Sing "Yesterday" for Me start date

Hello Tewi193. Look, I don't want to start an edit warring in the article, so I will try to explain the point I want to make here (basically just repeating what I wrote before). Sing "Yesterday" for Me began in Business Jump #1 of 1998, which you can see here. The COVER DATE (which is not the actual release date nor something like the "official" date) is January 1, 1998, but the table of content of that issue ( here) explicitly states at the bottom that the next issue would be released on December 15, 1997 (次号は 12月15日月発売!). If the issue was actually released in January 1998, it makes absolutely no sense that they had announced that next issue would be released in December 1997 and Shueisha obviously doesn't print and launch a magazine with over 300 pages on the same date featured on its cover. To further elaborate my point, check this issue of 2011, whose cover date is January 1, 2011, but is stated that it was actually released on December 1, 2010. The magazine released 24 issues a year (on the 1 and 15 of every month) and the first two issues of a certain year were released in December of the previous year that the cover of the magazine shows. The official website and the Japanese Wikipedia say that the series began in 1998, based on the issue where it began which effectively is the first issue of 1998, but that doesn't mean that the issue was actually released in 1998. You can check the same thing with most (if not all) monthly manga magazines. Check for example here, where is stated that the January 2022 issue of Ultra Jump was released on December 18, 2021.

Personally, I have nothing against using cover dates in the articles, in fact, I prefer to use them when I can't find any reliable source that can confirm the actual release date of a series or the issues where it began/finished, but if there is enough evidence that at least can confirm the actual release year, that is more preferable than just using the cover date as reference. I hope I have made myself clear. Cheers.

P.S. Here is the issue #24 of 1997, and its TOC says that the next issue (that is #1 of 1998) would be released on December 1, 1997. - Xexerss ( talk) 19:01, 6 May 2022 (UTC) reply
