Neutrality in Articles

Your contributions to the article on Bad Check Restitution Programs are very much appreciated. You provided some really good information.

As you mentioned, you are new to Wikipedia. For your knowledge, the purpose of Wikipedia is to provide factual information on people, places, companies/organizations, objects, events, works, or concepts, not to promote or oppose them. But it is possible within these guidelines to provide info that is for or against them, all at a neutral point of view.

For example, if the article is about taxes, it could state:

A tax is a fee collected by the government from citizens. (This is a FACT, and would be the introduction). Some feel that taxes are a necessary way to fund public services. (This is a statement describing people who are for taxes). Others oppose all taxes, stating they are the involuntary removal of one's hard-earned money. (This is a statement describing those who are against taxes).

It is good you are trying to fight against BCRPs. I was inspired to contribute to an article on them after a cover story on a local news station about 1½ years ago. The story described a company that was operating as a BCRP, telling bad check writers they had violated the law, and they acted in every way like a BCRP. They used letterhead of the DA offices of various jurisdictions in the mid-Atlantic region, but they were not operating under the auspices of any DAs. They were able to obtain names of bad check writers from area supermarkets and other large retailers from whom they offered to collect for. Hellno2 00:04, 13 July 2007 (UTC) reply
