As it's been a while since you signed up for admin coaching, I am just checking that you still wish to receive it. If so just add you name to the "Unassigned" section of the coaching box, and you'll be assigned a couple of coaches as soon as they become available. Let me know (on my talk page) if you have any questions. Cheers, Petros471 10:36, 26 August 2006 (UTC) reply

As there area couple of free coaches I've assigned you Prodego and Mysekurity as your coaches for when you get back. Exactly what form the admin coaching takes is up to you and the coaches to decide, but a general piece of advice I give is to set up a user subpage (for example User:Asterion/Admin coaching) to keep coaching discussion together. That prevents things getting split up over three talk pages, which can get confusing! Let me know (on my talk page) if you have any questions. Cheers, Petros471 17:35, 27 August 2006 (UTC) reply
Hello Asterion, as you know from above I will be one of your coaches. I just wanted to drop by and warn you my ability to edit for the next few weeks will be unpredictable, so I can't be sure how active I will be. However I will do my best to be there, Prodego talk 17:55, 27 August 2006 (UTC) reply
Hey Asterion, I am your co-coach (the other being the very friendly Prodego, above, as you can probably tell), and am very happy to meet you. I appologize if this is of any inconvenience to you, and will try my damndest to stay up to date on all things Wikipedia (an e-mail will always get to me, however). Sevilla, la grande

¡Hola, Asterion! Bien, bien...

Un saludo, E Asterion u talking to me?

We appear to have been editing the Casa de la Contratacion pages at the same time.

My understanding is that the Casa was not a building, but was a committee which met predominantly in the Alcazares. I believe that the building which you have labelled as "Casa de la Contratacion" (now the Archive of the Indies) was originally built as a covered market and had no initial connection with La Casa?

cf. http://www.turismo.sevilla.org/paginas_en/patrimoniomonumentalficha.asp?idpatrimonio=99

Best Wishes User:littlerussell

To be honest, I'm not very familiar with the history of La Casa (too bad as I was born in Seville) but a friend of a friend works at the Archive of the Indies as a researcher. I think you could be right and that the Archive is merely the place where the old papers from the Casa are being kept (So maybe the picture should say Archive of the Indies building, where the Casa de Contratacion historic papers are kept). I know for a fact that the Casa was moved to Cadiz at some stage because the Guadalquivir became almost unnavigable. E Asterion u talking to me? 22:21, 26 August 2006 (UTC) reply

My theory about Gibraltarian

I think he probably has too much time on his hands - I wouldn't be surprised if he continues to do this 5 years from now. I also believe he is suffering from m:MPOV and that he lacks adequate understanding of WP:V (he claims that his editions represent "the truth") and WP:AGF (he tends to get into flame wars with pretty much everyone who tries to interact with him - not just Ecemaml). Piccies

Hi! Well, perhaps it could be better, but it's most important that you had a great time (I hope!) Don't worry about the Horizon - I don't know whether you have noticed, but we had got a permission from Mr. Stedehouder of the Dutch Garage de'l Est to use all of the car pics from his site, which includes this huge archive. You can find a rather good pic of the Horizon there, and a host of other vehicles (no Spanish cars, though :( ).

As concerns the Ronda, I am afraid most of the sources are probably in Spanish too :( - but I will see about that when I am done with the Fiat 130. Somebody "expanded" it with lotsa POV and I now want to clean it up (I had it on my "due" list anyway) so that I could nominate it for DYK :D But first I have to convince the darn Wayback Machine to work again...

What kind of work do you have that you can do photoediting stuff while "on duty"? ;) When you're finished with the Seville photos, you might consider helping me upload all the goodies from the garage de'l Est to the Commons and insert them to their respective articles :D I also have to figure out where to get a nice Fiat 130 photo from... I have also dumped a lot of stuff to the Chrysler 180 article, but I guess I turned it into a pile of rubbish... Bravada, talk - 21:26, 28 August 2006 (UTC) reply

Hi! I was just wondering whether you have had some time to think about the Chrysler 180 thing - does it pop out sometimes when you press the "random" button? :D Cheers, Bravada, talk - 14:03, 2 September 2006 (UTC) reply

History of Gibraltar

¿Alguna idea? Muchas gracias y un saludo -- Ecemaml 12:36, 29 August 2006 (UTC) reply

He localizado la edición.

Thanks for the warm and encouraging welcome

Wanted to let you know that anyway, so have ventured to ask these questions of you here, as I think invited to do in your welcome.

Question #1: I am using images obtained from http://www.demis.nl/wms/mapclip.htm, but cannot seem to "tag" Template:PD-Demis (i.e., {{PD-Demis}}): I just get a message that the template doesn't exist yet on a page designed to create it. I've copied over the text on the PD-Demis template to my image description, but I of course would like to do it properly and find out what I'm doing wrong.

Question #2: I've made some minor changes (to the 'original' on my computer) to an image after uploading it, and wanted to replace the 'old' image previously uploaded to the Wikipedia site to this new version, but am just told that the image already exists, and to give the image I'm trying to upload a different name. I've read some perhaps old information that I'd be given the option to replace the current image of the same name, or give new a name, but that no longer seems to be the case. If so, what would be the current procedure to change an uploaded image?

Thanks for any help with the above. Jauntymcd 17:57, 29 August 2006 (UTC) reply

Rather than going back and forth between our talk pages, I've added some additional info and a question re: the pd-demis thing to your edit of my user talk page. I hope this works for you. I don't know if you have a way of watching a particular 'edit' section of a talk page, so I thought I'd communicate what I've done to you here. If there's a way of flagging something for your attention at its location, and this is something you'd like, please let me know. I think in the future I'll post questions on my talk page to keep everything in one place, and use the 'help' flag for answers from experienced users/admin'ers generally, also with the purpose of not monopolizing your time particularly. But thanks in advance for your continued help on this particular question. Jauntymcd 19:40, 3 September 2006 (UTC) reply

Guadalajara(s)

Esas decisiones de "primary use", "clearly what most ppl will most probably be looking for", etc. irremediablemente reflejan algún punto de vista; aquí, un PdV que favorece lo angloamericano y lo europeo.

Arbitration request on Kosovo

Dear Editor, since you have been involved in editing the Kosovo article in the last months, and that article has been the subject of long ongoing edit wars, your name is listed in the Request for Arbitration on this matter. You can make a statement here: Wikipedia:Requests_for_arbitration#Kosovo. Due to the large number of editors involved, however, I would to ask you to keep your statement concise and to the point. If you feel you have not been substantially involved in the disputes surrounding the Kosovo article, please do not remove your name from the Arbitration request, but rather make a short statement there explaining why you feel you have not been involved enough to be part it. To understand my reasons for requesting Arbitration, please read my statement on the Requests for Arbitration page. Best regards, Cpt. Morgan (Reinoutr) 10:10, 31 August 2006 (UTC) reply

Thanks for your comment, Asterion. Although I missed your 'official' anouncement to stop editing Kosovo, I figured that much since you were no longer active there. There is no need for everyone to make a statement at the AfD in this case, but I appreciate your explanation on my talk page. I got involved in the Kosovo article with the naive idea that I could mediate a solution, which obviously has proven impossible so far. If this AfD is rejected, I also will leave the article because it simply takes up so much time to keep repeating the same arguments over and over again and it all feels so useless, since no progress is made at all. If the ArbCom agrees and imposes some sort of restrictions on the article and possibly editors, I am willing to give it try to keep working on the article. But this really might be the last thing I am doing on that article. The Kosovo article is clearly one of the few examples where having a wiki as an encyclopedia leads to more trouble than to improvements. Thanks again for all the efforts you made, happy editing! -- Cpt. Morgan (Reinoutr) 20:08, 31 August 2006 (UTC) reply

Joint statement of evidence?

This case is going to be a rather complex one due to the large number of users involved. I would prefer to simplify the evidence-giving stage to make it easier for the Arbitration Committee - how would you feel about giving a joint statement of evidence? I'm happy to make a start on such a statement, which you'd be free to add to or modify as you wish. -- ChrisO 20:36, 1 September 2006 (UTC) reply

I've no much time know, but I disagree, 1st because that are Noviscun ideas and missinterpretation of what he read on that page. When I have time for that know, I'll return later, but you can see my talk on his talkpage, if you understand Spanish and Portuguese, becaause talking in English. I've no problem with Spain disputing the islands, it would make the islands famous. You should be more caareful, and read about it. Hugs.-- Pedro

Thanks for your reply. To be honest I have never heard about the islands before reading wikipedia. I guess the Spanish government is less bothered about them than some wikipedians ;-) After reading this, I understand your point: Spain only disputes the sovereignty over the islets as recognising them as Portuguese would entitle Portugal to an enlarged EEZ. I will remove the tag myself. Best regards, E Asterion u talking to me? 11:03, 2 September 2006 (UTC) reply
Fully comfortable with Islets. And with your interpretation that whether they are islands or islets is the (at least nominal) root of the problem. Of course the true root of the problem is the substantial value of the fishery in the area. Skål - Williamborg (Bill) 15:30, 3 September 2006 (UTC) reply

Advise on Tonycdp?

I'll add it to the statement of evidence. I think there's more than enough evidence of misconduct to justify Tonycdp being blocked for a substantial period for a range of violations, including POV-pushing, sockpuppeting, disruption and making personal attacks. In the meantime, I suggest that you raise it at the Wikipedia:Personal attack intervention noticeboard - since I'm involved in the dispute, I can't take action against him myself. -- ChrisO 12:35, 2 September 2006 (UTC) reply

Please note that the link you provided me with is for a proposed policy, which has not been accepted yet by the Wikipedia community. While I understand your reasons, there is no consensus and I cannot share your opinion. On the other hand, the example provided on the proposed policy page is not about geographical names but of different concepts. Indeed the current Wikipedia:Disambiguation does not discourage the use of disambiguation links for similarly named places, quite the opposite: Most of the examples given for {{Otheruses}} templates show the example For other places with the same name, see. Nonetheless, I will not revert your edits. Regards, E Asterion u talking to me? 22:43, 2 September 2006 (UTC) reply

Program Feature: Barnstar Brigade
Here in Wikipedia there are hundreds of wikipedians whose work and efforts go unappreciated. One occasionally comes across editors who have thousands of good edits, but because they may not get around as much as others, their contributions and hard work often go unnoticed. As Esperanzians we can help to make people feel appreciated, be it by some kind words or the awarding of a Barnstar. This is where the Barnstar Brigade comes in. The object of this program is to seek out the people which deserve a Barnstar, and help them feel appreciated. With your help, we can recognize more dedicated editors!
What's New?
September elections are upon us! Anyone wishing to be a part of the Advisory Council may list themselves as a candidate from 18 September until 24 September, with the voting taking place from 25 September to 30 September. Those who wish to help with the election staff should also list themselves!
Appreciation Week, a program currently in development, now has its own subpage! Share your good ideas on how to make it awesome there!
The Esperanza front page has been redesigned! Many thanks to all who worked hard on it.
Many thanks to MiszaBot, courtesy of Misza13, for delivering the newsletter.
  1. The proposals page has been updated, with some proposals being archived.
  2. Since the program in development Appretiaion week is getting lots of good ideas, it now has its own subpage.
  3. The September 2006 Council elections will open for nominations on 18 September 2006. The voting will run from 25 September 2006 until 30 September 2006. If you wish to be a candidate or a member of the elections staff, please list yourself!
  4. The new Esperanza front page design has but put up - many thanks to all who worked on it!

Hello Asterion,

Err, how am I in an "edit war" with User:Supparluca, who I never had any dealings with before? I edited the article on Bozen, the user changed something, so I reverted it, with or without the revert tool. And I am certainly not getting involved in an edit war by any stretch of the imagination, so maybe you could base your statements better? sincerely Gryffindor 21:59, 21 September 2006 (UTC) reply

Apologies for any misunderstanding. Maybe the wording was not very successful but you have made significant edits indeed [1] [2] in the last few hours, the last one including the use of the administrative revert button which I consider inappropriate. Regards, Asterion talk 22:32, 21 September 2006 (UTC) reply
Reverting links that do not exist or do not lead to an article will be reverted by me, whether I use the revert button or do it manually. I do not see anything "inappropriate" with that, sorry. Gryffindor 11:59, 22 September 2006 (UTC) reply
I have offered User:Supparluca a solution for this specific problem, hopefully it will settle the issue and be acceptable. sincerely Gryffindor 19:04, 22 September 2006 (UTC) reply

Hey, Asterion, I just made a change in the ETA entry putting the latest events in a different -I believe more suitable- context and in the meantime I have lost your reference to El País: don't get me wrong, I'm not saying that it is not useful...it is only that I'm such a dummy editing. From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

I'll add it to the statement of evidence.

Hi Asterion. I have answered your question at Wikipedia:Requests for adminship/JPD - I'd definitely appreciate being able to do moves when I come across them, and so will be glad to help out with backlogs. JPD ( talk) 15:25, 4 September 2006 (UTC) reply

Thanks for your support - the RfA finished at 94/1/0. I hope I will live up to the confidence you have shown in me. JPD ( talk) 16:31, 5 September 2006 (UTC) reply

It looks like... (WARNING: Contains Namco references)

...my page was actually vandalized by a Korean (I checked the "Against Vandalism" page Wikipedia has and clicked WHO IS for that "flying dicks" vandal). The last thing I need is a confession that Hwang Sung Kyung from the Soul Edge series told that guy to vandalize my own userpage, and I don't think Jun Kazama (or Tekken fans of her) would like it very much, either. Has there ever been any Korean vandals on Wikipedia? -- D.F. Williams 17:34, 8 September 2006 (UTC) reply

Sorry, I find your comments hard to follow (I think I'm too old :o)). Maybe it is just someone annoyed with you for any reason or just a random vandal. The IP has been blocked for 48 hours, so you should get some peace. Regards, E Asterion u talking to me? 17:39, 8 September 2006 (UTC) reply

Edit comment linking

I noticed that a while back (22:27, 18 August 2006), you made an edit on rainbow trout with a comment that included a number of helpful links. What exact text/symbols do you use to create such a comment? (For instance, right here I'd like to be able to link directly to the history page of rainbow trout, but I'm not sure how best to do that.) Thanks. ENeville 15:33, 14 September 2006 (UTC) reply

Re Tahir Shah book

Hi Asterion. Thanks for the note. I've just read the review of the book at the amazon link and seems very interesting. I'll definitely wait for a review from your part once you finish it man! -- Szvest 18:34, 14 September 2006 (UTC) reply

Nice to hear that you are off to Germany. I haven't taken a vacation for a long time now! So you are originally from Sevilla but where do you live in the UK. I spent the 2 last years in Manchester and Norwich. -- Szvest 10:59, 15 September 2006 (UTC) reply
Temporary injunction in the Kosovo arbitration

For the duration of this case, any of the named parties may be banned by an uninvolved administrator from Kosovo or related pages for disruptive edits. You are receiving this message because you are one of those covered by this injunction. For the arbitration committee. -- Tony Sidaway 17:51, 15 September 2006 (UTC) reply

Thanks for this. I hope the injuction will help to calm down things. If possible, can you mention it on the Administrator Noticeboard, so someone can keep a close eye?-- Asterion talk 19:07, 15 September 2006 (UTC) reply

Satesclop 18:49, 19 September 2006 (UTC) reply

September Esperanza Newsletter

  5. TangoTango has written a script for a bot that will list new members of Esperanza, which will help those who welcome new Esperanzains greatly!

Although having the newsletter appear on everyone's userpage is desired, this may not be ideal for everyone. If, in the future, you wish to receive a link to the newsletter, rather than the newsletter itself, you may add yourself to Wikipedia:Esperanza/Newsletter/Opt Out List.

Thank you.-- Asterion talk 13:22, 23 September 2006 (UTC) reply

Thank you for reverting that vandalism on my talk page. I talked to User:Supparluca about the issue we had, and he seemed to agree therefore I put in the necessary modifications in the article, so hopefully the issue is settled. I appreciate the attention you give for quality and control on Wikipedia, keep it up and let me know if there is anything I can do for you in return. with kind regards Gryffindor 11:11, 30 September 2006 (UTC) reply

I must congratulate you for the great job you are doing on WP:RQM. You always make thorough researches in order to fundament your positions. I find that much to be appraised. :-) On a related note, I should warn you that Gene is impervious to argumentation that is contrary to his predefined positions. El País Reference

Hey, Asterion, I just made a change in the ETA entry putting the latest events in a different -I believe more suitable- context and in the meantime I have lost your reference to El País: don't get me wrong, I'm not saying that it is not useful...it is only that I'm such a dummy editing. Please feel free to include it in the new context, if you are comfortable with my edit. Thanks. Mountolive 21:07, 27 September 2006 (UTC) reply

Your edit looks perfect to me....yeah, you're right with the "band" thing and ETA is not U2...and the "maximalistic" crap I didn't like it myself at all: you've said it in the perfect terms. Thanks. Mountolive 01:15, 28 September 2006 (UTC) reply

Plazas de soberanía.

Sorry, I only wanted to revert an edition made by Statelscop about the name of Valencia in English. I do not intend to remove your contribs about the Spanish autonomous cities. I'm sorry. -- Joanot Martorell 22:37, 27 September 2006 (UTC) reply

No problem. I thought I had reverted Satlescop's edit myself. Thanks for letting me know. Asterion talk 22:39, 27 September 2006 (UTC) reply
