File permission problem with File:Martin Blank (playwright).jpg

Thanks for uploading File:Martin Blank (playwright).jpg, which you've attributed to Martin Blank. I noticed that while you provided a valid copyright licensing tag, there is no proof that the creator of the file has agreed to release it under the given license.

If you are the copyright holder for this media entirely yourself but have previously published it elsewhere (especially online), please either

  • make a note permitting reuse under the CC-BY-SA or another acceptable free license (see this list) at the site of the original publication; or
  • Send an email from an address associated with the original publication to permissions-en@wikimedia.org, stating your ownership of the material and your intention to publish it under a free license. You can find a sample permission letter here. If you take this step, add {{ OTRS pending}} to the file description page to prevent premature deletion.

If you did not create it entirely yourself, please ask the person who created the file to take one of the two steps listed above, or if the owner of the file has already given their permission to you via email, please forward that email to permissions-en@wikimedia.org.

If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Non-free content, use a tag such as {{ non-free fair use}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:File copyright tags#Fair use, and add a rationale justifying the file's use on the article or articles where it is included. See Wikipedia:File copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have provided evidence that their copyright owners have agreed to license their works under the tags you supplied, too. You can find a list of files you have created in your upload log. Files lacking evidence of permission may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. You may wish to read Wikipedia's image use policy. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. — Diannaa ( talk) 20:02, 20 July 2016 (UTC) reply

Polite notice on WMF conflict of interest rules

Looking over the articles you have worked on, I am concerned by a number of issues in them - the sourcing to press releases, the apparent failure to meet relevant notability guidelines, your removal of tags marking low-quality sources with an edit summary saying you're doing something else - and must ask: do you have any links to the organisations and people you edit concerning? I must point out the Wikimedia Foundation terms of use section 4, Paid contributions without disclosure - while editing with a conflict of interest may be permissible in particular circumstances, you are required to disclose it. The Foundation FAQ on paid contributions without disclosure goes into more detail; local English Wikipedia rules may be more restrictive. Proposed deletion of Fête (mobile app)

The article Fête (mobile app) has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

very promotional tone, ill-sourced, little evidence of meeting NCORP, problems in tags not addressed, Google shows very little that passes WP:RS

While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. Proposed deletion of Jörn Günther

The article Jörn Günther has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

Clearly promotional article - all sources actually about Gunther are self-sourced, press releases or, if a claim is present in an RS, noted as being Gunther making the claim; *nothing* in what RSes there are is actually independent third-party information about Gunther, it's all verifying general knowledge claims made in passing. Full of WP:PEACOCK terms. There is no evidence of meeting notability. Even if it did, the article has *no* citations to the quality required by WP:BLP.

While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Proposed deletion of Maropost Marketing Cloud

The article Maropost Marketing Cloud has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

Clearly promotional tone. Most sources are user-generated directories, press releases or primary. The few RSes are not sufficient to base an article on that would meet WP:NCORP - if this were cut down to material in RSes it would be about a paragraph. The same user has created or is creating similarly promotionally-toned articles with a similar quality of sourcing on company principals. Could be saved with considerably more sources that meet WP:RS and are definitely not reprinted press releases or company-sourced directory entries; a Google search shows little hope of this, however.

Proposed deletion of Jay Radia

The article Jay Radia has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

Clearly promotionally-toned article; highly questionable if meets WP:GNG; skimpily sourced, claims in RSes appear to be things he told them rather than things they would have independently verified; should be deleted or merged to Yieldify

While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Hi RGReiber. Would you please describe the relationship that creates the COI that you signalled here? Thanks. Jytdog ( talk) 00:34, 18 May 2017 (UTC) reply

Hi Jytdog. A co-worker of the article subject asked me to update the article because it's no longer accurate. I plan to make more changes to the page, but nothing that could be construed as biased. Should I make the changes directly on the page or request them on the talk page? RGReiber ( talk)
Thanks for your reply. Given your COI you should not edit the article directly, but rather you should suggest changes on the article talk page. This is described at WP:COI. Also, are you being paid, or do you expect to be paid, for improving the article? Thanks again for replying. Jytdog ( talk) 03:18, 18 May 2017 (UTC) reply
Hi, happy to reply to your reasonable suggestions at the Dipp Talk page. Would you please reply with regard to the paid editing question? Thanks. Jytdog ( talk) 02:24, 19 May 2017 (UTC) reply
Thanks – I appreciate you taking time to update the Dipp article. I have not been paid. RGReiber ( talk)
Thanks for your reply. the question includes the aspect of "expect to be paid". Would you please respond to that aspect? I am sorry if this seems pushy but people sometimes tell part of the truth in these contexts.
Looking briefly at the history of your editing, it fits with what freelancers or people who work for PR companies do in WP.
Couple of pieces of context for you in case you are not aware:
  1. Following several paid editing scandals a couple of years ago, two things happened. First, the WMF updated the Terms of Use for all Wikimedia projects, including Wikipedia, to make it an obligation for every user that: "you must disclose your employer, client, and affiliation with respect to any contribution for which you receive, or expect to receive, compensation." Second, the PR industry itself issued its Wikipedia:Statement on Wikipedia from participating communications firms saying that they would start with complying with that, and other relevant policies and guidelines. There are several editors who work for PR firms, fully disclose that, work with the COI management system, and are building great reputations here and improving WP.
  2. The community has become more and more willing to indefinitely block paid editors who do not disclose what they are doing. The community has always been willing to block people who are disruptive, but this recent trend is interesting in that people who are otherwise not disruptive but who are violating the terms of use, are now blockable.
I am a big believer in educating folks - that if people know what the right thing is and how to do it, they will generally do it. I also am aware well aware that your editing just ~looks like~ paid editing and may well not be. So my questions to you here are real questions. I thank you again for receiving them graciously. Best regards Jytdog ( talk) 16:26, 19 May 2017 (UTC) reply
Thanks for the information – I was not aware of these recent developments. I do not expect to be paid for editing this page. However, it is possible (not at all certain) I could be paid for other work (not Wiki-related) in the future. What should my COI disclosure look like in such a case? Thanks for your help. RGReiber ( talk) 15:45, 23 May 2017 (UTC) reply
Thanks for clarifying. If you have real world relationships with would create a conflict of interest in WP (and we all do! There is surely some article in WP where every WP editor has a COI), there are two choices. First, just don't edit the topic. Then no actual COI is generated and there is no issue. If you want to work on an article where you have a COI, you would disclose that on your userpage (just something simple like: "I work for/am being paid by X and that generates a conflict of interest with respect to Y" and make a similar disclosure on the relevant Talk page when you propose an edit. Nothing elaborate is needed. Make sense? Jytdog ( talk) 16:52, 23 May 2017 (UTC) reply
Perfect sense. Thanks again. RGReiber ( talk)

While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

LOT network

I saw you added and then deleted LOT network to patents. Any reason for the deletion? It looked like a good addition to me. -- Nowa ( talk) 21:15, 23 August 2016 (UTC) reply

I thought so too but I realized right after I saved it that the section I was adding to was for anti-patent organizations i.e. organizations that would like to see the patent system radically altered or even abolished -- whereas LOT is more about protecting patents from trolls. But maybe it is a good fit? Not sure. RGReiber ( talk) 21:19, 23 August 2016 (UTC) reply
I think it's a good fit. I've heard them present and the overall tone is anti parent.
OK - thanks for the feedback! I'll add it back. RGReiber ( talk) 12:18, 24 August 2016 (UTC) reply

Michelle Dipp COI?
