When is a Wikipedia project a WikiProject?

The term "WikiProject" is used for projects created for the purpose of managing a specific family of information within Wikipedia. For example, Wikipedia:WikiProject Economics organises articles related to Economics, including economic terms, theories, and economists.

A WikiProject is a resource to help coordinate and organize article writing. Its attached talk page is a convenient forum for those interested in a particular project. WikiProjects can also have associated Portals.

Some projects, like the Tip of the day project, coordinate internal Wikipedia processes rather than article content directly (though not all of these use the term "WikiProject").

List of major wildfires in 2008 moved to draftspace

An article you recently created, List of major wildfires in 2008, does not have enough sources and citations as written to remain published. It needs more citations from reliable, independent sources. ( ?) Information that can't be referenced should be removed ( verifiability is of central importance on Wikipedia). I've moved your draft to draftspace (with a prefix of "Draft:" before the article title) where you can incubate the article with minimal disruption. When you feel the article meets Wikipedia's general notability guideline and thus is ready for mainspace, please click on the "Submit your draft for review!" button at the top of the page. Geoffrey Cardozo

Is this article a machine translation of an es.wiki article? W C M email 00:06, 2 December 2020 (UTC) reply

@ Wee Curry Monster: Hi, there's no article on esWiki. I wrote it myself. Flipwared ( talk) 00:08, 2 December 2020 (UTC) reply
Sadly, whilst you may have sourced this to some Argentine sources, much of what you have written simply isn't true. Brook Hardcastle wasn't a farm manager at the time, he had become a manager for FIC. The land for the Argentine cemetery was donated by the FIC for the purposes of interring the Argentine dead. It was actually the chairman of the FIC (a catholic) who donated it, simply because he couldn't bear the thought of those poor souls rotting in battlefield graces whilst the Argentine government postured. The Argentine cemetery isn't anywhere near the Darwin cemetery, where only islanders are buried. The Argentine cemetery is at a place called Fish Creek. The Kirchner's did nothing toward identifying the Argentine dead, they made a lot of fuss in the press but never actually spoke to the British government. The DNA identification only occurred because of Macri's government who engaged with HMG. Roger Waters was credited but in fact had nothing to do with it. I'm sorry, I'm sure this was a genuine attempt but there is so much BS circulated in the Argentine press that your article is fatally flawed. W C M email 00:20, 2 December 2020 (UTC) reply
@ Wee Curry Monster: Well, I've read all the sources cited and wrote the article according to that. The Brook Hardcastle mention was taken from here and it seems to have been said by Cardozo himself (it's a written interview, so its hard to actually prove he said that name). It might however be speculation of journalist Gabriela Cociffi. Then I read on the NYT reference that the land was donated by a farmer. I apologize for the Darwin Cemetery confusion. About the Kirchner involvement, I didn't intent to say that she accomplished anything, it was just a mention to give some context on why Roger Waters was given an award also given to Cardozo. I didn't write anything more about the identification process itself as this article is about Cardozo and the Cemetery already has its own article. Feel free to improve it with every knowledge you might have, I will appreciate it! Thanks. Flipwared ( talk) 00:29, 2 December 2020 (UTC) reply
I am happy to correct your article, I felt I should reach out first so you don't take it the wrong way when I do. I don't mean to offend but my experience of Argentine editors has not always been positive, usually when I offer help and advise it is rejected out of hand simply because I was born in the UK. Regards, W C M email 00:38, 2 December 2020 (UTC) reply
@ Wee Curry Monster: Please, none taken. I actually tried to use as many international sources to avoid any Argentine or UK bias on the conflict. Still, it's not always easy. Thanks again, feel free to reach out whenever you want. Flipwared ( talk) 00:41, 2 December 2020 (UTC) reply

Hello, Flipwared. It has been over six months since you last edited the Articles for Creation submission or Draft page you started, " List of major wildfires in 2008".

In accordance with our policy that Wikipedia is not for the indefinite hosting of material deemed unsuitable for the encyclopedia mainspace, the draft has been nominated for deletion. If you plan on working on it further, or editing it to address the issues raised if it was declined, simply edit the submission and remove the {{db-afc}}, {{db-draft}}, or {{db-g13}} code.

If your submission has already been deleted by the time you get there, and you wish to retrieve it, you can request its undeletion by following the instructions at this link. An administrator will, in most cases, restore the submission so you can continue to work on it.
