A tag has been placed on Smokebomb Entertainment, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G11 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the page seems to be unambiguous advertising which only promotes a company, product, group, service or person and would need to be fundamentally rewritten in order to become an encyclopedia article. Please read the guidelines on spam and Wikipedia:FAQ/Business for more information.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, contest the deletion by clicking on the button labelled "Click here to contest this speedy deletion," which appears inside of the speedy deletion ({{db-...}}) tag (if no such tag exists, the page is no longer a speedy delete candidate). Doing so will take you to the talk page where you will find a pre-formatted place for you to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. You can also visit the the page's talk page directly to give your reasons, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the page meets the criterion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the page that would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. April 2011

Hello Shaftesbury Films. If you are affiliated with some of the people, places or things you have written about in the article Smokebomb Entertainment, you may have a conflict of interest. In keeping with Wikipedia's neutral point of view policy, edits where there is a conflict of interest, or where such a conflict might reasonably be inferred, are strongly discouraged. If you have a conflict of interest, you should avoid or exercise great caution when:

  1. editing or creating articles related to you, your organization, or its competitors, as well as projects and products they are involved with;
  2. participating in deletion discussions about articles related to your organization or its competitors; and
  3. linking to the Wikipedia article or website of your organization in other articles (see Wikipedia:Spam).

Please familiarize yourself with relevant policies and guidelines, especially those pertaining to neutral point of view, verifiability of information, and autobiographies.

For information on how to contribute to Wikipedia when you have a conflict of interest, please see our frequently asked questions for organizations. Thank you. Eeekster ( talk) 20:43, 25 April 2011 (UTC) reply

Please do not remove speedy deletion notices from pages you have created yourself, as you did with Smokebomb Entertainment. If you do not believe the page should be deleted, then you may contest the deletion by clicking on the button that looks like this: which appears inside of the speedy deletion notice, which will allow you to make your case on the article's talk page. Administrators will look at your reasoning before deciding what to do with the article. Thank you. Eeekster ( talk) 20:58, 25 April 2011 (UTC) reply

Your account has been blocked indefinitely from editing Wikipedia because it appears to be mainly intended or used for publicity and/or promotional purposes. Please read the following carefully.

Why can't I edit Wikipedia?

Your account's edits and/or username indicate that it is being used on behalf of a company, group, celebrity or other well-known individual, or organization for purposes of promotion and/or publicity. The edits may have violated one or more of our rules on spamming, which include: adding inappropriate external links, posting advertisements, and using Wikipedia for promotion. Wikipedia has many articles on companies, groups, and organizations, but such groups are generally discouraged from using Wikipedia to write about themselves. In addition, usernames like yours are disallowed under our username policy.

Am I allowed to make these edits if I change my username?

Probably not. See WP:FAQ/Organizations for a helpful list of frequently asked questions by people in your position. Also, review the conflict of interest guidance to see the kinds of limitations you would have to obey if you did want to continue editing about your company, group, or organization. If this does not fit in with your goals, then you will not be allowed to edit again. Consider using one of the many websites that allow this instead.

What can I do now?

You are still welcome to write about something other than your company or organization. If you do intend to make useful contributions on some other topic, you must convince a Wikipedia administrator that you mean it. To that end, please do the following:

  • Add the text {{ unblock-spamun|Your proposed new username|Your reason here}} on your user talk page.
  • Replace the text "Your proposed new username" with a new username you are willing to use. See Special:Listusers to search for available usernames. Your new username will need to meet our username policy.
  • Replace the text "Your reason here" with your reason to be unblocked. In this reason, you must:
  • Convince us that you understand the reason for your block and that you will not repeat the edits for which you were blocked.
  • Describe in general terms the contributions that you intend to make if you are unblocked.
If you believe this block was made in error, please see how to appeal a block.

I disagree with the reasons for this unblock decline. You stated that they were unaware of the concept of conflict of interest; however, the user specifically stated that they would not rely on self-published materials to verify the information. The user also stated that they would work to remain as neutral as they could. Suggestions were made on the talk page that all of this user's pages start as userspace drafts. You also pointed out that the user desired to create the articles because other things exist, I don't believe you understood the full context of the user's remarks. They intended more to say that the articles about Shaftesbury Films would be written in a similar style and neutrality to those of Pinewood Studios. I do agree with the procedural decline part because the questions asked by BWilkins were not answered; however, I believe the user should be unblocked as soon as the questions are answered. I appreciate Ryan Vesey’s observations as I think he understands my intentions, and I would like to contest my user block again, and ask to have my user name changed to Gbarrington. To begin, I will address Bwilkins’ questions.

1. I understand Wikipedia is not a business directory. I do not intend to list any future projects for Shaftesbury Films, or conduct business affairs, as Wikipedia is not a means for promotion. Nor do I want to indicate any business plans or future projects; this information belongs on our company website and not on Wikipedia. I merely want to create a cohesive history of Shaftesbury’s television content contributions. A brief production history would be useful for Wikipedia readers and fans alike. I also understand that by stating that I want to create an article similar to an article that already exists (Pinewood Studios), that this is not a legitimate way to suggest that Shaftesbury’s article should exist. However, this was not the point I was hoping to make. I was merely trying to give an example of another similar neutral article that is in accordance with Wikipedia’s guidelines, which I would like to learn from.

2. I understand what it means to be in conflict of interest, and I assure you that I do not intend on writing to promote our company’s opinions or assets. As previously stated, I was not aware that one must remain in neutral point of view when making edits. I realize my mistake as I am a newcomer to Wikipedia, and my goal is to make edits that do not rely on self-published materials. It is very important that any changes I make are verifiable by third-party sources.

3. Shaftesbury is notable for these reasons: Shaftesbury’s contributions have had significant coverage by many reliable sources such as The Globe and Mail, The Toronto Star, Playback magazine, and Canadian network websites such as CTV. These should be deemed reliable sources, as their articles do not stem from original research. Most recently, Entertainment Weekly featured a segment on Shaftesbury’s newest production From Spain With Love. As an example, please see http://playbackonline.ca/2010/12/22/decade-in-review-christina-jennings-is-playbacks-producer-of-the-decade/ I apologize for any edit mistakes I have made in the past and if allowed, would be happy to begin making minor edits to my userspace if that is what is necessary to prove my worth as an editor.
