Merges of List of people by name pages should be done in the way that minimizes the hiding of history beneath the resulting redirects. (And an analogous, but more nuanced, principle applies to splits.) In the case of merging Kv thru Kz into Kv and then renaming Kv to Kv-Kz, the 4 Kw names' history is buried in the Kw redirect's history. It can of course be retrieved by a clear-thinking user, and yes, some history has to be hidden, but consolidating into Kw and renaming it instead of Kv would have hidden only 20% of the names' histories instead of 100%. Not a big deal, but the Kw choice would have eventually saved confusion for the least sophisticated users who go looking for histories. Tnx for your attention. -- Jerzy (t) 17:32, 2004 Apr 1 (UTC)
"Earnest" was spelled correctly in the virtual history article: "earnest" with an 'a' is the adjective, "Ernest" without an 'a' is the name. -- Paul A 03:49, 3 Apr 2004 (UTC)
(PS. wandering off the topic: It says on your user page, I noticed on the way here, that you're responsible for the wiki's current handling of self-links. Thank you for that; it's a valuable contribution.)
Timwi, the mitsubishi group articles are a huge and complex system or interrelated companies and concepts. Mitsubishi is a recognized brand worldwide, and many companies share the name. Yet Mitsubishi Heavy Industries Inc. is not Mitsubishi, not in the sense that Boeing Corp is Boeing. I would appreciate an effort at a return to the previous status, since it took me many hours to figure this all out. Thanks in advance. Christopher Mahan 09:26, 4 Apr 2004 (UTC)
I wanted to keep the m:Extension Syntax/Example page as simple as possible. Perhaps, compare with example we can found in Wikipedia, the math example is a big one, but hiero is small one and music is a tiny one (real score take several lines). If you think, the math is "too" long, just replace the example with a smaller one, but I'd like you remove your comment witch make the page more complex to read. Aoineko 10:25, 6 Apr 2004 (UTC)
This is what I found in the Wikipedia:Deletion log. It seems nothing can be taken for granted these days, not even the seven day period and of course the discussion on VfD. All our sophisticated rules won't work if sysops abuse their power in that way. I have posted that message on the Village pump, too. <KF> 20:14, 7 Apr 2004 (UTC)
Do you think the Defective redirects page is obsolete because:

Good job removing it, you were correct in reference to its stated source.
The website from which it was taken, takes its images from a site called al-islam.org whose image use policy states that non-commercial educational websites may use these images if they name them as the source. Which I have done on the image, as such - I wish to restore the image to the article. -- OldakQuill 15:17, 19 Apr 2004 (UTC)
Good job on the sound clips, they sound great. Two languages done, a bajillion more to go :) In case you feel like doing some more pronunciation work, here are a couple more pages that I was thinking about:

for fixing all those double redirects I made :S Cheers, Sam Spade 22:30, 26 Apr 2004 (UTC)
Please do not remove accent marks from Russian words. The character ́ (U+0301) is "combining acute accent" (maybe your browser does not display it correctly?). It is important to know the place of accent in Russian! — Monedula 17:39, 27 Apr 2004 (UTC)
Your "fix double redir" bot is doing good stuff. If you want to make it its own name, I'd be willing to sponsor it for a bot flag - just talk to Angela/Anthère/Mav/TimStarling on IRC to get the flag set. Pakaran . 21:30, 27 Apr 2004 (UTC)
Hi, yes, I still plan on doing them, thanks for the friendly reminder :) It's just that I've been busy with end of the semester things. You go right ahead, don't feel as if it has to be done alphabetically :) Dori | Talk 16:26, Apr 29, 2004 (UTC)
Hello, why did you move Cerebrovascular accident to Stroke? My impression is that stroke is rather colloquial term. Sure, we should use a popular common name but "cerebrovascular accident" is so minor? -- Taku 05:43, Apr 30, 2004 (UTC)
Why did you think the article was named something other than stroke before?
I will restore the title of article to what it was before unless you still disagree, which I suspect, so let's go to the talk page of stroke and keep discussing or voting process. -- Taku 14:50, Apr 30, 2004 (UTC)
