Personal blog on Shaniwarwada

Hi Sunshinde,

There seems to be general consensus that putting an external link to your travelogue on Shaniwarwada is inappropriate for an encyclopedia. This is Wikipedia policy (see WP:LINKSTOAVOID), and in general we'd want to avoid linking to non-authoritative websites. Your insertion has been reverted three times thus far!

I'm sure you can integrate any information and photographs from your blog into the article directly, where we can all work on it, find references and build up a really great article. Releasing those photographs will also give us a ton of photographs for many Wikipedia articles, including Shaniwarwada, Peshwe, and Narayan Peshwa.

Hi Sunshinde, this is starting to get a little tiring. I've just removed a link to your blog from the article Pratapgad, which you added earlier today. If there is a reason why your blog would be significant in an encyclopedia article (if your blog is the definitive blog on Pratapgad or Shaniwarwada, for instance), please let me know and I'll put the links back in myself. As far as I can tell, your blog just has photographs of your experiences at Pratapgad, Shaniwarwada, and so on - very interesting from a travelogue perspective, but not appropriate, in my opinion, in an encyclopedia article. As I've said above, I'd love it if the "stories" on your blog, properly cited, could be added to the appropriate Wikipedia articles, but I don't see the significance of your personal blog as a reference or resource.
A quick look (a very quick look, so forgive me if I'm wrong here) through your contributions on Wikipedia ( available here) seems to show that the only contributions you make is to add links to your blog onto articles, which are promptly removed. Can I implore you not to waste your time and ours doing this? There are lots of substandard articles on Wikipedia, which can be quickly improved (look though the stub categories list and the Wikipedia WikiProject Maharashtra TODO list for ideas), and I'm sure someone with your writing ability and photographs can make a real contribution.
Looking forward to some good contributions from you, Gaurav ( talk) 09:34, 29 August 2008 (UTC) reply
Hi Gaurav.
Authorative? You would think Heordotus has authorrity over Egypt? Inspite of being the "father of history", here is what wikipedia says
"There are many cases in which Herodotus, not certain of the truth of a certain event or unimpressed by the dull "facts" that he received, reported the several most famous accounts of a given subject or process and then wrote what he believed was the most probable"
I will not debate you. I am not in this for debate. I travel because I like to. And I write because I like to. I read a lot before I travel. And I observe well. I raise questions. To myself.
People have appreciated it in the past. The articles on Shaniwarwada and Sinhagad have driven real foot traffic to the site. and I do not mean website. The same people have left comments on the blog. ( http://travel.sunilshinde.com check the recent comments on the left). The site is non commercial. I am not selling anything. There are no ads.
For the longest time, I was not aware of the policy. Now, that I am, I do not see why I should push myself on wikipedia. Though, I do want wiki to be aware, that one does not need a Ph.D to observe. I love the articles on wiki, though they do not help me travel. What I write on my blog is original. If it does not make sense, so be it. feel free to connect with me I am sunils attherate aditi dot com. That is my most frequently used email address.
