- Magnolia677 I'm aware of guidelines, what constitutes reliable source, etc. I'm also aware that a bit of calm good judgment is fundamental in deciding when to demand sourcing for basic facts at the banal truism level, as is manifested all-but-innumerable times in the Tucson article as well as any other. Aside from cluttering the text excessively, it does no harm to source non-controversial common-knowledge observations such as "... is home to the University of Arizona", "Tucson is sometimes referred to as 'The Old Pueblo'", "The city is built along the Santa Cruz River", etc. etc. It's simply unnecessary. collaborate with others, to avoid editing
disruptively, and to

- Ouch, indeed! The name began to come to me one day as I was attempting to do some clarifications on a Wikipedia article while seated on our patio outside the Old Pueblo. An especially cantankerous type who seemed to know somewhere between little and nothing about the topic in question seemed also to be intent on edit warring, while very selectively worshiping and citing the letter (definitely not the spirit) of Wikipedia law. I looked out over the desert beyond the garden wall -- saguaros, prickly pears, chollas... -- thinking that dealing with this guy is a bit like trying to walk barefoot in the desert. By being extremely careful, you might get only a few painful punctures, but a no-pain stroll is impossible. A few days later I signed up with an official handle, et voilà: from then on, Barefoot through the chollas ( talk) 22:15, 18 February 2023 (UTC)
