UPDATE - I was pretty upset when the article was deleted, so I wanted to take some time, do more research into Wikipedia protocols and speak to others who’ve posted before. Being new Wikipedia, this was my first contribution and didn't work like I thought it would...I adopted 2 kids from foster care 7 years ago and have seen, first hand, the "effects of domestic violence" as they are currently called on Wikipedia. While taking a class this semester in social welfare, I thought instead of doing some project that only my teacher sees that will mean nothing, I would add my research & work to Wikipedia instead to help others everywhere understand what I've seen firsthand and understand more than most. Somehow my "rookie" status and asking some others who think it’s an important issue to give their opinion on Wikipedia blew up into something else. I get that being new to this and not really knowing all the ropes, I maybe missed something. But it’s really disappointing that worked against bringing to light an important issue that no one really knows or cares about that harms so many lives. I feel no one really understood the article’s true purpose, that this is a thing (Childhood Domestic Violence) – separate from other things like child abuse or domestic violence – that affects so many children and continues to affect them greatly as adults. That it needs to be treated and understood as a thing before it can be fixed. The DzEffectsdz article doesn’t even come close to making that clear and also falls short of my research, sources, and all the content. People don’t get it, don’t understand that if you grow up in a home like that, even if you’re not personally abused, it can cripple your life. They just clump it with other things like child abuse or brush it off...as long as the child wasn’t hit, it’s no big deal. Not true. And I’m passionate about helping others understand that. Have you adopted a troubled teenager at 14 that at 18 decides to not pay for some drugs and ends up getting a hit put out on your 6 yr old daughter because of it? I feel as though this article was misunderstood and not properly consider WMCproofreader ( talk) 13:13, 5 April 2016 (UTC) reply
