Image:Kkbday.jpg listed for deletion

Dear uploader: The media file you uploaded as Image:Kkbday.jpg has been listed for speedy deletion because you selected a copyright license type implying some type of restricted use, such as for non-commercial use only, or for educational use only or for use on Wikipedia by permission. While it might seem reasonable to assume that such files can be freely used on Wikipedia, a non-profit website, this is in fact not the case. Please do not upload any more files with these restrictions on them, because content on Wikipedia needs to be compatible with the GNU Free Documentation License, which allows anyone to use it for any purpose, commercial or non-commercial.

If you created this media file and want to use it on Wikipedia, you may re-upload it (or amend the image description if it has not yet been deleted) and use the license {{ GFDL-self-no-disclaimers}} to license it under the GFDL, or {{ cc-by-sa-2.5}} to license it under the Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike license, or use {{ PD-self}} to release it into the public domain.

If you did not create this media file but want to use it on Wikipedia, there are two ways to proceed. First, you may choose one of the fair use tags from this list if you believe one of those fair use rationales applies to this file. Second, you may want to contact the copyright holder and request that they make the media available under a free license.

If you have any questions please ask at Wikipedia:Media copyright questions. Thank you. – riana_ dzasta 12:54, 17 March 2007 (UTC) reply

Image issues

Hi there!

I see you may be having some trouble with the Wikipedia:Image use policy. I understand, it's a thorny thicket to untangle! The big thing that's different about Wikipedia is that we are trying to be a free resource, meaning we would like as much of our content as possible to be freely licensed, so that anyone who wants to can copy and re-use our content without restrictive copyrights.

The problem with the "Wikipedia-only" license on Image:Ddmetropolis2s_2.jpg is that others cannot freely reuse it. If you know the creator of the photo, you can ask them to release it under the GNU Free Documentation License, or a Creative Commons license, as outlined on our Wikipedia:Example requests for permission page. If so, we will be happy to replace the outdated press kit photo that's on there now -- we would really LOVE to have a current photo of the foursome that is freely licensed.

Please read Wikipedia:Image use policy and then feel free to ask for help -- you can leave a message here, or on my Talk Page, or on the talk page of the policy page, and you will get answers on how to use images properly.

Also, I should warn you that the Ask katy article may not meet our notability guidelines -- I will do what I can over the weekend to expand and reference it properly, but there's a pretty good chance it may be deleted in time.

Good luck with your continued edits, and please don't hesitate to ask me for help -- I've been editing here for a long time and have contributed a lot to the existing Duran Duran featured article, so I'll be happy to assist you.

Ask Katy

Hi there! I was sorry to see that you undid many of the changes I made to Ask Katy. The language that you added is very promotional in nature, which is not acceptable in an encyclopedia. Please read Wikipedia:What Wikipedia is not and Wikipedia:Spam. I will need to remove the "marketing-speak" here; I am still going to give this article the benefit of the doubt and not nominate it for deletion, but the more you edit it against Wikipedia policy, the more likely it is that someone else will decide it doesn't belong here. Please let me help! Thank you — Catherine\ talk 03:10, 28 March 2007 (UTC) reply

Non-free use disputed for Image:KatyCoverNEW.jpg

Warning sign This file may be deleted.

Thanks for uploading Image:KatyCoverNEW.jpg. However, there is a concern that the rationale you have provided for using this image under "fair use" may be invalid. Please read carefully the instructions at Wikipedia:Non-free content and then go to the image description page and clarify why you think the image qualifies. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If it is determined that the image does not qualify under fair use, it will be deleted within a couple of days according to our Criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. BetacommandBot 15:51, 4 June 2007 (UTC) reply

Duran Duran edit

Can you please explain what you meant here? Are you saying that the wording is based on something from Ms. Krassner? Is there a source for this? Are you identifying yourself at Ms. Krassner? It's concerning because you are changing what the actual sourced material says and I don't think those authors should be misquoted if you don't have an identifiable source. If the description of what the actual source material says is inaccurate, that's another matter. For example, I don't know immediately if Haring, pp. 77–9 claims that " Electric Barbarella" was the first single ever to be sold on-line or the first single sold as a paid download online (there is a slight difference) so changing it may be a misrepresentation of what Haring says (whether or not it's what the band thinks is accurate). -- Ricky81682 ( talk) 08:12, 11 November 2014 (UTC) reply
