Issue VI - April 2013 |
Open Help Conference The Open Help Conference will be taking place June 15-19 in Cincinnati Ohio, USA. The conference includes two days of presentations and open discussions, followed by team "sprints" - collaborative efforts to write and improve documentation. It has been suggested to send a team from Wikipedia/Wikimedia: to share our own knowledge about help, learn from others in the open source community working on similar problems, and to carry out a sprint to improve some aspect of Wikipedia's help. There may be support available for volunteers to attend from the Participation Support program (and your editor is certainly hoping to be there!) Please join the discussion in Meta's IdeaLab if you're interested, and/or have suggestions about what we could work on. |

Hi. Regarding
this edit, you're close, but you actually wanted to substitute this template (e.g., {{subst:Wikipedia:Newsletter...}}
). Talk page messages are usually substituted to preserve how they looked when they were posted, but more importantly, archive bots won't be able to "see" the timestamp from that template, making those talk posts unable to be automatically archived. EdwardsBot takes whatever content you give it and posts it exactly, so if you set up the /Spam page with ~~~~~ and such, that should expand just fine when EdwardsBot runs. Not a big deal, but good to know for future newsletter deliveries. I hope you're well. --

Hi, Pete. I noticed your comment at Help talk:Searching#Page fork. I'm trying to improve the article Intro. and organization (WP search and Google search info. was all jumbled together), and have run into what appears to be ownership issues. As you noticed, the "owner" has even proposed forking or moving the page—presumably so that he can retain total ownership. I have listed it at WP:3O, but would appreciate other eyes. Hey The wub; Kaldari has finished scripting a set of potential replacements available to test and give feedback on. Please go to this thread for more detail on how to enable them. Okeyes (WMF) ( talk) 15:29, 7 May 2013 (UTC)
Hi, this is just a reminder that you have previously signed up for the Lua on Wikimedia event taking place at Wikimedia UK office this Sunday. The plan is to start at 10am, but I should be around to let you in from 9-ish. See you then! -- Katie Chan (WMUK) ( talk) 10:39, 17 May 2013 (UTC)
The Wikimedia UK AGM will be held in June, and nominations for the UK Wikimedian of the Year are currently open. If there is someone who you feel has made an important contribution to the UK Wikimedia movement in the last year please go ahead and nominate them here by 09:00 (BST) on Monday 20th May at the latest.
