Feature requests

Hi, working with the JWB, I encounter these feature suggestions:

  • Allow opting to open a page with "Preview". Today, the default opening is "Diff" always. For example, when Preview shows error messages, it is nice and useful to see those first.
  • Add option: switch off all set edits (regex etc.), to start from an unedited page. This is useful for situation where the regex changes do are not desired. Today, I should break all these settings manually to stop them from executing. In practice: when I encounter such a page which gets undesired preset edits, I would "stop" JWB, mark "disallow all edits", and restart to edit the unchanged source code.
  • Incidental editsummary change: when I use JWB, I enter a general editsummary of course. Now per page, a more specific es could be useful. It would be nice if I can add extra text to the current es before saving, that extra text be removed for the next page, so the general text will be the es. ( WP:AWB has this).

  • Hi, here's one from me. I often use JWB to perform null edits, e.g. to propagate a revised template. Please could you add a feature for JWB to run through the list performing null edits without us having to click "Save" on every page? Or, perhaps safer, to run through (say) up to 50 at a time, before requiring user confirmation again? – Fayenatic London 21:47, 31 January 2018 (UTC) reply
@ DePiep: @ Fayenatic london: Those all sound like very nice suggestions. At the moment I'm a bit busy though, so I can't have a look at it for the next while. Perhaps I can find a weekend to work on it, but otherwise it may take a lot longer. I do like these suggestions a lot though, so I'll try to implement them whenever I get time to work on this again. Thanks for the suggestions (and do keep them coming!) Joeytje50 ( talk) 08:46, 29 March 2018 (UTC) reply
