Accreditation of Hellenic/Holy Cross

Are you sure that Holy Cross is not accredited by NEASC? I see Hellenic listed on NEASC's web site as offering Bachelor's and Master's degrees, and I've been taking the latter as referring to Holy Cross. Also, HC's website states that it has NEASC accreditation. Chonak ( talk) 21:25, 3 March 2009 (UTC) reply

I made an edit before I noticed your note on the talk page, I tried to compromise on the wording to stay consistent with the styling standard (from the looks of Boston College, Boston University, Massachusetts Institute of Technology) but also provide insight into the shift away from NEU to NU the school has been undergoing. Hope its agreeable. Jheiv ( talk) 23:41, 12 March 2009 (UTC) reply

I'm not sure its just the university official stance, but rather the actual name of the university. Consider a company who changed its name (I think of Xe). The article into notes "formerly Blackwater Worldwide & Blackwater USA". While it may be true that "everyone" will continue to call the company Blackwater for the immediate future, as that is the name they are most comfortable/ familiar with, Wikipedia does not perpetuate something that is no longer correct just because it is colloquially accepted and used. I don't think there is any question whether the that article should be phrased as it is. As far as I am concerned, placing NEU in the header does it just about as much justice as it deserves, very similiar to the Xe article. Jheiv ( talk) 19:49, 13 March 2009 (UTC) reply

Thanks for checking on the ECSU article!

Saw your comment on the history for Eastern Connecticut State University. I'm not sure I agree that it's NPOV (minus the occasion vandalism), but I do concede on the non-standardization. So I'm going to spend some time this weekend fixing it up. I'd also like to add more sections, like history. Unfortunately, any attempts at finding verifiable history have been...unsuccessful.

I no longer attend the school, but I feel it could be better. I was hoping my re-write two and a half years ago would spark some major additions, but nothing ever came about except minor updates every now and then. Before then, the article was literally a copy of quick facts from the school website. It was horrendous. -- Dymero ( talk) 08:47, 14 March 2009 (UTC) reply

UNE and Westbrook College

Good afternoon,

Thanks for the copy edits and changes/adjustments you made to the history section of the UNE article, and for splitting the Westbrook College section into a new article. Creating a separate article on Westbrook College has been on my to-do list for the past couple of years, but I always seem to get sidetracked by other things on Wikipedia... I'm sure you understand!

Thanks again,

This article was deleted because it provided no context and gave no assertion of notability. In all honesty, it's hard for me to argue either point. The text that existed in full was "Mount Alvernia College, secondary school for girls. With the key Saints of whom our school values. Saint Francis and Saint Claire." That's it, baby. But given the reasons for the article being deleted, I have every reason to believe that an article which provides either context or an assertion of notability in it wouldn't face the same problem. In all honesty, you could recreate the prior article yourself, by just putting the copied text in. But, having seen what was there, I tend to think maybe it might be better to start off from scratch with something rather than trying to use what was there earlier. Call it a hunch. University of Atlanta

First, my excuses for the undo, but we have had recently long discussions about the link, and there have been severe problems with it, the original link giving rise to further abuse. We had a good reason to use this link, which is in any case better than nothing. I do believe that I did give a note with the undo, and that the link was carefully chosen. I am sorry to say, but including a remark '<!-- blacklisted -->' is only going to invite even more vandalism from the SEO push which is ongoing on that article. I do welcome other editors to keep an eye on the article, to improve the contents (much needed), to keep it in a neutral form and free of blatant advertising. As the Filter is now disallowing edits by the SEO group of editors (including the addition or removal of specific data), you might want to keep an eye on the log for the filter.

I hope to see you back on the article soon. As I said on the article, I am considering to use the AbuseFilter to keep the promotional edits out, I am sure I can also use that to keep them from adding the promotional external links that they have been pushing lately. You previously commented at WikiProject Colleges & Universities about the notability of college/university residences and other campus buildings. A RFC has been submitted on the best way to deal with the existence of many Wikipedia articles on residence halls and dormitories at colleges and universities that may not be notable. Your input and feedback would be appreciated at the RFC. Madcoverboy ( talk) 23:21, 28 March 2009 (UTC) reply

Edit

The portion of the article I have attempted to edit/delete is interpretive commentary, rather than fact alone. This issue has been resolved, and no londer reflects a current state of affairs. To continue to carry the content of this section unnecessarily elevates a now peripheral issue, creating a perception no longer based in fact. Nwoodruf ( talk) 10:24, 31 March 2009 (UTC) reply

I meant this to be tongue-in-cheek but reading back over this, I realize that it could be viewed otherwise. I hope I didn't offend you.

I very much appreciate your help with this article and I defer to your experience with WP:UNI disambiguation protocols.

As for your mistake, well, I've done much, much worse -- and hurtful: Wikipedia talk:Requests for adminship/Andypandy.UK. I felt so bad about this afterwards that I declined repeated requests I stand for adminship for a long time until I felt I had a good handle on dealing with the Wikipedia community ( item 3). I still have to work on this even now.

In the many battles over UofA, your stuff was a minor sideshow, trust me! I saw you were possibly a member of the Church of the Nazarenes and had edited bible college articles, so I figured you may have gotten a little burned somewhere along the line by the Wikipedia community's sometimes seemingly hostile (but really, in my opinion, just ignorant) approach to evangelical Christianity.

So welcome to the UofA -- we can take all the help you can give us (starting with any reliable refs for its recent history). -- A. B. ( talkcontribs) 12:29, 31 March 2009 (UTC) reply

AfD nomination of University of Atlanta

An editor has nominated University of Atlanta, an article which you have created or worked on, for deletion. We appreciate your contributions, but the nominator doesn't believe that the article satisfies Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion and has explained why in his/her nomination (see also " What Wikipedia is not").

Your opinions on whether the article meets inclusion criteria and what should be done with the article are welcome; please participate in the discussion by adding your comments at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/University of Atlanta and please be sure to sign your comments with four tildes (~~~~).

You may also edit the article during the discussion to improve it but should not remove the articles for deletion template from the top of the article; such removal will not end the deletion debate. Thank you. A. B. ( talkcontribs) 22:53, 14 May 2009 (UTC) reply

File source problem with File:Eastern Nazarene College Massachusetts.jpg

Thank you for uploading File:Eastern Nazarene College Massachusetts.jpg. I noticed that the file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you did not create this file yourself, you will need to specify the owner of the copyright. If you obtained it from a website, please add a link to the website from which it was taken, together with a brief restatement of that website's terms of use of its content. However, if the copyright holder is a party unaffiliated from the website's publisher, that copyright should also be acknowledged.

If you have uploaded other files, consider verifying that you have specified sources for those files as well. You can find a list of files you have created in your upload log. Unsourced and untagged images may be deleted one week after they have been tagged per Wikipedia's criteria for speedy deletion, F4. Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page.
