Updating Admin Coaching

Hi, I see that you are listed as an active coach.

This is just a reminder to ask that you keep the entry at Wikipedia:Admin_coaching/Status up to date - if you take on a new student, or a student stops being coached, could you update your entry?

Please accept my apologies if you have been doing this - I'm sending this to everyone on the current active list, and not trying to track down what coaching is being done!

If you are no longer willing to coach, please remember to move your name to the "Former coaches" section!

Keeping the list up to date means that any potential coachees can clearly see what the current state of play is!

Thank you for your attention... and now, I'm off back to what I was doing before!

Request for your opinion

Hello, Bibliomaniac. I have an interesting situation that I would like an admin opinion about. I have several talk page stalkers and we generally have ongoing discussions on my talk page about various things, mostly WP related. While our discussions are chatty on occasion, we all work too. User:Lawlar (with whom I have had no interaction) came by and deleted an entire discussion that he deemed myspacing. He did this to User:Mono also. Mono is a new addition to my tps's and has engaged in behavior I deem immature, but I do not believe that Lawlar's mass deletion was warranted. Lawlar also left a warning for Mono which I think sounds very knowledgeable for a new user. All of his edits are from today. Please tell me what you think. Request for Edit Source Info

Bibliomaniac15

Hello! I am an old 70yo gent in California who would like to contribute/edit the Wikipedia listing for my rural hometown in Eastern Pennsylvania. The listing has a History section and under that section, I'd like to add a few historical community events that occurred in my childhood there in the '50's.

I've looked on the Web but could not find any verification of these events, the Northampton County Fair (circa '50's) and the Northampton Jack Frost Parade (also circa '50's), as well as the long-time weekly-held Public Bingo Games at the Lappawinzo Rod & Gun Club & Fairgrounds(where the Northampton County Fair was held), which had buses of Bingo-players arriving every Friday evening from states and towns all over the East Coast (a major event).

These events were probably reported in newspaper articles of the day in the Allentown (PA) Morning Call newspaper, but the Morning Call's archives only start in 1984. Perhaps '50's copies of such articles might be found on microfiche, but my local library here in California only has local California newspaper microfiches.

I know intimately about these events and can provide much detail, as my Father was the Creator/Director of these events, but anything that I wrote would be unconfirmed/unverifiable. Somehow I need to obtain reliable confirmation sources for my edit. (I've contacted local Northampton administrative people but no one can offer any info about such '50's events.) Unless it might be permissible to just edit the existing article content and also provide a Notice that Requests any Knowledgeable Person to provide confirming substantiation of said edit facts. Is that possible?

What should I do? Again, the article is 'Northampton, Pennsylvania'. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 56PackardExec ( talkcontribs) 23:36, 13 June 2010 (UTC) reply

Thanks for your reply. I've already accordingly edited the historical section of the Northampton page. I trust such is acceptable. '56PackardExec —Preceding unsigned comment added by 56PackardExec ( talkcontribs) 19:06, 2 July 2010 (UTC) reply

Hello old friend! I wanted to get your opinion on something. I removed an edit to the Lucille Ball article [2] because it was a piece of memorabilia with her signature on it. I felt that it had no relevance to the article and it certainly was never mentioned within the body of the same. I felt that should a spot be written about how she adored her fans or how she sent messages to them it would be appropriate for inclusion. I was just wondering how you felt about this and if I in fact did the right thing by removing it from the page. I just don't want the article to turn into a museum of artifacts or a depository for memorabilia. If it is relevant to the article I would not have a problem. Can you give me your opinion? Also, if you look on the talk page [3] you will see I did give the other editor an option that we could both work towards. Canyouhearmenow 13:09, 17 June 2010 (UTC) reply

Rollback assistance needed

I am requesting assistance on the Rachel Lloyd article. On July 8 and 9, User:MeditationSpace has blanked sourced information and various portions of the article, reverted edits, and removed all references. I became involved with the article through the Workproject:Wikify. The article had been tagged as lacking references and in need of wikification. I also discovered that the article was written much like promotional material or a resume. Rather than PROD, I began the process of researching the subject, adding content, and references to make it an appropriate biography. Others also assisted with constructive edits as well. Then yesterday, the edits/vandalism showed up.

It appears that the user has a conflict of interest as a colleague and coworker of the subject of the article. User has inserted an additional name within the article as a colleague through film production. I am familiar with the film and structure of this organization. The name added to the article is a lecturer and advocate of meditation. Changes and edits made indicate a conflict of interest, lack of neutrality, and censorship. User appears concerned about the sensitive content in the article as indicated in the edit summary of July 8, 2010. The latest edit did not include a summary, but I assume it was made for the same reasons.

  1. (cur | prev) 22:23, July 8, 2010 MeditationSpace (talk | contribs) (5,239 bytes) (cut out content inappropriate for a biography of a living person including date and place of birth, insensitive inclusion of information about rapes, beatings etc and childhood exp, inappropriate tone) (undo) (Tag: blanking)

I'm assuming good faith and a simple lack of understanding on the part of the User. While on the surface, inclusions of this nature would not be appropriate for BLP. However, the subject is the founder of a national human trafficking organization, with a background speaking before national and international organizations sharing her story. These organizations include the United Nations, major colleges and universities, national news media, and the U.S. Congress, Senate, and HHS Committee on Human Trafficking. She has received international honors and awards for her social advocacy, based on her personal background and "war story." The information in the article was sourced, although the article was not complete. It still presents as promotional material or a resume. However, now lacking all references. I hope this is enough explanation. Your help and any advice you may have is greatly appreciated. Thanks. Cindamuse ( talk) 00:31, 10 July 2010 (UTC) reply

Thanks for the response, but how do you suggest this be resolved? This user has now vandalized this page twice. The page was going through a major revision and she just arbitrarily censored the article. Not to mention COI and NPOV. There may have been a bit more information on the subject's early life, however, this is understandable as a work in progress. There was more to be added. But now, what's the point if User:MeditationSpace is going to continue to arbitrarily censor at will? Is there no recourse to return it to a working copy, including copy and sources? She was instructed not to blank sourced pages and to work toward consensus on the talk page to no avail. Can these changes be reverted? Cindamuse ( talk) 02:56, 10 July 2010 (UTC) reply

Action review request

Hi, thanks for restoring my mop. Slightly complex question/review: Adivasi_yuva_shakti

Repeatedly created page by the same user ( User:Adiyuva), deleted multiple times for various CSD reasons (the latest including copyvios from at least one website). Appears to be a foreign charity organization of some kind, so it could be notable, but certainly not with the repeatedly deleted creations. I really don't like full page protections, but in this case I SALTed it for a few months asking feedback from the user. I didn't block the user as he appears to be a somewhat new/confused editor with some... attempts at constructive edits.

Appropriate actions? I know usually people SALT pages indefinately (and years ago I did as well) but in this case most edits were within a couple of weeks or so, so I only did it for a few months.

I read, and reread the protection, CSD, deletion etc. policy and such countless times; hopefully I didn't miss anything.

Only I didn't see anything in any of the instructions about good article reviews that said whether or not you could. Once again, thanks for your review and help! Reminder for admin coaching

Hey bibliomaniac. Just checking in for admin coaching, and notifying you about Wikipedia:Community_de-adminship/RfC I figure you knew, but if you didn't it's fairly important. I have yet to decide how to vote. Secondly I have written two more articles: Mo Tae-Bum and LG Mobile World Cup, the second which I nominated for GA and is on hold. Plus a featured picture File:Balaklava sick 2.jpg Enough with the bragsheet, I just wanted to remind you about the admin coaching. If you don't have enough time, the whole process isn't pressing, so feel free to hold off until you do. NativeForeigner Talk/ Contribs 03:30, 23 February 2010 (UTC) reply
