Welcome to my talk page. Here you can discuss with me in Greek (Classic, Koine or Modern), French or English. I will answer in the same language that you use to write to me. Yannos 03:00, 12 January 2006 (UTC)
Greetings. The etymology given under
Encyclopedia gives "ἐγκύκλιος παιδεία", which conforms with the ODEE. Now, if I understand correctly, "ἐγκύκλιος" is an adjective here, while "παιδεία" is a noun. My question is: shouldn't there be gender agreement, giving something like "ἐγκύκλια παιδεία"? Or is it the other way around and is "ἐγκύκλιος" a neutrum-plurale noun here modified by the adjective "παιδεία"? Or is this an asyndeton? In the last two cases, the phrase "literally a rounded education" in the article is perhaps somewhat misleading; but what would be a more literal translation? Can you enlighten me? My last educational experience in Classical Greek is some 45 years ago.

Χαίρε, In learning Koine Greek, I am trying to pronounce it as authentically as possible for that time period. There is one word which I am unsure of its pronunciation, being υἱός. I am guessing that it would be pronounced [yˈʝos], seeing that the modern word is γιός, but I am unsure about the pronunciation of υι. Also, the system I am using for pronouncing Greek is outlined in this document: [1] (PDF). Does this system seem to be overall accurate? I read in the Koine Greek article that Η had already merged with Ι by the Koine period, but this system pronounces it as [e], distinct from Ι and Υ. I understand from your userboxes you're interested in Ancient Greek. I've submitted a proposal to add an Ancient Greek Wikisource on Meta, and I'd be very grateful if you could assist me by either voting in Support of the proposal, or even adding your name as one of the contributors in the template. (NB: I'm posting this to a lot of people, so please reply to my talkpage or to Meta) -- Nema Fakei 20:25, 24 May 2006 (UTC)
Hi, do you think you could check the following userboxes for errors:
If possible, could you also make a Template:User ke-4. Thanks. -- Tēlex 14:56, 18 July 2006 (UTC)
Hi Yannos. A cleanup project has been lying stagnant for months due to me "leaving" the wiki. Essentially, it's just standardising some etymologies from ancient Greek - the original contributions were mostly correct but some were transliterated etc. and the whole thing was generally a mess. Would you consider taking on the task? Info is at Wikipedia:Cleanup Taskforce/Greek etymologies. haz ( talk) e 07:18, 12 March 2007 (UTC)
We are the promoters of the Wikipedia in Ancient Greek. we need your help, specially for write NEW ARTICLES and the TRANSLATION OF THE MEDIAWIKI INTERFACE FOR ANCIENT GREEK, for demonstrating, to the language subcommittee, the value of our project.

Hi! How are you? I have noticed that you say in your user page that you speak Ancient Greek and I was wondering whether you could possibly help us revive the Ancient Greek Wikipedia at the Incubator. It would be great if you could lend us a helping hand. Jon Gua ( talk) 14:22, 11 February 2024 (UTC)
