Human development

Greetings!
Thanks for your contributions to Iowa State University's campus & buildings. One of your recent edits included a link to human development, a disambiguation page. The use of these links is discouraged on Wikipedia as they are unhelpful to readers. In the future, please check your links to make sure they point to articles. Thanks!

Hello Jaretac. I noticed you reversed one of the edits I placed on the article with the above name. It's not a big concern to me, but I wanted to let you know why I put the change in. The change I am referring to is the reference to "IT" in the "occupied by" column in the first row of the "Current Buildings" table. The reason I changed it to link to "Information Technology" rather than the "IT" disambigutation page is because I was helping clean up some of the Wikipedia:Disambiguation pages with links. Per the Manual of Style for Disambigiuation Pages, articles should not normally link to disambiguation pages. Since I believe the context of the word "IT", as used in the above article, refers to Information Technology, I thought it was more appropriate to link to the "Information Technology" article, rather than the "IT" disambiguation page, or possibly no link is necessary in this particular case. I hope you find this feedback helpful. MissionInn.Jim ( talk) 18:46, 28 June 2009 (UTC) reply

Big 12 WikiProject

Hi, I've noticed you've been involved in editing Big 12 related articles. I'm trying to gauge the interested in created a Big 12 WikiProject and wondered if you'd like to be involved. There are already pages for WikiProject Big Ten and WikiProject ACC. A Big 12 project would cover the schools themselves and anything to do with conference sports including: events, rivalries, teams, seasons, championships and lore. There is already quite a bit of activity here on Wikipedia regarding the Big 12, and I think a project could help coordinate and unify are efforts. Please see Wikipedia:WikiProject Council/Proposals/Big 12, if you are interested and add your name to the list. Grey Wanderer ( talk) 23:43, 25 November 2009 (UTC) reply

Notification: changes to "Mark my edits as minor by default" preference

Hello there. This is an automated message to tell you about the gradual phasing out of the preference entitled "Mark all edits minor by default", which you currently have (or very recently had) enabled.

On 13 March 2011, this preference was hidden from the user preferences screen as part of efforts to prevent its accidental misuse ( consensus discussion). This had the effect of locking users in to their existing preference, which, in your case, was true. To complete the process, your preference will automatically be changed to false in the next few days. This does not require any intervention on your part and you will still be able to manually mark your edits as being minor in the usual way.

For established users such as yourself there is a workaround available involving custom JavaScript. With the script in place, you can continue with this functionality indefinitely (its use is governed by WP:MINOR). If you have any problems, feel free to drop me a note.

Thank you for your understanding and happy editing :) Editing on behalf of User:Jarry1250, LivingBot ( talk) 18:45, 15 March 2011 (UTC) reply

Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page.
