A note on writing about yourself

If you're interested in helping with the article about yourself, you should probably read the conflict of interest guidelines and WP:AUTOBIOGRAPHY. While we appreciate the help, Wikipedia discourages people from writing about themselves- for approximately the same reasons that players don't write the articles about themselves in newspapers and magazines. I hope you decide to stay; Wikipedia can always use volunteers with knowledge about football, and there are lots of articles on the subject that can use improvement. You might be interested in Wikipedia:WikiProject American football, which is a group of people focused in that group of articles. - FisherQueen ( talk · contribs) 00:11, 21 December 2011 (UTC) reply

Possible COI

Information icon Hello, Jyazumah. We welcome your contributions, but if you have an external relationship with the people, places or things you have written about in the article Jerry Azumah, you may have a conflict of interest (COI). Editors with a COI may be unduly influenced by their connection to the topic. See the conflict of interest guideline and FAQ for organizations for more information. In particular, please:

  • avoid editing or creating articles related to you and your circle, your organization, its competitors, projects or products;
  • instead propose changes on the talk pages of affected articles (see the {{ request edit}} template);
  • when discussing affected articles, disclose your COI (see WP:DISCLOSE);
  • avoid linking to the Wikipedia article or website of your organization in other articles (see WP:SPAM);
  • exercise great caution so that you do not violate Wikipedia's content policies.

In addition, you must disclose your employer, client, and affiliation with respect to any contribution for which you receive, or expect to receive, compensation (see WP:PAID).

Please familiarize yourself with relevant policies and guidelines, especially those pertaining to neutral point of view, sourcing and autobiographies. Thank you. -- Marchjuly ( talk) 20:57, 3 March 2016 (UTC) reply

Hi Jyazumah. Your username is quite similar to the name of Jerry Azumah. Relevant Wikipedia username policy does allow users to use their real names as their usernames, but there can be some drawbacks to doing so. Also, Wikipedia does not allow users to impersonate (even accidentally) another person, and may require some sort of verification in cases where a username (even a real name) is similar to the name of a specific, identifiable person. You do not need to verify your identity here, but I am going to ask an administrator to take a look and they may require verification or ask you to change your username. Another possible problem with your username is that it gives the impression that you have a conflict of interest with article "Jerry Azumah". Although COI editing is not prohibited per se, it can be tricky for an editor to maintain a WP:NPOV and comply with Wikipedia's various policies and guidelines when they edit articles about subjects they are connected to, especially when they are single purpose accounts which focus on a particular article or genre of articles. Even an WP:APPARENTCOI can be problematic and cause other editors to more carefully scrutinize the edits being made. So, if you are somehow connected to Jerry Azumah, then I suggest you read Wikipedia:Plain and simple conflict of interest guide and familiarize yourself with the types of edits COI editors are generally considered OK to make. -- 21:39, 3 March 2016 (UTC)

Copying Content From Other Websites

I've noticed your addition to the Jerry Azumah article very closely resembles content from Azmuah's bio from the old Chicago Bears website. Text copied from a book, magazine, newspaper or another website without the permission of the copyright holder. Many sources, including websites found on the Internet, are copyrighted. I am afraid Wikipedia cannot accept any things copied from these sources as it can get Wikipedia into serious legal trouble. The article or changes have been or will soon be deleted. Next time, please look up sources to find out information for articles and explain it in your own words, and do not copy sentences or images from them. Thank you. --  StarScream1007   ►Talk  16:14, 1 February 2024 (UTC) reply
