Selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors (SSRIs) are a class of antidepressants that have been studied most for the treatment of Major Depressive Disorder (MDD) in children and youth. Children/youth treated with SSRIs experienced less severe depression and achieved remission faster than those who were treated with placebo. [1]
