Hi, Atrain, Regarding a recent message I just noticed regarding some apparent vandalism on the wiki page for "Chef". I can confidently say that the vandalism did NOT come from my end and the IP has either been spoofed, or by chance somebody has had my IP before and now I've been allocated it. More proof of this is the vandalism, which I noticed was the phrase added to the end of a paragraph, "i love your mom" - I'm Australian, I don't spell that word, short for mother, with an 'o'. Australians spell it with a 'u', "mum".
Just wanting to clear things up, I see wiki vandalism as just childish behaviour and I don't condone it at all. —The preceding

- Thanks for your concern, but don't worry. IP vandalism is dealt with on a short-term case-by-case basis. If everything is working properly, administrators will assume good faith and give IP addresses a blank slate when they come across vandalism from them. I have no desire to "help" E. I haven't voted to support him because I haven't even reviewed the candidate yet, I replied to the opposes because their reasons were clearly invalid. I don't have any particular interest in getting E the mop, but, as someone who likes Wikipedia, I try to encourage people to use more common sense in their votes on RfA. - With all due respect, I don't think you understood the thrust of my comment. Let me put it another way: you're commenting because you feel that the opposers are incorrect in their opposition. If that is your aim, then you're going to find that your m.o. will just make people annoyed with you, and they will entrench themselves in their rationale. It's much easier to change minds with diplomacy than it is with sarcasm.

- Cr8tiv, I'm sorry that you're feeling stressed out. Before I get into anything else, let me clarify that your 3 hour block last week was *not* intended as a punishment. Blocks on Wikipedia are not punitive, and I was only blocking you to give you a chance to walk away and cool down for a bit.
- As for Haizum, I looked through his contributions and the only thing that I can find meeting your description was a perfectly civil contribution to Talk:Billie Jean King, recommending that the trivia section be removed. Wikipedia policy on trivia sections is pretty clear; they are to be avoided whenever possible as they tend not to be encyclopedic. If you feel like Haizum is singling you out for criticism, talk directly to him on his talk page. If it persists, come talk with me again.

That edit is fine and it is good. Tracy Mcgrady and Oliver Miller are not point forwards. That edit didn't violate any policies. Most of Tmacrockets0115's edits are good edits (except for the ones on LeBron James but that is just once and doesn't deserve a block), there are no reasons for Tmacrockets0115 to be blocked this time. - Thanks for getting in touch with me, and I'm sorry for the delay in replying - I'm on Wikipedia very infrequently these days. Tmacrockets0115 has long been a problem editor because 1) he does not communicate with other users, 2) edits contrary to policy despite being warned against doing so, and 3) edit wars with other users.
- Tmac does make good contributions sometimes, I will grant, but many of his edits used to be edit warring with other editors. Much of Tmac's time was spent adding lists of his favorite players to articles under the guise of "notable" player lists, violating
WP:OR,
WP:NPOV and other policies. For more on that, I just wrote yet another explanation of this
here. As a result Tmac makes articles unstable, warring with other editors about who is or is not notable, or in the case of nontraditional positions like
point forward, who even qualifies as a player at that position. Worst of all, every message that I left for Tmac went unanswered. Basically, Tmac wasn't being a productive editor.
The edit that I warned Tmac about was not fine, nor was it good, because of Tmac's history of editing.

- Look, BW, it's been almost a month since I made that warning and I haven't blocked Tmac have I? Answers.com is a mirror of Wikipedia - it says whatever Wikipedia says. Look at the top of the article you linked to. If I write "Tracy McGrady is a duck and likes ponds" in the Tracy McGrady article and it stays in long enough, that will show up in the Answers.com article. I never disputed that Oliver Miller is a center.
- I'm glad that you guys are finding sources again. As long as you all aren't getting into pointless edit wars, you need not worry about anyone being blocked.

Now, I know those are POV and OR and I know they are bad. But when your say that Tmac has created edit wars, don't you people think who also are in those edit wars, they are you people and especially admins, so do not just blame them, also think what you did. - Also: if you're trying to say that Tmac wasn't the only one edit warring, you're absolutely right - he wasn't the only person that I warned or blocked. But *I* am not the one creating the edit war, I was trying to stop it and enforce policy.
- As far as blocking policy is concerned, you are the one who is wrong and frankly, your tone is getting a bit hostile. You and I were never in a content dispute, you were disruptively adding unsourced information and refusing to communicate with other editors. In short, you were being disruptive. I told you that I would block you if you continued, you changed your behavior and I never blocked you. Simple. There is not an administrator on Wikipedia who would find fault with my actions. I am just saying that Mcgrady is a swingman and not a point forward, is there anything not clear about that? Tmac removed those two names because they are not point forwards and not because he doesn't think those two are notable. That edit was good and I am sure anyone will agree with me on that. - Read my answer from 18:18 on July 30th above. The problem is not who is or is not making factual edits, the problem is the way that they're made. Tmacrockets0115 is in the habit of making edits with a) no edit summary and b) no discussion with other editors. Wikipedia is a collaborative project. Tmac makes edits, other editors undo his edits and Tmac makes his edits again. He needs to learn to discuss changes with other editors. Look at every single message I've ever left him. Hey friend, regarding this [4]: a slight correction actually it is in the the Illiad and also found elsewhere in Greek literature that states Patroclus was Achilles' cousin, this is not an invention of Hollywood movies. Their family tree in Greek mythology since ancient times has them related. According to Greek mythology, Achilles and Patroclus are related on their respective paternal sides: Aegina was Patroclus' paternal grandmother, and Achilles' great-grandmother. Therefore, Patroclus was first cousin to Achilles' father Peleus, and Achilles' first cousin once removed. In other ancient Greek stories the two were first cousins and even uncle/nephew: Apollodorus tells us that Patroclus was the son of Menoetius and Polymele, older half sister of Achilles and daughter of King Peleus. Even the Encyclopaedia Britannica states as much in their books and unlike Wiki no one can edit Encyclopaedia Britannica but credible scholars and historians:"According to Homer, Achilles was brought up by his mother at Phthia with his cousin and inseparable companion Patroclus". Also Anthony Bulloch. I've showed you two every related policy and you're still not 100% getting it I don't think.

I acted in good faith by warning a user who I felt had breached WP:NPA, I followed the instructions for warnings at WP:TT. I then acted in good faith by asking for admins' opinions about my use of a template, following that user's deletion of the warning, and his comment in the edit summary. - You're saying, basically, that I have been uncivil to you and as a result you won't participate on AN/I anymore. Let me tackle these in order.
- Firstly, I don't believe that I behaved uncivilly. Frederick Day pointed out how troublesome Husnock and his league of sockpuppets had been, calling him "a crank". I suppose that we could discuss how insulting the term "crank" is, but regardless of that, the term is accurate. Husnock had an injunction passed against him by the arbcom and was the subject of a long discussion on the now-deprecated Community Sanction noticeboard. He escaped a community ban only by "retiring" and spawning a series of sock-puppets. If you feel that I was implying that you were "unqualified", then you're quite right; it was clear from your comments that you were not familiar with the Husnock affair, because it's transparently obvious to everyone else commenting in that AN/I thread that OberRank is another Husnock sock. Your lack of familiarity with the subject matter shouldn't preclude you from participating in the discussion, provided that you keep in mind that you're ignorant of the background materials.
- Secondly, my main objection was to your using a "Welcome" template warning to communicate with an established editor. This is just rude. Would you talk to a long-time employee at your firm and preface a statement with "Look, I know you're new here.."? Would you condescend to give a lecture on school policy to a graduating senior? That's essentially what you did. You can tell me all about what WP:TT told you to do, but WP:TT and Wikipedia policies in general do not exist to trump common sense.
- And that's basically what this is all about: common sense, not the letter of Wikipedia policy. I'm sorry if you feel I've treated you badly, but in reality, all I've done is disagree with your actions and tell you exactly why. I have apologized and been punished by being blocked by you for three hours, which was a punishment I deserved for being childish enouigh to fued with Haizum after being baited about being a Lesbian. He is now watching me and adding comments and general nasty items to my contributions such as Billie Jean King. This is not fair and I feel as if I am being stalked in WIkipedia world. - Cr8tiv, I'm sorry that you're feeling stressed out. Before I get into anything else, let me clarify that your 3 hour block last week was *not* intended as a punishment. Blocks on Wikipedia are not punitive, and I was only blocking you to give you a chance to walk away and cool down for a bit.
- As for Haizum, I looked through his contributions and the only thing that I can find meeting your description was a perfectly civil contribution to Talk:Billie Jean King, recommending that the trivia section be removed. Wikipedia policy on trivia sections is pretty clear; they are to be avoided whenever possible as they tend not to be encyclopedic. If you feel like Haizum is singling you out for criticism, talk directly to him on his talk page. If it persists, come talk with me again.

Fair enough, but ask yourself, why would a man whose first language is plainly not English (his inflections and word choice are mechanical and have a Borat "now I speak English good like fellow American) style and Mr. Haizum history of Wiki edits are mostly political have not really involved American Sports. That edit is fine and it is good. Tracy Mcgrady and Oliver Miller are not point forwards. That edit didn't violate any policies. Most of Tmacrockets0115's edits are good edits (except for the ones on LeBron James but that is just once and doesn't deserve a block), there are no reasons for Tmacrockets0115 to be blocked this time. - Thanks for getting in touch with me, and I'm sorry for the delay in replying - I'm on Wikipedia very infrequently these days. Tmacrockets0115 has long been a problem editor because 1) he does not communicate with other users, 2) edits contrary to policy despite being warned against doing so, and 3) edit wars with other users.
- Tmac does make good contributions sometimes, I will grant, but many of his edits used to be edit warring with other editors. Much of Tmac's time was spent adding lists of his favorite players to articles under the guise of "notable" player lists, violating
WP:OR,
WP:NPOV and other policies. For more on that, I just wrote yet another explanation of this
here. As a result Tmac makes articles unstable, warring with other editors about who is or is not notable, or in the case of nontraditional positions like
point forward, who even qualifies as a player at that position. Worst of all, every message that I left for Tmac went unanswered. Basically, Tmac wasn't being a productive editor.
The edit that I warned Tmac about was not fine, nor was it good, because of Tmac's history of editing.

- Look, BW, it's been almost a month since I made that warning and I haven't blocked Tmac have I? Answers.com is a mirror of Wikipedia - it says whatever Wikipedia says. Look at the top of the article you linked to. If I write "Tracy McGrady is a duck and likes ponds" in the Tracy McGrady article and it stays in long enough, that will show up in the Answers.com article. I never disputed that Oliver Miller is a center.
- I'm glad that you guys are finding sources again. As long as you all aren't getting into pointless edit wars, you need not worry about anyone being blocked.

Therefore, that edit has no problem whatsoever. When I just came to Wikipedia I did not know much about the policies and also created edit wars during the notable sections. Now, I know those are POV and OR and I know they are bad. But when your say that Tmac has created edit wars, don't you people think who also are in those edit wars, they are you people and especially admins, so do not just blame them, also think what you did. Also, once you warned you are going to block me just because I am in a dispute with you and I did communicate on the talk pages. That is just ridiculous. Please read the blocking policy again.

- You seem to be saying that if Wikipedia says that Tracy McGrady is a swingman, that makes it so. I don't need to explain to you why that statement makes no sense, do I?
- Also: if you're trying to say that Tmac wasn't the only one edit warring, you're absolutely right - he wasn't the only person that I warned or blocked. But *I* am not the one creating the edit war, I was trying to stop it and enforce policy.
- As far as blocking policy is concerned, you are the one who is wrong and frankly, your tone is getting a bit hostile. You and I were never in a content dispute, you were disruptively adding unsourced information and refusing to communicate with other editors. In short, you were being disruptive. I told you that I would block you if you continued, you changed your behavior and I never blocked you. Simple. There is not an administrator on Wikipedia who would find fault with my actions. I am just saying that Mcgrady is a swingman and not a point forward, is there anything not clear about that? Tmac removed those two names because they are not point forwards and not because he doesn't think those two are notable. That edit was good and I am sure anyone will agree with me on that. - Read my answer from 18:18 on July 30th above. The problem is not who is or is not making factual edits, the problem is the way that they're made. Tmacrockets0115 is in the habit of making edits with a) no edit summary and b) no discussion with other editors. Wikipedia is a collaborative project. Tmac makes edits, other editors undo his edits and Tmac makes his edits again. He needs to learn to discuss changes with other editors. Look at every single message I've ever left him. Realize that the problem is not one edit, it is his pattern of editing and his style of interacting with others, i.e. not communicating at all. A Train talk 19:38, 2 August 2007 (UTC)

Hey friend, regarding this [4]: a slight correction actually it is in the the Illiad and also found elsewhere in Greek literature that states Patroclus was Achilles' cousin, this is not an invention of Hollywood movies. Their family tree in Greek mythology since ancient times has them related. According to Greek mythology, Achilles and Patroclus are related on their respective paternal sides: Aegina was Patroclus' paternal grandmother, and Achilles' great-grandmother. Therefore, Patroclus was first cousin to Achilles' father Peleus, and Achilles' first cousin once removed. In other ancient Greek stories the two were first cousins and even uncle/nephew: Apollodorus tells us that Patroclus was the son of Menoetius and Polymele, older half sister of Achilles and daughter of King Peleus. Even the Encyclopaedia Britannica states as much in their books and unlike Wiki no one can edit Encyclopaedia Britannica but credible scholars and historians:"According to Homer, Achilles was brought up by his mother at Phthia with his cousin and inseparable companion Patroclus". Also Anthony Bulloch. Dept. of Classics, University of California, Berkeley states the following: "The real Achilles had a close friend, an ‘alter ego’, his cousin Patroclus, who died on the battlefield of Troy wearing Achilles’ armor, while standing in for Achilles as the latter sat out the war in his tent after quarelling furiously with the Greek leader Agamemnon." So as you can see Patroclus and Achilles were cousins is an ancient Greek mythology fact and actually true. - I don't go to Clutch Fans, which sounds like a Rockets fan site (I'm a Nets fan). I have no opinion on whether or not McGrady is a point forward. You and Brave Warrior seem to think that I'm trying to push my opinions over yours; I'm not. I'm trying to keep editors' opinions entirely out of articles. I've showed you two every related policy and you're still not 100% getting it I don't think.

I acted in good faith by warning a user who I felt had breached WP:NPA, I followed the instructions for warnings at WP:TT. I then acted in good faith by asking for admins' opinions about my use of a template, following that user's deletion of the warning, and his comment in the edit summary. - You're saying, basically, that I have been uncivil to you and as a result you won't participate on AN/I anymore. Let me tackle these in order.
- Firstly, I don't believe that I behaved uncivilly. Frederick Day pointed out how troublesome Husnock and his league of sockpuppets had been, calling him "a crank". I suppose that we could discuss how insulting the term "crank" is, but regardless of that, the term is accurate. Husnock had an injunction passed against him by the arbcom and was the subject of a long discussion on the now-deprecated Community Sanction noticeboard. He escaped a community ban only by "retiring" and spawning a series of sock-puppets. If you feel that I was implying that you were "unqualified", then you're quite right; it was clear from your comments that you were not familiar with the Husnock affair, because it's transparently obvious to everyone else commenting in that AN/I thread that OberRank is another Husnock sock. Your lack of familiarity with the subject matter shouldn't preclude you from participating in the discussion, provided that you keep in mind that you're ignorant of the background materials.
- Secondly, my main objection was to your using a "Welcome" template warning to communicate with an established editor. This is just rude. Would you talk to a long-time employee at your firm and preface a statement with "Look, I know you're new here.."? Would you condescend to give a lecture on school policy to a graduating senior? That's essentially what you did. You can tell me all about what WP:TT told you to do, but WP:TT and Wikipedia policies in general do not exist to trump common sense.
- And that's basically what this is all about: common sense, not the letter of Wikipedia policy. I'm sorry if you feel I've treated you badly, but in reality, all I've done is disagree with your actions and tell you exactly why.
