Please be aware that it's considered bad form to tag a new comment onto an old discussion ended 5 years ago. If you want to begin a new discussion about nationality, please open a new discussion at the end of the talk page. But please read all the previous discussions first. Austro-Hungary consisted of two semi-independent kingdoms. Lorre was (1) born within the boundaries of the Kingdom of Hungary, (2) was given a Hungarian name at birth, (3) spoke only Hungarian until after his first film, (4) had a passport issued by the Hungarian Embassy in London, and (5) identified himself as "Hungarian" in nearly every interview he ever gave. It sounds to me like you are completely ignorant of the subject and have done no in depth reading of sources. When you've done that, you'll probably realize how stupid your edits seem to others. And you are being very rude for no particular reason at all claiming something you cannot know, namely that I "never even read a biography" of Lorre - nevermind that you refuse to respond to valid questions - or supply any references for your claims. - I have read more than one biography of Lorre's, and, after all, I did add a reference from a biography (yes, I not only quoted it, I added it some time ago) - something you seem to be unwilling to do, which I find rather puzzling, as you present yourself as a Lorre expert. Also, going by your above comments, I am sorry to say I'm not terribly convinced about your expertise, as you claim that he "spoke only Hungarian until after his first film". What does this mean? The English is rather garbled here. Do you mean to say that after his first film (which one?), he spoke only Hungarian - and where? In films? In private? - Lorre acted in about ten German-language films before 1933 - and in the only film he directed (and acted in), "Der Verlorene", in 1951. Hi, and thank you for your contributions to Wikipedia. It appears that you tried to give Ernst Weiss a different title by copying its content and pasting either the same content, or an edited version of it, into Ernst Weiß. This is known as a " cut-and-paste move", and it is undesirable because it splits the page history, which is legally required for attribution. Instead, the software used by Wikipedia has a feature that allows pages to be moved to a new title together with their edit history.

In most cases, once your account is four days old and has ten edits, you should be able to move an article yourself using the "Move" tab at the top of the page (the tab may be hidden in a dropdown menu for you). This both preserves the page history intact and automatically creates a redirect from the old title to the new. If you cannot perform a particular page move yourself this way (e.g. because a page already exists at the target title), please follow the instructions at requested moves to have it moved by someone else. Also, if there are any other pages that you moved by copying and pasting, even if it was a long time ago, please list them at Wikipedia:Requests for history merge. Hi, thanks for your message! - I tried moving the article first via the "move" tab. That doesn't work. Then I looked aroud a bit and posted a "request move" request plus put the code I found for this on the discussion page - both to no effect at all. After this, the only possibility I could find was the cut + paste (although I do not like this). I've been active here for 10+ years ... and I'm afraid the rules for moving are rather arcane and impracticable (at least, if a straight forward move is not possible (in this case because the target page exists as a redirect page to the page in question - meaning the pages need to be swapped). Anyway, the move should be obvious - just see the German page for the person in question: https://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ernst_Wei%C3%9F_%28Schriftsteller%29 The fact, that his name is spelled "ERNST WEISS" on the photo does not contradict this, as the German letter "ß" has a lower case form only and, in caps, is replaced by "SS". In my view it is not encyclopedic to state such clearly subjective, individual opinions without attributing their holder inline e.g. 'xxx wrote that', 'yyy proposed that'. Before resuming the edit war please take a closer look at MOS:DATETIES and MOS:DATERET. "Articles on topics with strong ties to a particular English-speaking country should generally use the date format most commonly used in that nation" (emphasis mine). If the rule were intended to apply to countries that are not English-speaking, the bolded words would not be there; instead the sentence would read: "Articles on topics with strong ties to the US use MDY, all other articles use DMY". That would be simple enough, but that's not what it says. See archived discussions of the guideline at Wikipedia talk:Manual of Style/Dates and numbers, where editors have agreed again and again on the plain meaning of the wording of MOS:DATETIES: here [1] we read: "Using a connection to a particular county only applies to English-speaking countries". Here [2]: "France is not an English-speaking country, so it doesn't enter into the equation". Similar conclusions are found here [3], here [4], here [5], and here [6]. A change to the rule would require an RFC. For the record, I change MDY dates to DMY when appropriate (recent diffs: [7] [8]]). I think we both have better things to do than continue belaboring this.
