Hello. Although I agree that there's no "confusion" about what degrees of freedom are in statistics, nonetheless I think the article should state that there are two different senses of the word:
(1) and (2) are two different things. Michael Hardy ( talk) 23:33, 12 August 2008 (UTC)
I agree, they are different things. (1) is degrees of freedom. (2) is the parameter of a distribution (up to a factor of 2, the shape parameter of a gamma distribution). It happens that in many applications, the parameter corresponds to the degrees of freedom of certain vectors, and so it is often referred to as degrees of freedom parameter.
Certainly, chi-square and other distributions should be mentioned on this page. But unambiguously, degrees-of-freedom refers primarily to the dimension of vectors.

Hello and welcome to Wikipedia. I noticed that you put up a few articles about NZ lighthouses. You might be interested in joining the WikiProject Lighthouses. Cheers, De728631 ( talk) 13:43, 23 August 2008 (UTC)
With regard to the infoboxes, not sure I agree. Every other page I looked at (that I didn't create) had 'lighthouse' or 'light' in the infobox. Also, since the point/island often has its own page, the distinction seems necessary. -- Zaqrfv ( talk) 14:47, 23 August 2008 (UTC)
.
Since I have no idea where Del Breakwater is, I won't tell you how to name that. Is it in New Zealand? Surprised, since I've never heard of it.
Cape Brett is a geographic feature. Cape Brett Lighthouse is a lighthouse. An Infobox about the lighthouse should include lighthouse in the title.
BTW, De728631, before playing net cop, perhaps you should learn to spell? It's Waipapa, not Waypapa. There is no y in the Māori language.
