Terra Ignota

I've created Terra Ignota (series) to cover the entire set of four books, as I didn't think it proper to repeat the worldbuilding and setting information in each book. There might be an argument to split off individual novel pages from a single page about the series as a whole if it gets too long, but I don't think that argument will carry much weight until the fourth book is out. I'm sorry to step on your toes, but you've not edited the page in a week, so I assume that means you're not able to at the moment. I welcome your help in writing the page. Google Code-In 2019 is coming - please mentor some documentation tasks!

Hello,

Google Code-In, Google-organized contest in which the Wikimedia Foundation participates, starts in a few weeks. This contest is about taking high school students into the world of opensource. I'm sending you this message because you recently edited a documentation page at the English Wikipedia.

I would like to ask you to take part in Google Code-In as a mentor. That would mean to prepare at least one task (it can be documentation related, or something else - the other categories are Code, Design, Quality Assurance and Outreach) for the participants, and help the student to complete it. Please sign up at the contest page and send us your Google account address to google-code-in-admins@lists.wikimedia.org, so we can invite you in!

From my own experience, Google Code-In can be fun, you can make several new friends, attract new people to your wiki and make them part of your community.

If you have any questions, please let us know at google-code-in-admins@lists.wikimedia.org.

Thank you!

Notice

The article The Mayor of Garret has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

Unsourced plot-only article, and does not appear to be notable.

While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, pages may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the page to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. MoonyTheDwarf (Braden N.) Straight vs curly apostrophes in Wet'suwet'en / Wet’suwet’en

Thank you for your edits at Delgamuukw v British Columbia. I'll also be continuing to help improve the article and other related articles, so I was wondering about your decision to switch the straight apostrophes to curly apostrophes. Is this a significant distinction that warrants deviating from MOS:'? Sancho 21:25, 8 March 2020 (UTC) reply

Hey there! The apostrophes indicate (erroneously in the first case, but it is the accepted spelling) that the t's are actually Ejective consonants (ie [tʼ]) which are represented with curly apostrophes in the IPA and writing systems that use them, such as that of the Babine-Witsuwitʼen language. I admit I had overlooked that section of MOS, and I wonder if there might be a discussion somewhere regarding ejective consonants and the use of curly apostrophes... In fact, I've just noticed that even in the first line of that page there is inconsistency! James Hyett ( talk) 15:21, 9 March 2020 (UTC) reply
