I wanted to point out that in Mexico their counties are called municipalities (boroughs in Mexico city). It often confuses people because in other countries municipalities are incorporated cities. In Mexico to be a city it has to already be incorporated and a municipality is never a city, although there are a small few that have cities that make up nearly all the municipalities, like Saltillo. Municipalities are second level divisions, state being first level. Their needs to be seperate pages for both the municipalities and for the municipal seat city even though they often share the same, or similar names. Just like counties in the US, the municipalities can cover hundreds of square miles and hundreds of towns. All of the municipalities were founded after the independence in 1821 which often kept boundaries of previous govornment or ecclesiastical boundaries. https://en.mexico.pueblosamerica.com/ is a good database. You look up the state, then the municipality, then it has a list of all the cities and towns in each municipality. Most of the English pages in Mexico have municipalities and cities merged or mixed. All the maps for the cities should show a point while the municipalities show the bounaries, like in this one for the municipality of Taxco: /info/en/?search=Taxco_de_Alarc%C3%B3n_(municipality) and the city of Taxco: /info/en/?search=Taxco. Here is a map of the municipalities of Baja California and you can clearly see that they are not cities. Every state has a similar map of municipalities: /info/en/?search=File:Municipalities_of_Baja_California_Sur.png It is especially confusing when they have merged a municipality and city that doesn't share the same official name. All the pages should say the they are one of XX municipalities in the state of XX. There are templates made for municipalities and they should all be tied to a page that lists the municipalities of that state.
I would correct them, but I am inexperienced in editing wikipedia and I don't know how to undo pages that have been moved or many other things. I appreciate you fixing some of my mistakes. - What there should be is a wiki page for Mexico that covers all Primary statistical areas, Metro areas, Cities, Municipalities, what have you. For example: Cities and metropolitan areas of the United States. One page where you can find all of that info.
- Specifically regarding Irapuato and Salamanca, Spanish language Wikipedia does have a page for the Metro Area of Irapuato-Salamanca.

- @ DavidESPN: The key difference between what Cities and metropolitan areas of the United States does and what you're trying to do by adding Irapuato to the CONAPO list is that all the statistics on the US page come from one authoritative national source, the US Census Bureau. The national authorities in Mexico that publish equivalent statistics are INEGI and CONAPO. That is why our lists of Mexican cities and metropolitan areas are based only on their statistics. The Spanish page on the Irapuato–Salamanca agglomeration points out that only Guanajuato state authorities recognize it as a metropolitan area; federal authorities do not. - There are many Mexican municipalities that don't have an article themselves but whose municipal seats ( Pastor Ortiz for José Sixto Verduzco) do have articles. I'm generally not inclined to start separate articles on those municipalities because it's often doubtful whether there's enough material to justify standalone pages for both. In fact, Granados is a good example of this: INEGI literally recognizes no other inhabited locality in the municipality other than Granados itself. Probably a merge is in order.
- Besides, I've worked on Mexican municipalities on and off for over four years now. As long as Mexico keeps creating new municipalities (besides San Felipe in Baja California, another six were approved by state congresses last year, which will probably be implemented by the time of the next municipal elections in 2024), I'll keep writing articles for them, but I'd also like to spend more time writing about other topics for a change. - This is the first time I've seen this site. But it took me less than five minutes to find errors in the data set, e.g., Paracelsus was not a woman, and Marie-Louise Meilleur was not a politician. Apparently Abraham and Isaac are people but Lot and Ishmael are not. And by the way, " Aaron is most famous for his contributions to the development of a new branch of mathematics known as set theory." Not exactly a promising start...
- Now let's look at the rankings The FAQ says, "To validate HPI, we previously showed that it correlates better with accomplishments than single metrics, when we focus on activities where individual accomplishments are measurable (e.g. Chess, Olympic Swimming, Tennis, Formula One)." So if any part of the rankings should make good sense, you would think it should be the rankings for those four listed sports.
- I don't know anything about swimming or car racing, but let's look at chess and tennis. Kasparov and Carlsen ranked the 12th and 56th most memorable chess players, and Gaprindashvili and Menchik more memorable than Judit Polgar? Serena Williams the 22nd most memorable tennis player, and Lacoste and Perry more memorable than Federer and Nadal? These are the results that were used to validate HPI?
- Let's just take one more example from a different field: Madonna the 35th most memorable woman in the arts, behind Maggie Smith and Montserrat Caballé? Hmmm...

Based on what I saw, list of chess plyers from whole history looks terribly at first look but at least looks much better if we check chess players who deid beetwen 2000 and 2022. I assume in every field probably are mistakes as in various fields people have peak at other age (or are forgotten at diffrent age) but they tried make HPI index for every field the same (a ka Pope has peak maybe during 75 years old, politicians maybe 50, random celebrites maybe +35 but random sportpeople other than Chess/Formula1 maybe 25), somewhere ont hat websote there is statistis which shows that today peole born in 1988 have the most language versions. - Sorry for the delayed reply, I just got back from a trip to Mexico. Ranking all Chinese people is a Sisyphean task. Generally speaking, politicians seem overrepresented, and their rankings seem a bit random. People related to recent wushu movies (Ip Man, Wong Fei-Hung, Huo Yuanjia, various actors and directors) are severely overrated. More specific things that pop out at me include:
- I don't know why Sun Tzu is listed as a woman.
- It's bizarre that Huang Xianfan is #4 overall. The Pantheon bio says he is "most famous for his involvement in the Tiananmen Square protests of 1989", but he died in 1982. Did the site mix him up with somebody else?
- Yao Ming should be the highest ranked Chinese sportsperson – all the sportspeople ahead of him should be ranked lower.
- Zhou Xuan and Mei Lanfang should probably be top 10 arts people, and Su Shi should be top 10 in humanities.
- I don't know anything about Turkic linguistics, so the high ranking of Mahmud al-Kashgari is a surprise. One would think that Lu Fayan, compiler of Qieyun which is the basis for studies of Middle Chinese, should be roughly equal in importance; but Lu Fayan is not in Pantheon's database at all, perhaps because he has no Wikipedia article. We still have a lot of work to do in terms of overcoming systemic bias.
- Listing Li Ching-Yuen is a bit silly. He should switch places in the overall rankings with Yue Fei.

I noted you often edit pages like Most visited museums etc. on Wikipedia. As we have many such articles and List of most-downloaded Google Play applications and many other lists (some even raher trivial like most liked Instagram post), what do you think about idea to crate an article: "most visited places in the World by number of Google Maps reviews"? I started in my sandbox working on the article List of most visited palaces and monuments; but accidentally I confused word "palaces" with "places (read it in another way), so I dedicated my time not for what I excepted for; Neverthless like I said I had on my mind to create article which would by dynamic lsit (wp:dynamic lsitts are the lits which require enduring searhing and updating). Some things about too vague/common topics did not got well on Wikipedia like List of fastest-selling products how about that idea? Or maybe for start it would be better to add content of google maps reviews into tables about these subtopics like most visited museums, monuments, palaces etc.? OR adding list with small top 10 to article Google maps itself? I was wondering how sources directly from Google maps would work as probably opening the subject on Google Maps can depend on where you use your PC/Mobile Phone, I had on my mind also thing that objects can put contact details on Google Maps profile but hope that should not be problem as Wikipedia articles commonly give in extrenal links also links to official pages of the brands for example? Dawid2009: Whenever you start a new article or list, you'll want to make sure the topic meets the
general notability guideline. That is to say, you'll want to make sure you can find multiple reliable sources that are independent of the subject that you can rely on to write the article. You can't use
user-generated content provided by Google Maps as a source for any article (let alone one about Google Maps itself), and that one page you've linked to would probably not be considered reliable either.

- If there are print encyclopedias that compile statistics for tourist attractions on an international basis, that would be obvious evidence of notability. I understand your motivation and sympathize with it, but I'm not sure if you've thought through how to define a "place" and what counts as a visit. Based on what I saw, list of chess plyers from whole history looks terribly at first look but at least looks much better if we check chess players who deid beetwen 2000 and 2022. I assume in every field probably are mistakes as in various fields people have peak at other age (or are forgotten at diffrent age) but they tried make HPI index for every field the same (a ka Pope has peak maybe during 75 years old, politicians maybe 50, random celebrites maybe +35 but random sportpeople other than Chess/Formula1 maybe 25), somewhere ont hat websote there is statistis which shows that today peole born in 1988 have the most language versions. - Interesting that GuzzyG knew of the list, but I still don't remember having looked at it myself before. Looking at chess players who died 2000–2022, the most obvious error is that Pachman is listed as a woman. The top five are OK, but the next seven should be something like Gligoric, Taimanov, Lilienthal, Benko, Gashimov, Ivkov, and Byrne. One issue I consistently have with the methodology is that it seriously underrates more recent people, especially those with exceptional achievements: besides Gashimov, Miles and Penrose ought to switch places.

- Sorry for the delayed reply, I just got back from a trip to Mexico. Ranking all Chinese people is a Sisyphean task. Generally speaking, politicians seem overrepresented, and their rankings seem a bit random. People related to recent wushu movies (Ip Man, Wong Fei-Hung, Huo Yuanjia, various actors and directors) are severely overrated. More specific things that pop out at me include:
- I don't know why Sun Tzu is listed as a woman.
- It's bizarre that Huang Xianfan is #4 overall. The Pantheon bio says he is "most famous for his involvement in the Tiananmen Square protests of 1989", but he died in 1982. Did the site mix him up with somebody else?
- Yao Ming should be the highest ranked Chinese sportsperson – all the sportspeople ahead of him should be ranked lower.
- Zhou Xuan and Mei Lanfang should probably be top 10 arts people, and Su Shi should be top 10 in humanities.
- I don't know anything about Turkic linguistics, so the high ranking of Mahmud al-Kashgari is a surprise. One would think that Lu Fayan, compiler of Qieyun which is the basis for studies of Middle Chinese, should be roughly equal in importance; but Lu Fayan is not in Pantheon's database at all, perhaps because he has no Wikipedia article. We still have a lot of work to do in terms of overcoming systemic bias.
- Listing Li Ching-Yuen is a bit silly. He should switch places in the overall rankings with Yue Fei.

I would like to bring to your attention that https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Maltese_Chess_Championship mentions that Jack Mizzi in 2022 won (a) Junior Championship (b) Rapid National Championship and (c) Blitz National Championship. The Core Contest—Wikipedia's most exciting contest—will take place this year from April 15 to May 31. The goal: to improve vital or other core articles, with a focus on those in the worst state of disrepair. Editing can be done individually, but in the past groups have also successfully competed. I've just tried to find the reason why Visual Editor has destroyed the table in Metropolitan areas of Mexico. I noted you often edit pages like Most visited museums etc. on Wikipedia. As we have many such articles and List of most-downloaded Google Play applications and many other lists (some even raher trivial like most liked Instagram post), what do you think about idea to crate an article: "most visited places in the World by number of Google Maps reviews"? I started in my sandbox working on the article List of most visited palaces and monuments; but accidentally I confused word "palaces" with "places (read it in another way), so I dedicated my time not for what I excepted for; Neverthless like I said I had on my mind to create article which would by dynamic lsit (wp:dynamic lsitts are the lits which require enduring searhing and updating). Some things about too vague/common topics did not got well on Wikipedia like List of fastest-selling products how about that idea? Or maybe for start it would be better to add content of google maps reviews into tables about these subtopics like most visited museums, monuments, palaces etc.? OR adding list with small top 10 to article Google maps itself? I was wondering how sources directly from Google maps would work as probably opening the subject on Google Maps can depend on where you use your PC/Mobile Phone, I had on my mind also thing that objects can put contact details on Google Maps profile but hope that should not be problem as Wikipedia articles commonly give in extrenal links also links to official pages of the brands for example? Dawid2009: Whenever you start a new article or list, you'll want to make sure the topic meets the
general notability guideline. That is to say, you'll want to make sure you can find multiple reliable sources that are independent of the subject that you can rely on to write the article. You can't use
user-generated content provided by Google Maps as a source for any article (let alone one about Google Maps itself), and that one page you've linked to would probably not be considered reliable either.

List of most-followed Instagram accounts, relatd to non-high culture, because of instagram account can not be pat of UNESCO meanwhile often visited architecture object can belongs to high culture, Wikipedia has problem that is biased in technology/Internet articles like Instagram but is not focussed on topics which can be easier to be found in print encyclopedias

- If there are print encyclopedias that compile statistics for tourist attractions on an international basis, that would be obvious evidence of notability. I understand your motivation and sympathize with it, but I'm not sure if you've thought through how to define a "place" and what counts as a visit.
