I wanted to thank you so much

For the Awesome Wikipedian Star you awarded to me more than a year ago in March 2009. I don't think I thanked you at the time mainly because I was just so flabbergasted to get an award like that, especially from someone that I think I had not ever "talked" to. So anyway, many many thanks for your kindness. Best wishes, Invertzoo ( talk) 00:52, 4 August 2010 (UTC) reply

Naultinus overhaul; reassessment query

Hey man. I'm a member of the Amphibians and Reptiles wikiproject and I've been doing a lot of work in recent months on the article for NZ's endemic genus of Green Geckos, Naultinus. I just doubled its size in the last 2 days and I'm a stickler for verifiability ,so there are plenty of inline citations in there.. I'm pushing for GA and although I haven't finished working on it yet (I realize it desperately needs more images, I'm working on changing this atm..) I was wanting to get its quality reassessed as it's certainly above "Start" class by now - I don't feel qualified to make the reassessment however and you are an admin within the AAR wikiproject,m so I was just wondering if you would be interesting in making the call as to what level it is at now(?). Any feedback as to how to further improve the article would be greatly appreciated also. Cheers, Kotare ( talk) 03:46, 8 August 2010 (UTC) reply

I had the hyphens in to differentiate the causes of decline from the other points - the difference in size in font is minimal between the various headers so I used the hyphens in addition -they were to show that those 3 were a set of factors within the topic of "threats and declines". I was hoping you could reassess it for me, I do feel very strongly that it is above "start" class now, especially when I compare it some of the other start class articles in the wikiproject. Was hoping to get some feedback if that is ok (?) Kotare ( talk) 10:38, 9 August 2010 (UTC) reply
See these for ex; Lizard, Caecilian, Salamander - all "Top" for importance in the wikiproject and all at "C Class". Naultinus now has much more content than these but most importantly more references and many more inline citations, so I would have thought it would at least be at C class. I have an aussie friend on here who is an admin and I was going to ask him to do the reassessment for me but I just thought it would be better to ask you since you are an admin within this wikiproject.. Kotare ( talk) 10:44, 9 August 2010 (UTC) reply

Thank you for your constructive and helpful feedback! I have been wondering about how to better do my inline citations for a long time now.. so I will check the MOS out now - and yeah, totally, this article is extremely image poor atm. My goal is to get it to GA and I think I'll want at least 4 or 5 to get it looking better, I will send out some emails to see if I can't hunt out a few images soon. Would you be able to assist with your shared resources?

Hello. I'm pmedema and recently been asked to help out with an article Norbert Basil MacLean III. The reason I've contacted you is because your name came up in a shared resourse list. As I'm going through the references for this article a number of them are uncheckable by myself and I'm hoping you can help out with a couple of them.

Ultimately, the article is almost as detailed as President Obama's article. A brief glimps of the article, your opinion and to check a couple of references would be amazing. If you don't have the time, would you know another wikipedian who might be able to help with the references/citations?

Thanks.

Pmedema ( talk)

Thanks for your assistance... Here is a couple of the ones that I'm finding difficult to check...

Obituary of Noelene A. (O'Connor) Grube, The Post Standard, April 16, 1980
Executive Order 13430, April 18, 2007
Walbert, Claude, "Bill Would Let Court-Martialed Appeal to Justices", Los Angeles Daily Journal, March 21, 2005, front page
MacLean v. United States of America, case number 02cv2250-K(AJB), U.S. District Court for the Southern District of California at docket number 9
A copy of the letter of commendation is contained in the court record of MacLean v. United States, case number 04-448C, U.S. Court of Federal Claims
Walbert, Claude, "Ex Navy Officer Hopes for Military Justice", Los Angeles Daily Journal, June 19, 2003, page 2
Vielmetti, Bruce, "Cryptologist sues banks over court-martial", St. Petersburg Times, February 19, 1994, 3B
Frush, Charlie, "A Caring Haven Where Boys Learn a Direction in Life", Philadelphia Inquirer, July 5, 1989, C2

These are some of them... Pmedema ( talk)

  • Thanks for the one that you were able to email to me... The article's claim and the reference associated to it did not jive. Considering that the first hard to get reference is like this, makes me question all of Norbert Basil MacLean III and the other hard to find references. What is your opinion on how to proceed with the article if I may ask? Pmedema ( talk) 04:42, 18 August 2010 (UTC) reply

I'm a new user who is not yet sure how to communicate here on Wikipedia, so I hope you will get this.

Reference the following:

Northampton At what time did these activities stop running? It seems like a bit of town history that can be integrated into a larger section about the town's history as a whole. bibliomaniac </wikipedia/en/wiki/User:Bibliomaniac15></wikipedia/en/wiki/User_talk:Bibliomaniac15></wikipedia/en/wiki/Special:Contributions/Bibliomaniac15> 20:17, 24 June 2010 (UTC)

Northampton Area School District Official Web Site < http://www.northampton.k12.pa.us/>. Public Library < http://www.northamptonapl.org/Northampton>. JB's Northampton < http://sites.google.com/site/jbsnorthamptonpa/home>.

In answer to your comment of 24 June 2010, I do not have detailed info on how long these historical events existed. I have solicited further info in my postings to the main article on Northampton, PA.

However, I must note here the following with respect to the second abovenoted EXTERNAL LINKS paste herewith. The last link included is a website operated by JB (JB's Northampton), who has a quite detailed and comprehensive history, on his website, that includes significant historical details of not only Northampton's history and of it's importance in the early history of both the area of Eastern Pennsylvania but also of America itself.

Such details include not only the facts of this area of Eastern Pennsylvania being major industrial contributors to such as the construction of the Panama Canal (with cement from Northampton) and construction of the Golden Gate Bridge (with steel from Bethlehem, PA, in the Northampton area), but also history of the industries of the Northampton area: numerous major cement companies and quarries; major steel producing companies; numerous early American railroads, that serviced these industries; the historical Eastern Pennsylvania Lehigh River Industrial Canal, where mule-drawn barges transported industrial and commercial goods throughout the area via many water-locks along the Lehigh River, just like the Panama Canal; and the Northampton area towns and cities that serviced all of these early American industries.

JB's website is quite detailed with regard to much of this history, even though it is grammatically poor in presentation and, as of last updating, said to be Under Construction, by the website owner, who is a very busy person, with employment and advanced schooling.

Here is the current quandary, however. I have been contacted by JB, who advises that, due to the constraints of his life, he will no longer be able to update and maintain his Northampton website and has advised that he may soon delete the website entirely. It would seriously be a significant loss of the extensive info and details that he has already accumulated on the website.

I, myself, could go through his pages and edit them for proper grammer and presentation, as well as, somehow, transferring the info to a new and expanded historical section for the Northampton article on Wikipedia, although such would be a major undertaking for this new Wikipedia user. Plus, I don't know how to transfer such detailed text and images and formatting, from another person's website, onto the main Wikipedia article, along with the obviously necessary links to all of the major industrial articles relevant thereto, which may or may not already exist on Wikipedia.

What might you suggest? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 56PackardExec ( talkcontribs) 07:30, 22 September 2010 (UTC) reply

Why have you deleted User:Rlevse/Today/Happy Me Day!? Rlevse took this initiative over from User:Phaedreal, and it may be that someone else might take it on. It's a rare example of appreciation being given here, perhaps. Rodhull andemu 01:11, 6 November 2010 (UTC) reply

Meanwhile, up to 365 committed editors suddenly have redlinks on their user pages. Was that your intention? Rodhull andemu 01:14, 6 November 2010 (UTC) reply
In the absence of a timely response, I've restored these pages out of respected for the multiple editors who have been honoured, however trivial you may consider that to be; speedy deletion requires strong justification, not unilateral action. However, if you have evidence that User:Rlevse desired his work to be trashed, please feel free to let me know. Regards. Rodhull andemu 01:46, 6 November 2010 (UTC) reply

Rodhullandemu, if you look at Bibliomaniac15's logs for today, you'll see that within a few minutes he deleted dozens of pages in Rlevse's userspace, by Rlevse's request. The obvious conclusion is that this page was among them, not because Rlevse wanted this particular page to be "trashed," but as part of requesting deletion of his whole userspace as part of his retirement from the project. In this context, I find the tone of your comments toward Bibliomaniac15 unhelpful. Also completely unhelpful is the implication that Bibliomaniac15 failed to respond in a timely fashion, given that only 35 minutes had elapsed since your first post here and that Bibliomaniac15 has not edited in a few hours.

Despite all of that, I understand your desire to save that particular page, and perhaps a way can be worked out to do so. Newyorkbrad ( talk) 01:52, 6 November 2010 (UTC) reply

The pages were deleted without edit summaries. Even a link would have helped, since I am not psychic, and neither are editors who have that userbox on their pages. However, I have reverted the two particular pages that impinge on multiple other users, on the principle of "least surprise". I am an admin and somewhat savvy, perhaps, but the outfall of other users suddenly finding their user pages borked for no apparent reason seems to me to be unnecessary in the circumstances. What if you'd come back after a break, as a major editor, but not an Admin; you would be confused, disappointed and perhaps angry. That's why an edit summary might have helped. Sorry if I appear to exhibit too much concern for other users; I know it's rare, but it happens from time to time. Rodhull andemu 02:02, 6 November 2010 (UTC) reply

Latsabidze Giorgi

Dear Bibliomaniac15, Please have a look my article when you grab a chance here I would like to ask you a question and I would appreciate if you could help me. According to some researches I have done I would like to add some quotations cited by some critics and published in some newspapers. Here is example what I would like to include in the article : He mesmerized concertgoers and critics, who have praised “Sheer poetry and art of the highest order” (Berliner Zeitung, Germany); “Today’s piano playing at its very best” (Salzburger Nachrichten, Austria), “One of the world-class virtuosi of the 21st century” (Le Monde, Paris). Well I might change the opening sentence where i mentioned words: "mesmerized critics..praised" - I think putting this in wiki would be a problem? Please let me know what is your suggestion. I can reference this reviews. I need to know some opinions from other users what they think about putting these sentences in article. I just wanna make sure it will not be a subject of removal, however if that contradicts notability of this article I will consider not putting in it. Thank you! If someone has once put up a list of the illustrated works of this author, if I type in the same list, how can they not be the same list. And once someone types in that list, nobody else can ever produce the same list?

Really, do you have a suggestion? Is the information just gone? Nobody can ever type in the list of books illustrated by this artist again?

For the Awesome Wikipedian Star you awarded to me more than a year ago in March 2009. I don't think I thanked you at the time mainly because I was just so flabbergasted to get an award like that, especially from someone that I think I had not ever "talked" to.

Thank you! Any evidence?

Can you provide any evidence for your edit summary here? / Pieter Kuiper ( talk) 08:31, 21 December 2010 (UTC) reply

CHU/S Concern

Hi Bib, I was just perusing the CHU/S page and noticed something odd: the 2 requests "Geoffrey.M.Gleadall → Brigantianos" and "G.M.Gladehall → Coccionos" sure appear to be the same user, and both accounts have been editing recently. (Additionally, Coccionos talk page doesn't look promising...). Perhaps a word about the proper use of multiple accounts may be in order? Just thought I'd bring it up. Mahlon Blaine page and copyright?

Can you suggest how I can put the list of works in that is not a copyright violation. It is a list. A list, in and of itself, is not copyright protected. See Feist v Rural Telephone.
