This account has been blocked indefinitely from editing Wikipedia because your username, WaikatoUniversity, does not meet our username policy.

Your username is the only reason for this block. You are welcome to choose a new username (see below).

A username should not be promotional, related to a "real-world" group or organization, misleading, offensive, or disruptive. Also, usernames may not end in the word "bot" unless the account is an approved bot account.

You are encouraged to choose a new account name that meets our policy guidelines. Alternatively, if you have already made edits and you wish to keep your existing contributions under a new name, then you may request a change in username by:

  1. Adding {{ unblock-un|your new username here}} on your user talk page. You should be able to do this even though you are blocked, as you can usually still edit your own talk page. If not, you may wish to contact the blocking administrator by clicking on "E-mail this user" on their talk page.
  2. At an administrator's discretion, you may be unblocked for 24 hours to file a request.
  3. Please note that you may only request a name that is not already in use, so please check here for a listing of already taken names. The account is created upon acceptance, thus do not try to create the new account before making the request for a name change. For more information, please see Wikipedia:Changing username.
If you feel that you were blocked in error, you may appeal this block by adding below this notice the text {{ unblock|Your reason here}}, but you should read our guide to appealing blocks first.

Thank you for your email. Please read WP:ORGNAME, which explains why it is not appropriate for you to have a username representing a university. If you wish to be unblocked, please follow the instructions in the message above.- gadfium 19:28, 11 November 2010 (UTC) reply

You can paste an unblock message on this page. You will need to be logged in to this account, not edit as an anon.- gadfium 19:15, 13 November 2010 (UTC) reply

You may feel that I am being over-fussy, and that may indeed be so; in your requested new name I have no clue what the "ce" stands for, but I suspect that "uow" is University of Waikato". It is better if you choose a name which bears no relationship at all to your personal situation or to your intended edits. -- Anthony Bradbury "talk" 22:30, 14 November 2010 (UTC) reply

{{helpme}} Hi Stephen, thank you for unblocking me. I am just unsure if it worked as I can still login with the old username... Have I missed anything? —Preceding unsigned comment added by WaikatoUniversity ( talkcontribs) 19:42, 18 November 2010 (UTC) reply

That is because of the unified login feature. Your old account was autocreated on another project and when you came back here, your old account was recreated. I'll block your old name again, just use the new name from now on. Regards So Why 20:35, 19 November 2010 (UTC) reply

Many thanks! It's all working now. Kuboff ( talk) 20:25, 21 November 2010 (UTC) reply
