I see it was you who uploaded the very useful "joined with thin lines" version of Image:BlankMap-World-v5.png. I just made a list of coordinates, now posted at commons:Image talk:BlankMap-World-v5.png, and wrote a short perl script that reads a list of country names and percent figures, and outputs a fu-script of bucket fill commands that can be piped into the GIMP. At the moment I figure that French Guiana, New Caledonia, Greenland and Puerto Rico should maybe be filled automatically according to France, Denmark and USA, since the percentage for these countries would also include those territories? (but it may be misleading to paint all of Greenland Danish etc.) dab (ᛏ) 08:57, 7 April 2006 (UTC)

Hello there! Just in case you are open for new requests, here's another article that I would like to see adorned with a better map: the Jutland Peninsula. I want the map to help illustrate an upcoming edit by me which will help explain how Lauenburg to the south and North Jutlandic Island are commonly reckoned as part of Jutland, even though technically they are not. Also, the current map does not show the Limfjorden as physically disecting the peninsula. My vision for the project would be to endeavour to delimit the extent of the peninsula physically, ethno-culturally and administratively. To illustrate this: The northern delimitation would be either the Skagerrak (administratively) or the Limfjord (geographically, since 1825); the southern extremity is either the isthmus (geographically) which arguably disects Holstein, or a line following the Eider River and the Danevirke defensive wall ( the traditional ethnic boundary between the North Germanic tribes and the continental Germanic peoples proper) or the modern political border as established by plebiscite in 1920.
Suggested list of toponyms and geographical features to be included:
So, what do you say buddy? Do you reckon you have the zest and the time to take on this request of mine? If yes, rest assured that your efforts would generate one grateful peninsula! ; BigAdamsky| TALK| EDITS| 15:01, 12 April 2006 (UTC)

Hi Astrokey
My compliments. That map is a fine piece of work. A few details are slightly off, so I've placed a few comments on Talk:Jutland. But all in all, nice work. It you need more material regarding the rivers, Dannevirke, or other issues please drop me a mail, and I'll send you a few scans. You wouldn't by any chance have a good base map that includes more of Denmark than this? I'm looking for a map that covers modern Denmark, Schleswig and southern Sweden, preferably with Bornholm in the right location. If you do, I'd be very interested since I've (unfortunately) promised to try producing a better map of Viking Denmark for the page on Hedeby. (I'm saying unfortunately, since I'm good at collecting material, but not very skilled in the graphics department.) But if you have any such maps I'd very much like to hear about it. If you should be up for any such challenge yourself, I'd be very happy to provide you with the material needed. Best regards. Valentinian (talk) 10:04, 24 April 2006 (UTC)

Ooh, I'm flattered! You've been adding my grubby pics to lots of articles! :-) JackyR 19:03, 24 March 2006 (UTC)
... is great!!! Thanks for making it: it really complements the list! I'm half tempted to just ditch the satellite image of the Colorado rockies and simply use your map. What do you think? --- hike395 03:39, 27 March 2006 (UTC)
The official Pacific Islander Race definition states "The term 'Native Hawaiian and Other Pacific Islander' refers to peoples of Hawaii, Guam, Samoa, or other Pacific Islands...They are of Polynesian, Micronesian, and Melanesian cultural backgrounds."2000 US Census from the PDF. Google "Pacific Islander PDF" to see for yourself what the official US Census says. Austrailia is not part of the Polynesian, Micronesian or Melanesian cultural regions. Also, Hawaii is not on the new map you made. -- User:Dark Tichondrias 5:00 27 March 27 2006 (PST)
Indonesians are Asian on the US Census not Pacific Islander. Google "asian us census pdf" and see for yourself.-- User:Dark Tichondrias 12:00 March 28 2006 (PST)

It has a map for the Senate (which I borrowed from the 109th Congress article), but I am trying to figure out a way to show the House delegations, but its not a big deal (low level of viewership on that article I think). NoSeptember talk 01:35, 29 March 2006 (UTC)
I have no idea. I copied them directly from the List of countries by compactness article. All I did was the calculations for the 2 fields (Coast/Area and Coast/Perimeter) and the reordering. There's no mentioning of the source there either. NikoSilver (T) @ (C) 14:13, 30 March 2006 (UTC)
Hi Astrokey44, just curious, do you floodfill the blank maps by hand or do you use some (semi) automated process? After doing one map (which took me some time to be honest), I was thinking about making something in VB that could help me. But maybe there is some far more logic way to do it? Happy editing. -- Van helsing 10:18, 1 April 2006 (UTC)
Hello Astro! I hope you are well in life as on WP. At this time I would like to ask you to consider creating an overview map as per this request, similar to the one made for Central Asia and Central Africa. It would be much appreciated! :) // Big Adamsky • BA's talk page 18:28, 1 April 2006 (UTC)

I used your map of the 2000 US Census races on the Spanish-language version of Wiki. They want to know if I have your permission to use it. Do I have your permission to use your picture? Dark Tichondrias 23:06, 3 April 2006 (UTC)
Thanks for the correction. I added a note on China into its description. I am going to reconsider its nomination for deletion by me. Thanks for your work! Cmapm 23:55, 4 April 2006 (UTC)
BTW, when you know more information on boycotting countries, please, update the image. In my turn, if know more, I'll correct respective articles and drop a message to you. Cmapm 23:57, 4 April 2006 (UTC)
Hello! Given ongoing discussions and recent edit warring – and with the hope of resolving this issue – you might be interested in a poll currently underway to decide the rendition of the lead for the Republic of Macedonia article.
I see you are some kinda self-made cartographer! Your mapping of data for all three lists of countres by agriculture, industry and services' output is very welcome! Thanks a ton! Anwar saadat 11:59, 8 April 2006 (UTC)
There is a country not shaded in The Weakest Link map. Thailand used to have an official version of the show on 2002-2003. It wasn't mentioned article, but I remember that version very well. - 上村七美 16:37, 8 April 2006 (UTC)
Hi,
Would it be possible for you to make a map on the regions of Asia for football/soccer, as listed on Asian_Football_Confederation#Regions.
Thanks! - Nick C 19:00, 8 April 2006 (UTC)
I've found other countries that each have a local version of The Weakest Link. I've added this description in the article as a guide to help you:
There are also other (confirmed) versions from Belgium, China, Taiwan, the Middle East (particularly Lebanon), Israel, Czech Republc, Greece, Finland, France, Denmark, Hungary, Moldova, Russia, Portugal, Spain, Turkey, the Ukraine, India, Brazil, the Netherlands, Ireland, Finland, and Denmark.
Can you update the Weakest Link map to show these countries? - 上村七美 05:26, 10 April 2006 (UTC)
I used a very quick and dirty perlscript, which I have posted to commons:Image talk:BlankMap-World-v5.png. regards, dab (ᛏ) 15:22, 11 April 2006 (UTC)

On your map of the world's Wheel of Fortunes, as well as the article, the Russian show Pole Chudes (Поле Чудес) is not shown, while it is listed on the game show list as being a version of Wheel of Fortune in Russia. However, I am not sure if it really is a version of Wheel of Fortune, as I found a site with pictures of it, and I can see the area where the letters come up, but I do not see a wheel. There is a small error on the Oregon dispute map where it says "1946" - this should surely be "1846"?

A map to show where NBA players came from. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 68.61.73.119 ( talk • contribs)
Yes... from List of National Basketball Association players by country. Like if 1-5 players came from country A, it would be colored X, or if 5-10 came from this one color it that. I would be nice to see where and which countries produce the most NBA players. Make sense? Thanks. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Mrdrewblue ( talk • contribs)

Yes, follow the link that says "About GMT". There's a further link on that page to the GMT homepage, and in very big writing, it says that the mapping tools are released under GNU. As for the copyright marker, I believe that's for the page, its layout, or the text, or whatever.
There are thousands of OMC maps on Wikipedia, and seldom any trouble about them; so I wouldn't worry. Kelisi 15:14, 1 May 2006 (UTC)
You made a great map for the Ilemi Triangle article, but as someone just noted on the discussion page, the lines drawn on it are somewhat unclear in meaning...could you add some sort of caption to make them less cryptic? Erudy 22:00, 13 May 2006 (UTC)
Hi. I was just creating a heading for the venues to be at the 2008 Summer Olympics in Beijing, using the 2006 page as a guideline, when I saw the map you created for the Turin venues. I've noticed that you are great at mapmaking, and I'd like to know if you'd be interested in creating a map for these games too. A nice map showing the locations of all the venues (just mouse over the yellow dots) is located here. If you could, put the name of the venue, possible a sports symbol, whatever. It'd be your map, and you don't have to do it if you don't care to. Thanks for at least reading this, though. Please send me a message when you can. Regards, → J @ red 23:43, 15 May 2006 (UTC)
