I don't know any such duke; I doubt however his name is correct. It seems like the article is vanity/fake however as it states: "Not mentioned by any medieval source, he first appears in one of the many fake (and much later) genealogies". Also, it states that he was founder of Lithuania, while in fact Mindaugas was. Also, it links to the Eldership of Samogitia, but afak the Eldership was established only later. Also, I don't know most of dukes it links to as to his family members. Maybe someone been too keen on it if he/she added articles based on "fake geneologies"? Because all nams for cities used were previously Belarusian, and same for names for many dukes (still however, that letter does not exist in Belarusian either I believe), maybe it is some kind of Belarusian mythology or such, I don't know DeirYassin 08:10, 23 August 2005 (UTC)
I guess Živinbudas, Gimbutas are other dukes; as their names you gave are also Slavic and they are quite different from the Slavic name for this duke; I might be wrong though. - It's not Polish at all. Only the references on the left are in Polish (at times in 16th century Polish and at times in almost classical 19th century - depends on whether the author quotes some source texts or simply notes his own remarks), while the central part seems like a perfect example of Old Ruthenian. Fortunately it's almost fully comprehensible for someone who speaks both Polish and Russian. I could give it a try and read it, but I'm afraid I won't have time to translate all of the text - it's simply too long.
- In short, it's a genealogy. It relates the fate of several Roman nobles who first settled in Venice because of Attila, then sailed around France and Germany, stayed for a short time in Denmark and finally arrived toi the Nieman river, where they settled. Their leader, prince Palemon, had three sons: Bork, Kunos and Śpera or Spera. Kunos (since, I guess, you are interested in him the most) was the middle son and settled in the estuary of Niewiaż to Nieman, where he founded a town named after him (either Kunos or Kunosow). Both of his brothers died heirlessly and Kunos inherited their domains (called Żmodz in the text), with the town of Jurborg. He had two sons: Kiernus and Gimbut. So, the latter might be our Kgwinðbunt. Let me know should you need any more details.

Look I'm not sure you relaize this but being Jewish is an ethnicity not just a religion. Even if your family converted to Catholicism and a lot of us did in Portugal and Spain in the Inquisition or got banished to South America (I'm Jewish from Brasil) you are Christian religion but still Jewish ethnically. I mean in Germany being Christian couldn't save you from the Nazis if they could show you had prior Jewish (ethnic) stock after all. I'm not a sock puppet of anybody. I have no idea who Irate is. The only reason I have been seen to have been impolite, uncivil etc is because all this has made me angry. I only started on Wikipedia I think about the last week of July to work on articles regarding mostly the London Underground. In recent weeks I have begun to branch out but since there have been several incidents with other users, I will now narrow down the range of articles I edit. Regarding the codes for deletions, I asked DavidH if he could provide me with any of the codes regarding deletion and he gave me a link to one page. Check further up my user talk page and you'll see that, click on the link he gave me and you'll be taken to the page with all deletion codes, including vfd, ifd, everything.

...and by the way, I answer polite inquiries politely. Impolite inquiries or constant bombardments are another matter.
Curps, I was thinking about writing a bot that could undo all of a user's page moves executed within a certain amount of time (say 5 minutes) so as to undo the damage created by Willy style page move vandalism. If I did write such a thing, it seems like a natural addition to your block bot (i.e. block and then undo all moves). Are you running the pywikipediabot framework (which is what I use and am familiar with)? If so, I might just write it, get it working, and ask you to tack it on to your own code as an additional step.

Thanks for the bot, I was hoping someone would develop something like it, it's brilliant. Since you must know a lot about programming I'm hoping you could answer my question (or direct me to a good place to ask). In the Dab's with links project it would be useful to be able to count the number of articles that link to a particular disambiguation page (ei, using "What link here"). - The pearl script requires you to download the database (29 gig I think) and then it counts the "What links here" for all disambiguation pages. I want to just count the What links here" for one article. I can do this manually but with some artciles having >500 it takes a long time. Can the python wikipediabot do this? Is it possilbe to get the "What links here" list for an article for all entries, instead of just the first 500? --

Please, what is "technically" wrong with Sonneries de la Rose⁺Croix? It is in no single guideline that the ⁺ sign is impossible or even discouraged for article names. Sonneries de la Rose_plus_Croix is not the name of any composition by Erik Satie. I'm not even shure it was a "plus" sign that was intended by the composer. - The thing is intringuing. I'm working on my windows machine now, indeed the "superscript +" sign is not visible. So you're right on not being a viable technical solution for the page name. - So the "plus"-like thing is probably a cross (I used the image media:Cross templars.gif for the above which is cross and not plus - mark that also wikipedia has separate articles); what I'd like to check is whether Satie used a different color (a high chance he did) and whether the four ends of the sticks were broadened the way it is with the image (in that case it would definitely be a "cross" and not a "plus") - I'm nearly a 100% convinced that's what one would find. Satie was very much into medievalistic chivalry and the like when he composed this piece, and as it was Rosicrucian, "crux" (deriving into -crucean) means "cross".
- I don't know whether you know the " RIZLA+" brand of cigarette paper? That's something similar: the enterpreneur who started that factory had Lacroix ("Thecross") as last name. Then he started making cigarette paper with rice paper, rice being "Riz" in French. The original imprint on this particular type of cigarette paper is something like:

- So, RIZ LA<CROIX>, and not RIZ LA<PLUS> (note that a few years ago they "officially" omitted the space between the RIZ and the LA, only then it became RIZLA+ - the last symbol still "croix"/"cross" and not "plus")
- Nonetheless "Sonneries de la Rose_cross_Croix" would be at least as silly as wikipedia page name I suppose as "Sonneries de la Rose_plus_Croix".
- In sum, I don't know what would be the "most ideal" solution.
- Other things regarding the Satie composition:
- I've found one (but only one) of my recordings of the piece that uses the † "dagger" symbol in the print on the sleeve;
- I'm not sure about the spaces before and after the + sign: is it "Sonneries de la Rose+Croix" or "Sonneries de la Rose + Croix"? (did you already google-test that?)
- I've heard radio speakers say "Sonneries de la Rose-plus-Croix", but as an exception, most say "Sonneries de la Rose-Croix", so there's not so much "evidence" to be found I suppose.

Note however (now I'm back on my Mandrake/Mozilla machine) that the tables of that main page show no difference between "default font" and "unicode font", so not much use if it's only the tables on which to decide which of the symbols are "usable" and which are not...
- (side remark:) I use the (code from the) {{polytonic|...}} template often, for instance on wikisource:Koning_Oedipus - but that's of no relevance for page titles
- Now for Satie's Rosicrucian work:

- Similarly: "Sonneries de la Rose+Croix" is correct, the symbol is "not possible" in wikipedia -> " Sonneries de la Rose Croix" as the pagename where the article is (+ message about technical limitations on top of the article, etc...; all other versions redirects...)

I'm not a sock puppet of anybody. I have no idea who Irate is. The only reason I have been seen to have been impolite, uncivil etc is because all this has made me angry. I only started on Wikipedia I think about the last week of July to work on articles regarding mostly the London Underground. In recent weeks I have begun to branch out but since there have been several incidents with other users, I will now narrow down the range of articles I edit. Regarding the codes for deletions, I asked DavidH if he could provide me with any of the codes regarding deletion and he gave me a link to one page. Check further up my user talk page and you'll see that, click on the link he gave me and you'll be taken to the page with all deletion codes, including vfd, ifd, everything.

...and by the way, I answer polite inquiries politely. Impolite inquiries or constant bombardments are another matter.
Curps, I was thinking about writing a bot that could undo all of a user's page moves executed within a certain amount of time (say 5 minutes) so as to undo the damage created by Willy style page move vandalism. If I did write such a thing, it seems like a natural addition to your block bot (i.e. block and then undo all moves). Are you running the pywikipediabot framework (which is what I use and am familiar with)? If so, I might just write it, get it working, and ask you to tack it on to your own code as an additional step.

Curps, I fixed the two Hebrew interwiki links as per your comments. What happened there is that since there are two Degania kibbutzes ("A" and "B"), links to both were provided. Thanks for the bot, I was hoping someone would develop something like it, it's brilliant. Since you must know a lot about programming I'm hoping you could answer my question (or direct me to a good place to ask). In the Dab's with links project it would be useful to be able to count the number of articles that link to a particular disambiguation page (ei, using "What link here"). - The pearl script requires you to download the database (29 gig I think) and then it counts the "What links here" for all disambiguation pages. I want to just count the What links here" for one article. I can do this manually but with some artciles having >500 it takes a long time. Can the python wikipediabot do this? Is it possilbe to get the "What links here" list for an article for all entries, instead of just the first 500? --

Please, what is "technically" wrong with Sonneries de la Rose⁺Croix? It is in no single guideline that the ⁺ sign is impossible or even discouraged for article names. Sonneries de la Rose_plus_Croix is not the name of any composition by Erik Satie. I'm not even shure it was a "plus" sign that was intended by the composer. - The thing is intringuing. I'm working on my windows machine now, indeed the "superscript +" sign is not visible. So you're right on not being a viable technical solution for the page name. I would like to see this in the guidelines somewhere. Maybe it is somewhere, and I didn't find it; maybe it needs to be inserted somewhere. Could you let me know where it is, or add it where it needs to be added? I'd be really grateful!
- The really intriguing thing is that Satie probably wrote something like this (I'd like to see the manuscript or the first print, but I'm quite convinced it'd look something like this):

- So the "plus"-like thing is probably a cross (I used the image media:Cross templars.gif for the above which is cross and not plus - mark that also wikipedia has separate articles); what I'd like to check is whether Satie used a different color (a high chance he did) and whether the four ends of the sticks were broadened the way it is with the image (in that case it would definitely be a "cross" and not a "plus") - I'm nearly a 100% convinced that's what one would find. Satie was very much into medievalistic chivalry and the like when he composed this piece, and as it was Rosicrucian, "crux" (deriving into -crucean) means "cross".
- I don't know whether you know the " RIZLA+" brand of cigarette paper? That's something similar: the enterpreneur who started that factory had Lacroix ("Thecross") as last name. Then he started making cigarette paper with rice paper, rice being "Riz" in French. The original imprint on this particular type of cigarette paper is something like:

- So, RIZ LA<CROIX>, and not RIZ LA<PLUS> (note that a few years ago they "officially" omitted the space between the RIZ and the LA, only then it became RIZLA+ - the last symbol still "croix"/"cross" and not "plus")
- Nonetheless "Sonneries de la Rose_cross_Croix" would be at least as silly as wikipedia page name I suppose as "Sonneries de la Rose_plus_Croix".
- In sum, I don't know what would be the "most ideal" solution.
- Other things regarding the Satie composition:
- I've found one (but only one) of my recordings of the piece that uses the † "dagger" symbol in the print on the sleeve;
- I'm not sure about the spaces before and after the + sign: is it "Sonneries de la Rose+Croix" or "Sonneries de la Rose + Croix"? (did you already google-test that?)
- I've heard radio speakers say "Sonneries de la Rose-plus-Croix", but as an exception, most say "Sonneries de la Rose-Croix", so there's not so much "evidence" to be found I suppose.

Note however (now I'm back on my Mandrake/Mozilla machine) that the tables of that main page show no difference between "default font" and "unicode font", so not much use if it's only the tables on which to decide which of the symbols are "usable" and which are not...
- (side remark:) I use the (code from the) {{polytonic|...}} template often, for instance on wikisource:Koning_Oedipus - but that's of no relevance for page titles
- Now for Satie's Rosicrucian work:

So here's what I'd take as better evidence of the correct way of spelling it:
- Gillmore (one of of the biographers of Erik Satie, see references on Erik Satie page)
- Ornella Volta, even more an authority (Erik Satie centre in Paris, see same references)

- RIZLA+: "correct" way of spelling: "RIZLA+"; "+" sign is in fact transliteration of a symbol that can not be used in a wikipedia pagename title: so: wikipedia page name cuts away the symbol (and puts all letters apart from the first in lower case per naming conventions for that matter), so the article title is: " Rizla"
- Similarly: "Sonneries de la Rose+Croix" is correct, the symbol is "not possible" in wikipedia -> " Sonneries de la Rose Croix" as the pagename where the article is (+ message about technical limitations on top of the article, etc...; all other versions redirects...)
