I think you guys take this policing stuff a bit too far. I *will* admit I was creating a half-joke article ("Jay the Fat"), but it was going to be backed up with some legit sources. The character is from a lengthy computer game saga I created a while ago, and though it's not on store shelves, there is a community built around it and I intend on Wiki-ing that as well. Obviously I am very new to this all. My point in this ramble is that I was writing my first article and experimenting (I guess I should've used the sandbox) a lot, and within 2 minutes of saving the article originally (which was incomplete) it was already flagged for deletion. Then even after I added "hangon" to it since I wasn't even close to done with it, it was gone within another minute. You didn't even give it a chance. You probably just saw it involved POOPY and figured I was some immature kid.
Dude, I understand it's fun having power, but relax. This seems like an excellent and very fun online community, and I realize there is a great potential for people to abuse and vandalize. However, I feel there's a difference between being a "Wikipedia new page police officer" and being a "Wikipedia Nazi." ArcanePathos 18:26, 26 April 2007 (UTC) ArcanePathos

I see you added some sort of dbcorp tag to an article I just made? I also see you are a patrol officer of sorts? I wonder if you think I am some sort of ad maker? I only made an article about a youth hostel I just stayed in recently. I have no connection financially to this hostel. Thanks... any questions? :) Nesnad 19:51, 11 June 2007 (UTC)
Yes, please be careful with no note deleting. I've suffered that a few times recently or related pain (specifically with a large batch of pictures that were legally uploaded but with apparently wrong tags, which resulted in mass deletion which damages my reputation). Why isn't this notable? Just because you don't know it doesn't mean many others don't. I request the removal of this tag as I respectfully claim it to be close minded. Thank you. (PS. its late here, I'm going to bed for now, but will reply to you when I can, thanks.) Nesnad 20:17, 11 June 2007 (UTC)
Sorry if I sound annoyed, but I am. People are already responding to your trigger-happy tagging. Someone just cited some thing like a violation of WP:CORP when you yourself said it wasn't. You need to be big enough inside to recognize your mistake and leave a comment regarding it, and to remove your tag. I have provided sources for two books which list this hostel. Many wikipedia articles don't even have one book for a source. This article is noteworthy and if you cling to the argument that you are only trying to "help" I must wonder if you are a new generation wikipedia vandal. Are you out to tag and kill information or help it grow? Nesnad 02:55, 12 June 2007 (UTC)
Hello Shadowlynk, I am just replying to the message you sent me about ym westdrift article. Could you please futher explain why you want to delete it? I made sure to follow all the rules and put lots of info and history into the article which I was going to build on as more things happened. It wasn't (atleast it wasn't meant to be) advertizing or anything and was not a biased article either. I used no copywrited material.
Thanks, Doadrift 10:29AM Friday 15 June 2007
So how would I get notability? I feel things the club have done have been historic for drifting in this part of the country and I feel thats something worth noting? I read what it said but I dont quite understand what it means. Is there any way I could fix the article so that it could stay? - Doadrift 3:50pm 20th June 2007

I was noted after a "speedy deletion" and told I was to come here, I don't wish to defend my first article and i don't mind it being taken off of the site completely due to it's lack of relevance etc. I know i should've at least given it a second thought, I don't really know why I posted it maybe I'm tired, anyway, I'm sorry if it's caused you any trouble and I'll wait until I have something worth writing down before I submit another anything else. I'll make sure to use the sandbox next time.

Hello, and thank you for contacting me. I've laid out justifications for article retention in the talk section of S.K. Thoth. I'm inexpierienced at creating Wikipedia articles, but bear with me, I learn quickly. Can you point me to where I can learn how to capitalize the subject itself? It currently lists as S.k. thoth, and I'd like it to read S.K. Thoth. DesScorp 06:33, 30 June 2007 (UTC)
Shadowlynk,
This may no longer be relevant, as the message I received is dated April 24, 2007, but I only just received an alert to the message (?!). Anyway, I would like to contest the speedy deletion of Smartwool, as I believe it meets the standards for a company. Please let me know what I can do to correct the problem, if there is one. I'm guessing that this is actually some sort of artifact from when I first made the page and did not correctly cite any secondary sources, but I would like to make sure.

I tagged it as a "stub" thereby requesting that other editors add information, not delete the article. The "Fire the Grid" prediction/theory/rumor has been around for almost a year, and is comparable in scope to the 1987 Harmonic Convergence theory. Googling "Fire the Grid" comes up with about 2,960,000 results (granted, many of those involve fire and grid but not fire the grid). A Wikipedia article about something which is significant, widely-known, and easily verified and sourced, was 'speedily deleted' at your urging. Jovriel 03:19, 17 July 2007 (UTC)
I recently removed a speedy delete tag that you had placed on Agent lenny banks. I do not think that Agent lenny banks fits any of the speedy deletion criteria because this is about a movie, not a peson, so A7 does not apply. it was poorly written so that was less than obvious. shadowlynk, when you catch a bio that asserts that someone is a prostitute, or something of the sort, which should certainly be deleted, it's probably even better to delete it via speedy A10, attack page (db-attack), as there is almost always somebody keeping an eye on that group of speedies, and deleting them immediately. You can also blank the page as well, but they go so quickly that it may not really be necessary. thanks for the patrolling!! DGG ( talk)

Please don't assume any of my edits are motivated by issues. My removal of vandalism from an article does not necessarily reflect my approval or disapproval of the subject of the article or the opinions expressed in the vandalism. It just means that inserting blatant opinion in a Wikipedia article is against the rules, a very bad way of getting your voice heard, and a good way to add another hilarious overreaction to my ever growing collection. :) -- Shadowlynk ( Talk) 22:04, 22 July 2007 (UTC)
Hello,
Yliyah613 was inserting info about a man that the Laredo news stations(Univision 27, Laredo Times) keep interviewing concerning why the border town is experiencing the extreme decay of law and order.
I thought it was notable that sheriff Rick Flores of Webb County has been on national news stations defending his position there.
This man, Willam Crouse is all over the news there and the name of this program that he teaches(The Character Connection) keeps popping up around here in Laredo actually he really created a stir in a recent radio station when he told the DJ Nuclear War would begin around June 12 2007, wow you should of heard the DJ on that one.
Oh well...just thought it might be as notable on Wikipedia as it is here in This ravaged border town.
Thanks, Yliyah613, 7/23/2007

Dear Sir: With all due respect, I do not believe that the article I have submitted is an essay. It is rather a compilation of data that is not readily available anywhere and should be at at a website that leads information at the present time which is Wikipedia where everyone goes to obtain updated and comprehensive information. This "free information media" is probably the one that will be most affected by the issues that are being dealt with in this compliation of data -unless this is an issue of cybercontrol itself. If it is not, I certainly do believe that you will be doing a disservice to all persons involved. As John Walker states in "The Digital Imprimatur": Universal access to the internet would provide counteractive force against centralization and concentration in government and mass media acting to limit freedom of expression and unrestricted access to information. The information readily available now is incomplete, altered, fractioned and without continuity achieving its real purpose which is confusion. I would appreciate your assistance in anway possible such that this information is readily available to the millions of users worldwide.-- Jhvmdpa 21:17, 27 August 2007 (UTC)

The Wikipedia:Deletion_policy clearly states that a reason for content delition includes "content that does not belong in an encyclopedia".
Wikipedia:What_Wikipedia_is_not also clearly states that Wikipedia is not a blog, webspace provider, social networking, or memorial site. It goes further with Specifically, this policy states "Wikipedians have their own user pages, but they may be used only to present information relevant to working on the encyclopedia". Also applicable, WP:NOT#USER and WP:UP#NOT... User:Wikimina is violating all of these policies by using their user page as non-relevant-to-Wikipedia information specifically pertaining to the some HCI course. This content is more appropriate on their university webspace, or a free web host, not wikipedia. This user was informed of the policy on 23 Aug and on 27 Aug was suggested that they use alternative venues. Despite this, they have continued to this inappropriate use of Wikipedia's user pages. 12.226.82.118 03:55, 30 August 2007 (UTC)

Hi, my article was deleted under the context that it too much resembled an advertisment. I had requested some more time, as I was not finished editing it and felt I could have improved the article up to Wikipedia standards, however it was deleted anyway. Is there anyway I could retrieve the article so I can continue working on it? Additionally, I am having trouble creating an article which Wikipedia deems as non-promotional; my articles have been straight to the point factual, yet still get deleted.Thanks. While I admit that I didn't state any verifiable sources, simply doing a Google search on "fountain of tyr" (with quotes) will provide a few references to it, and I think that in itself proves there is some validity to the entry in Wikipedia. I also think it's safe to assume that if the entry stays, someone with a verifiable reference in a book or encyclopedia will post the reference to it. —Preceding unsigned comment added by SuicideTaxi ( talk • contribs) 08:23, 28 September 2007 (UTC)

She has had three singles, one of which featured MYA, a huge superstar. Greetings, Shadowlynk. You picked up the article Edmund Hoyle Vestey at some point and left a notice of speedy deletion tag [1] and a comment [2] on the author's talk page. I removed the speedy tag from the article as I recognised the name as being that of somebody who was a member of one of the most notable families of the 20th century, which created and owned one of the biggest meat trading companies in the world and was one of the wealthiest families in the world (second only to the Queen here in the UK). I guess that the author was both inexperienced (fewer than 200 edits) and was writing it from scratch, and had not got very far when Icarus3 placed the tag 14 minutes after the author started the article. Anyway, I picked it up a few hours later (he had placed a hangon tag on it) and have expanded it. I may do a little more work on it but I trust that it is adequate for now. Kind regards. -- Malcolmxl5 ( talk) 13:23, 8 December 2007 (UTC)

- Doadrift 3:50pm 20th June 2007
ok thank you very much for the help! I'll see what I can find. Doadrift 04:37, 22 June 2007 (UTC)

Thank you,

I did as you said, and put the hangon thing there, and the explanation on the Talk page. Sorry if this sounds a bit pointless, but like I said, this is my first time doing this so I don't know the proper etiquette. Davidk92 22:20, 6 July 2007 (UTC)
I have used prod . DES (talk) 23:42, 18 July 2007 (UTC)

I'm sorry, but this is the second time my page has been deleted, and I don't understand why this is so. This is a really movie, and a lot of work was put into it. Could you please explain to me the reason it is continually deleted? Thank you. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Triple6AndA13 ( talk • contribs).
shadowlynk, when you catch a bio that asserts that someone is a prostitute, or something of the sort, which should certainly be deleted, it's probably even better to delete it via speedy A10, attack page (db-attack), as there is almost always somebody keeping an eye on that group of speedies, and deleting them immediately.

On top of that, RockMFR is now an administrator, so he's been handling many of the speedy deletions tonight. Yes, Wikipedia is now a hangout for semi-retired GameFAQs users. Are you still around on GF much? -- Spring Rubber 07:16, 15 August 2007 (UTC)

Saracity123 09:00, 7 September 2007 (UTC)
Hi. So I reviewed Wikipedia's critera and better applied those policies to my article. I have posted it in my userpage and believe I have a completely neutral and verifiable article. Could you direct me where to go next? Thanks. Saracity123 07:43, 9 September 2007 (UTC)
Thanks very much, I will give that a try. I really appreciate your help. As I am new to writing for Wikipedia, I am now beginning to understand the process and will be able to create articles much more efficiently in the future. 69.200.93.50 22:30, 9 September 2007 (UTC)

I'm new to WikiEditing, so I'm not completely sure why you tagged and deleted my page of the same name, "Surreal Twilight." It was a starter page so that people on my site could add to it and complete it. I go out for a couple of hours and then there's a speedy deletion tag on it. I spent three hours writing and researching that, and I'm not particularly happy about it's deletion. At least tell me why you got rid of it.

I know that you tagged the Lance and Chuck Showpage. it is now down. There is another page just like it. "the Lee W. Mowen Show" is a show on the same station. It has even less content. You deleted my entry on the "Fountain of Tyr" stating it as "nonsense", when in fact it's far from nonsense.

I made a article about a artist signed to a huge record company, who has released two official music videos, just like Beyonce, Justin Timberlake etc do. She has had three singles, one of which featured MYA, a huge superstar. If you looked at the sources it would have been seen, I also spent time creating it. gave sources, but obviously they were not looked at. it really isnt fair.
I might be banned also, I was trying to help. By getting all these famous people a profile on here.
If a music artist has a record deal, atleast three songs out there, and videos, and a little bit of media hype, doesnt that mean it is okay? I'm just a little confused now. Raintheone 20:54, 13 October 2007 (UTC)

I am to author of the article, biography, his website, and I am his wife. We (Patrick Norman & myself) own all of the rights (all right reserved et al.)for any and all things relating to his projects "Patrick Norman" and "Patrick Norman Music". As an owner and founding member of the band "Rusted Root", Patrick Norman also owns all copyrights (all right reserved, et al.) pertaining to his band Rusted Root. This article was created to give readers an accurate biography of Patrick Norman, not only as a solo artist, but also a current member of Rusted Root. I'm declining to speedy delete the article Everette Harp. It doesn't meet the standards of blatant advertising GSD#G11 in my opinion. There are problems with the article, tone among others, but I suspect good sources can be found to support an article on this guy. Actually I'm more concerned with biographies of living persons in this case. Still, if you want to PROD it or take it to AfD, be my guest. I just don't think it meets any speedy criteria. How can companies like mine, have the articles here??? I was trying to write the similar content that was on their pages.
How come a company like Sage, has it's own site and site about the product. And all those information there. Isn't that also advertising?
