that it is non-free, can that be done speedy?) and then clearing the articles afterward. The first may be the only way to quickly remove from all of wikipedia these pictures. Personally, using a picture broadcast on Television with deliberate removal of the Television station information seems like copyright infringement. Naraht ( talk) 16:04, 18 May 2011 (UTC)

Hello! You have been invited to take part in the Bacon Challenge 2012. In case you don't know or need a refresher, the Bacon Challenge is an annual celebration of bacon on Wikipedia in which editors come together to help create, expand, and improve Wikipedia's coverage of bacon. The event lasts all the way through National Pig Day 2012, giving participants plenty of time to work at their pleasure. In addition to the Bacon Challenge is the Bacon WikiCup 2012, a side event to the Challenge in which all bacon-related contributions done by those participating in the Challenge are submitted and scored by the scorekeeper (me) based on the scoring chart. At the end of the Challenge, the user with the most points in the Bacon WikiCup will win a shiny trophy for their userpage. In addition, the users who score the highest in specific categories (not yet finalized, but the categories include most image uploads, most article creations, most DYK submissions, and more) will win barnstars. Finally, all participants will receive a medal. While the awards are nice, in the end, the important thing is to have fun and enjoy what we're all here for, which is improving Wikipedia.
If you decide to participate, great! You may add your name to the participants list at the main page of the Bacon Challenge 2012, and pick up the userbox for your userpage if you desire. Signing up for the Challenge will also automatically enter you into the Bacon WikiCup. If you don't wish to participate, that's fine too - maybe next year! In the meantime, if you know anyone who might also be interested in participating, feel free to invite them! The Challenge is open to anyone and accepts participants at any time, so feel free to let anyone who might be interested know.
Note that I, the scorekeeper of the Bacon WikiCup, will be on vacation starting on the 18th of June all the way up until the 5th of July. I will have limited access to the internet, so I may or may not be able to score users' contributions during this time. Sorry for any delay in scoring (but since the Challenge lasts for more than half a year, there's no rush, right? (= ).
I'm looking forward to another fun, successful year. Thanks! ~ Super Hamster Talk Contribs 00:47, 18 June 2011 (UTC)

A while back, I posted a new proposal for Tibetan naming conventions, i.e. conventions that can be used to determine the most appropriate titles for articles related to the Tibetan region. This came out of discussions about article titles on Talk:Qamdo and Talk:Lhoka (Shannan) Prefecture. I hope that discussions on the proposal's talk page will lead to consensus in favour of making these conventions official, but so far only a few editors have left comments. Re this edit summary. This is a common response, so common in fact that I added it to WP:10CR in the section "Just fix it yourself instead of causing so much disruption". WP:10CR was referenced in the edit summary I left, which I presume you read since you did add a rationale to the image description page. I'm happy to see you did this. You're a person who cares about the article the image was used on, I assume, since you saw the image was removed. You're far better equipped to add an appropriate rationale for the image's use on that article. However, when you added the rationale to the image, you did not follow the instruction on {{ logo fur}} where it says via an inline comment, "<!--Must be specified if Use is not Infobox / Org / Brand / Product-->". The rationale should be corrected to indicate the intended use and purpose of the image's existence on that article. All the best, -- Hammersoft ( talk) 17:18, 6 July 2011 (UTC)

Kintetsubuffalo:
Many salutations!! After looking over the portfolio of your past handiwork, I cannot help but to surmise that you have an aversion for the word »unfortunately« as you have recently demonstrated here; while I am not of the perspective that there is any malice at play, I do wish to point out that this aversion of yours changes up the whole idea of the affected episode synopses into something that is rather clumsy. I look forward to hearing your perspective of this matter.

Valkyries also appear as lovers of heroes and other mortals, where they are sometimes described as the daughters of royalty, sometimes accompanied by ravens, and sometimes connected to swans. which is of course just fine. The original addition of "Mr Cool" as nickname was
hereabouts. Is it common knowledge, but just waiting for a reliable reference? I've had

Hi there Chris, long time no chat! I came across Camp blanket while doing some new page patrolling, and I wondered whether you might have a moment to improve the article? Maybe you have some context or info that you can add, or know someone who can supply a photo of a camp blanket with some patches? -- Slashme ( talk) 07:20, 22 August 2011 (UTC)

Kintetsubufflo, I hope to contribute more on Scouting in Japan but not sure how all this works and my writing skills are not the best! I do have access to many documents that correct or confirm many facts concerning early Scouting in Japan that I'm happy to use to contribute. I've noticed many of the Japanese articles also need clarification or correction and I'll try my hand there too. Please advise! -- Yokohama1 ( talk) 02:13, 29 September 2011 (UTC)
I would be happy to start something on the IBS as time allows. Will try to put something together and contribute in the near future. Yokohama1 ( talk) 01:57, 11 October 2011 (UTC)
Please do not move articles in the middle of a merge discussion. It is much better to talk about the move on the merge discussion so it can be moved once the merge is determined, or not. Otherwise confusion can arise. In this case, the article was deleted, as was the redirect you left. However, the earlier redirect was not and would have remained if I had not known the history of it. In this case too, you new name, Scouts Australia award scheme was incorrect as it implies that it is about all award schemes of the organisation, Scouts Australia. It was actually only about the award scheme of the Scout section of that organisation. Cheers, -- Bduke (Discussion) 21:06, 19 October 2011 (UTC)

Restored per your request. Please note that I've added a new {{ nrd}} tag to it, so you'll need to deal with it in the next week. Nyttend ( talk) 04:48, 27 December 2011 (UTC)
