COI Inquiry

Your only edits have been to Tony Crown and Irene Theo. Do you have any affiliation with them that would constitute a conflict of interest? If so, it must be declared. Robert McClenon ( talk) 04:19, 6 February 2018 (UTC) reply

Yes, my only edits have been to Tony Crown and Irene Theo because I'm new to wikipedia. I am too scared to edit other articles. The other reason is because I don't even know if these two articles will be approved or not, so how will I know if I an doing everything right or not. I have no relationship with those two artists. Hello SA2014. The nature of your edits gives the impression you have an undisclosed financial stake in promoting a topic, such as edits you made involving Synch Audio of Canada, and that you have not complied with Wikipedia's mandatory paid editing disclosure requirements. Paid advocacy is a category of conflict of interest (COI) editing that involves being compensated by a person, group, company or organization to use Wikipedia to promote their interests. Undisclosed paid advocacy is prohibited by our policies on neutral point of view and what Wikipedia is not, and is an especially egregious type of COI; the Wikimedia Foundation regards it as a "black hat" practice akin to Black hat SEO.

Paid advocates are very strongly discouraged from direct article editing, and should instead propose changes on the talk page of the article in question if an article exists, and if it does not, from attempting to write an article at all. At best, any proposed article creation should be submitted through the articles for creation process, rather than directly.

Regardless, if you are receiving or expect to receive compensation for your edits, broadly construed, you are required by the Wikimedia Terms of Use to disclose your employer, client and affiliation. You can post such a mandatory disclosure to your user page at User:SA2014. The template {{ Paid}} can be used for this purpose – e.g. in the form: {{paid|user=SA2014|employer=InsertName|client=InsertName}}. If I am mistaken – you are not being directly or indirectly compensated for your edits – please state that in response to this message. Otherwise, please provide the required disclosure. In either case, please do not edit further until you answer this message. ☆ Bri ( talk) 18:26, 8 February 2018 (UTC) reply

Hello Bri, I am not being compensated to create this Wikipedia. I know and heard of this company and I've always wanted to create a Wikipedia page for artists. There are clearly no articles about the artist's career so the only source I had was from SynchAudio's website and blog. If you think it's not a good fit for Wikipedia, then just delete the two articles. Feel free to delete my articles. I've only created them to learn. SA2014 ( talk) 04:31, 9 February 2018 (UTC) reply
Thanks for your note. Your username appears to represent the SynchAudio company; all you have done is edited about artists represented by them, and you have frankly spammed WP by sourcing only to SynchAudio's website. So what you are saying is not really credible.
Please be aware that it is ok to be present in WP if you have a relationship with a company -- you just need to disclose the relationship and you should not edit directly -- but we do have ways that you can still offer content for others to implement. Would you please reconsider your answer? Thx. Jytdog ( talk) 12:11, 9 February 2018 (UTC) reply
Hi, thanks for replying. How should I disclose the relationship? I do not think I will be editing those two articles anymore. I'll just leave it as it is and if it will be disapproved or deleted, then so be it. What are the ways that I can still offer content for others? SA2014 ( talk) 15:11, 9 February 2018 (UTC) reply

Can I also know how I can delete the two articles I made. I'm done with creating pages. I will probably stick to editing. I only wanted to see how Wikipedia works and now everything is messed up.I searched it up online, do I just need to put two curly brackets between db-author on top of the article that I created? Thanks. SA2014 ( talk) 15:24, 9 February 2018 (UTC) reply

Huh? The articles have been deleted. But why are you asking to have them deleted? Robert McClenon ( talk) 19:48, 11 February 2018 (UTC) reply
SA2014, there are some templates we use to do the disclosure formally, but just to get started, you can disclose the relationship just by saying it, in this conversation. Once the facts are clear we can put it where it needs to go, etc. Please reply just below, as you have been doing. Thanks. Jytdog ( talk) 14:49, 13 February 2018 (UTC) reply
