Regarding edits to Te Arawa

Welcome to Wikipedia. Although everyone is welcome to contribute constructively to the encyclopedia, one or more of the external links you added to the page Te Arawa do not comply with our guidelines for external links and have been removed. Wikipedia is not a collection of links; nor should it be used for advertising or promotion. Since Wikipedia uses nofollow tags, external links do not alter search engine rankings. If you feel the link should be added to the article, please discuss it on the article's talk page before reinserting it. Please take a look at the welcome page to learn more about contributing to this encyclopedia.

Your edit here was reverted by an automated bot that attempts to remove unwanted links and spam from Wikipedia. If you were trying to insert a good link, please accept my creator's apologies, but note that the external link you added or changed is on my list of links to remove and probably shouldn't be included in Wikipedia.
The external links I reverted were matching the following regex rule(s): rule: 'tripod\.com' (link(s): http://whaoa.tripod.com/) . If the external link you inserted or changed was to a blog, forum, free web hosting service, or similar site, then please check the information on the external site thorougly. Note that such sites should probably not be linked to if they contain information that is in violation of the creators copyright (see Linking to copyrighted works), or they are not written by a recognised, reliable source. Linking to sites that you are involved with is also strongly discouraged (see conflict of interest).
Please read Wikipedia's external links guideline for more information, and consult my list of frequently-reverted sites. For more information about me, see my FAQ page. Thanks! SquelchBot ( talk) 23:57, 30 January 2008 (UTC) reply

Hello. Concerning your contribution, Ngati Whaoa, please note that Wikipedia cannot accept copyrighted text or images obtained from other web sites or printed material, without the permission of the author(s). This article or image appears to be a direct copy from http://whaoa.tripod.com/sitebuildercontent/sitebuilderfiles/whaoa.pdf. As a copyright violation, Ngati Whaoa appears to qualify for deletion under the speedy deletion criteria. Ngati Whaoa has been tagged for deletion, and may have been deleted by the time you see this message.

If you believe that the article or image is not a copyright violation, or if you have permission from the copyright holder to release the content freely under the GNU Free Documentation License (GFDL) then you should do one of the following:

  • If you have permission from the author, leave a message explaining the details at Talk:Ngati Whaoa and send an email with the message to "permissions-en (at) wikimedia (dot) org". See Wikipedia:Requesting copyright permission for instructions.
  • If a note on the original website states that re-use is permitted under the GFDL or released into the public domain leave a note at Talk:Ngati Whaoa with a link to where we can find that note.
  • If you own the copyright to the material: send an e-mail from an address associated with the original publication to permissions-en(at)wikimedia(dot)org or a postal message to the Wikimedia Foundation permitting re-use under the GFDL, and note that you have done so on Talk:Ngati Whaoa.

However, for textual content, you may simply consider rewriting the content in your own words. Thank you. -- Finngall talk 22:05, 8 May 2008 (UTC) reply

Please do not remove maintenance tags placed by other editors without either explaining the deletion or addressing the concerns raised by them. Wikipedia is a collaborative process -- no single editor can "own" an article. I'm hardly an expert on the subject--neither the current abbreviated text or the previous copyright-violation version provide enough context or background for someone who's stumbling into the subject for the first time. (Case in point: I applied the {{ Maori-stub}} tag in part to call the attention of folks who are knowledgeable about Maori culture, but I had to do some searching around to be sure that this related to the Maori at all before doing so.
Please read Wikipedia's Manual of Style and the guidelines on citing sources. I'd also like to point you to the fine folks at WikiProject New Zealand, a group of editors who specialize in New Zealand-related article. I'm no expert on NZ, but I do know a thing or two about policy, and I'll happily answer further questions. Take care. -- Finngall talk 00:34, 9 May 2008 (UTC) reply
