Please don't force image sizing.

I enjoy seeing the Audubon images that you haver added to Wikipedia but you should not force the image size (i.e., ###px). Have a look here for the reasons why. Cheers. Dger ( talk) 20:45, 7 August 2013 (UTC) reply

File permission problem with File:King Letsie III 42nd birthday.png

Thanks for uploading File:King Letsie III 42nd birthday.png. I noticed that while you provided a valid copyright licensing tag, there is no proof that the creator of the file has agreed to release it under the given license.

If you are the copyright holder for this media entirely yourself but have previously published it elsewhere (especially online), please either

  • make a note permitting reuse under the CC-BY-SA or another acceptable free license (see this list) at the site of the original publication; or
  • Send an email from an address associated with the original publication to permissions-en@wikimedia.org, stating your ownership of the material and your intention to publish it under a free license. You can find a sample permission letter here. If you take this step, add {{ OTRS pending}} to the file description page to prevent premature deletion.

If you did not create it entirely yourself, please ask the person who created the file to take one of the two steps listed above, or if the owner of the file has already given their permission to you via email, please forward that email to permissions-en@wikimedia.org.

If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Non-free content, use a tag such as {{ non-free fair use}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:File copyright tags#Fair use, and add a rationale justifying the file's use on the article or articles where it is included. See Wikipedia:File copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have provided evidence that their copyright owners have agreed to license their works under the tags you supplied, too. You can find a list of files you have created in your upload log. Files lacking evidence of permission may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. You may wish to read the Wikipedia's image use policy. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Stefan2 ( talk) 16:33, 30 January 2014 (UTC) reply

Non-free rationale for File:King Letsie III 42nd birthday.png

Thanks for uploading or contributing to File:King Letsie III 42nd birthday.png. I notice the file page specifies that the file is being used under non-free content criteria, but there is not a suitable explanation or rationale as to why each specific use in Wikipedia is acceptable. Please go to the file description page, and edit it to include a non-free rationale.

If you have uploaded other non-free media, consider checking that you have specified the non-free rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'file' pages you have edited by clicking on the " my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "File" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free media lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If the file is already gone, you can still make a request for undeletion and ask for a chance to fix the problem. If you have any questions, please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Stefan2 ( talk) 13:40, 8 February 2014 (UTC) reply

License tagging for File:Crest of the Reformed Church in Amercia.jpg

Thanks for uploading File:Crest of the Reformed Church in Amercia.jpg. You don't seem to have indicated the license status of the image. Wikipedia uses a set of image copyright tags to indicate this information.

To add a tag to the image, select the appropriate tag from this list, click on this link, then click "Edit this page" and add the tag to the image's description. If there doesn't seem to be a suitable tag, the image is probably not appropriate for use on Wikipedia. For help in choosing the correct tag, or for any other questions, leave a message on Wikipedia:Media copyright questions. US navy versions of Anthems

Would be best not to spam bad American version of anthems all over. This has been discussed before and many people take great offence to having a bad American version of anthems all over. Would be best to find local approved version. See Template talk:Infobox country#RFC: Audio links to national anthems -- Moxy ( talk) 02:50, 8 July 2014 (UTC) reply

Perhaps I should explain in more detail - Lets talk about Royal Anthems be it a link or audio file as many articles have talked about this before in great detail (for example see Talk:Australia/Archive 17#Request For Comment). Would be best to talk about it first because its a contentious edit to many (as are many non-native versions of anthems). There is no restrictions on a link or a file nor are they required in an articles infobox. So what this means is concusses should be reached at each article as per WP:INFOBOXUSE over mass change to multiple articles. I hope this explains things better because your good faith edits are welcomed. -- Moxy ( talk) 00:38, 9 July 2014 (UTC) reply

Hi there. I haven't bothered to inspect your recent edits to this page, but I would like to offer a word of caution. Since you were asked to discuss before making many/major edits, and this article is in the middle of a contentious RM discussion with people getting irritated (with you at the center of it all), it might be a good idea to self-revert your recent changes, back off from this article for now, and open up a discussion of what you'd like to change. Otherwise you might find yourself running afoul of some obscure rule that could be used to "nab" you and get you blocked for disruption. Obviously you can feel free to ignore me, and I have no idea who's senior between the two of us, but please at least consider the advice. (And thank you for the barnstar!) Disputed non-free use rationale for File:Ratification Convention of New York, in Poughkeepsie.jpg

Thank you for uploading File:Ratification Convention of New York, in Poughkeepsie.jpg. However, there is a concern that the rationale provided for using this file on Wikipedia may not meet the criteria required by Wikipedia:Non-free content. This can be corrected by going to the file description page and adding or clarifying the reason why the file qualifies under this policy. Adding and completing one of the templates available from Wikipedia:Non-free use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your file is in compliance with Wikipedia policy. Please be aware that a non-free use rationale is not the same as an image copyright tag; descriptions for files used under the non-free content policy require both a copyright tag and a non-free use rationale.

If it is determined that the file does not qualify under the non-free content policy, it might be deleted by an administrator seven days after the file was tagged in accordance with section F7 of the criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions, please ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thank you.

The file File:JFK at Fordham Law luncheon February 15, 1958.jpg has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

Decorative non-free use in Fordham University#1951–2000: Clerical independence which fails both WP:NFCC#1 ( WP:FREER) and WP:NFCC#8 ( WP:NFC#CS). The reader can more than sufficiently understand that JFK received an honorary degree from the university from the relevant article content and sources cited in support; in other words, the reader doesn't need see this particular image for that to be understood. Moreover, the receiving of the honorary degree in an of itself might be considered an "historical event", but that doesn't mean that this photo is an historic image per WP:ITSHISTORIC. If there isn't already, relevant text content about the event itself could be added to the article and the citation used for the caption could be moved to the body of the article in support. The only real justification for the non-free use of a photo such as this would be if the photo itself was the subject of sourced critical commentary.

While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, pages may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated files}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the file's talk page.

Please consider addressing the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated files}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. 2019 US Banknote Contest

US Banknote Contest
November-December 2019

There are an estimated 30,000 different varieties of United States banknotes, yet only a fraction of these are represented on Wikimedia Commons in the form of 2D scans. Additionally, Colonial America, the Confederate States, the Republic of Texas, multiple states and territories, communities, and private companies have issued banknotes that are in the public domain today but are absent from Commons.

In the months of November and December, WikiProject Numismatics will be running a cross-wiki upload-a-thon, the 2019 US Banknote Contest. The goal of the contest is to increase the number of US banknote images available to content creators on all Wikimedia projects. Participants will claim points for uploading and importing 2D scans of US banknotes, and at the end of the contest all will receive awards. Whether you want to claim the Gold Wiki or you just want to have fun, all are invited to participate.

If you do not want to receive invitations to future US Banknote Contests, follow the instructions here

Your signature and linter errors

Just a reminder that your signature contains obsolete font tags. The purpose of this message is because Linter errors affect the way the page looks, and with a lot of errors, the page may render badly. To reduce Linter errors, please change your signature.

If the software doesn't accept my replacement signature, let me know, and if that's the case, unfortunately you may have to change it to something else. Sheep ( talk) 15:48, 3 October 2022 (UTC) reply

19FortyFive moved to draftspace

An article you recently created, 19FortyFive, is not suitable as written to remain published. It needs more citations from reliable, independent sources. ( ?) Information that can't be referenced should be removed ( verifiability is of central importance on Wikipedia). I've moved your draft to draftspace (with a prefix of "Draft:" before the article title) where you can incubate the article with minimal disruption. When you feel the article meets Wikipedia's general notability guideline and thus is ready for mainspace, please click on the "Submit your draft for review!" button at the top of the page. Albert L. Ireland Awards

I see you've done a lot of work on Albert L. Ireland's article. Of course he is known for the multiple purple hearts, however, do you happen to have more information on his other awards? The one source says 2 Individual citations and 8 battle stars (specifically these are mentioned as being in addition to the Purple Heats and a Bronze Star). The article currently shows only 3 battle stars and nothing that would seem to be the mentioned "individual citations". Presumably one would be the Good Conduct Medal, but what else? Do you have any sources of info? Gecko G ( talk) 05:20, 27 February 2023 (UTC) reply

I added more info about the Bronze Star from Korea. As for the other distinctions, I don't have an answer for you yet. I will continue to look through different sources. Indefatigable2 talk 05:06, 1 March 2023 (UTC) reply

Replaceable non-free use File:Joseph D. McBride.jpg

Thanks for uploading File:Joseph D. McBride.jpg. I noticed that this file is being used under a claim of non-free use. However, I think that the way it is being used fails the first non-free content criterion. This criterion states that files used under claims of non-free use may have no free equivalent; in other words, if the file could be adequately covered by a freely-licensed file or by text alone, then it may not be used on Wikipedia. If you believe this file is not replaceable, please:

  1. Go to the file description page and add the text {{ Di-replaceable non-free use disputed|<your reason>}} below the original replaceable non-free use template, replacing <your reason> with a short explanation of why the file is not replaceable.
  2. On the file discussion page, write a full explanation of why you believe the file is not replaceable.

Alternatively, you can also choose to replace this non-free media item by finding freely licensed media of the same subject, requesting that the copyright holder release this (or similar) media under a free license, or by creating new media yourself (for example, by taking your own photograph of the subject).

If you have uploaded other non-free media, consider checking that you have specified how these media fully satisfy our non-free content criteria. You can find a list of description pages you have edited by clicking on this link. Note that even if you follow steps 1 and 2 above, non-free media which could be replaced by freely licensed alternatives will be deleted 2 days after this notification, per the non-free content policy. If you have any questions, please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. -- Marchjuly ( talk) 07:10, 17 August 2023 (UTC) reply

The reader doesn't need to see a non-free screenshot to understand that Trump's 2000 presidential campaign had an official website. Moreover, the screenshot itself isn't the subject of any sourced critical commentary in the relevant section so the reader not seeing will not lead to any real loss in the encyclopedic understanding of the few senteces about the website in the section.

In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and files for discussion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. -- Marchjuly ( talk) 07:19, 17 August 2023 (UTC) reply

File permission problem with File:Joseph D. McBride (attorney).jpeg

Thanks for uploading File:Joseph D. McBride (attorney).jpeg.

If you take this step, add {{ permission pending}} to the file description page to prevent premature deletion.

Here is a list of your uploads. Files lacking evidence of permission may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described in section F11 of the criteria for speedy deletion. You may wish to read Wikipedia's image use policy. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. — Ирука 13 10:45, 23 September 2023 (UTC) reply

To add a tag to the image, select the appropriate tag from this list, click on this link, then click "Edit this page" and add the tag to the image's description. If there doesn't seem to be a suitable tag, the image is probably not appropriate for use on Wikipedia.

(And thank you for the barnstar!) Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. Wikipedia appreciates your help. We noticed though that when you edited Michael Kovats, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Hungarian. Such links are almost always unintended, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of "Did you mean..." article titles. Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.

Disputed non-free use rationale for File:Ratification Convention of New York, in Poughkeepsie.jpg

They create Linter errors, and it is advised that you change your signature to '''''[[User:Indefatigable2|<span style="color:blue;">Indefatigable2</span>]]'''''[[User talk:Indefatigable2|'''''<small> talk</small>''''']] ASAP.

The purpose of this message is because Linter errors affect the way the page looks, and with a lot of errors, the page may render badly. To reduce Linter errors, please change your signature.

If you have more specifics on units and dates, his unit awards could at least be derived from NAVMC 2922, and it might help figure out which 8 battle stars. Gecko G ( talk) 18:39, 1 March 2023 (UTC) reply
oh dear, I just noticed that the ribbon device template never got updated to handle the sea service device layouts. If we have to use span that would be beyond my wikiskill to add. Gecko G ( talk) 19:09, 1 March 2023 (UTC) reply

Your draft article, Draft:19FortyFive

Hello, Indefatigable2. It has been over six months since you last edited the Articles for Creation submission or Draft page you started, " 19FortyFive".

Notice

The file File:Screenshot of www.DonaldJTrump2000.com in November 1999.jpg has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

Non-free wesbite screenshot being used in a WP:DECORATIVE manner in Donald Trump 2000 presidential campaign#November 1999 which fails WP:NFCC#1 ( WP:FREER) and WP:NFCC#8 ( WP:NFC#CS).

If you take this step, add {{ permission pending}} to the file description page to prevent premature deletion.
